Dualsense is a Scam

Another Dualsense with stick drift after a year of use. I have never seen anything like this and I've been playing games for almost 4 decades. This is my fourth controller and now I will have to buy a new one because it's very uncomfortable to play with this issue.

I want to ask you, how is the experience with the Xbox controller? Is it worth it?

I am thinking of getting one for pc and not buying Sony controllers ever again
Either one of these will be a much better choice for a PS5 controller than anything Sony makes.

Thanks for the tips. I definitely need to experiment a bit. One thing I have noticed while playing is that I push by accident sometimes the back buttons of the controller. I would like to deactivate that so I'll check how to do that as well.

Thanks everyone who recommended me this controller, its definitely a great choice

Back buttons do nothing by default. You have to map them to work. It takes some getting used to, but once you do, there's no going back to controller with no extra buttons at the back.

Man, this thread is really going in circles and I have to wonder why.

Gonzito specifically mentions the use of the Sony DS and its quality (or lack thereof) and people start suggesting various 3rd party joypads with varying degrees of prices...

Meanwhile, the best course of action is literally finding someone on ebay and just have his DSs fixed with HAL/TMR sticks and just be done with it.

It's both the most cost effective solution AND the most practical one since he enjoys the ergonomics of the DS.

I feel that at this point, it's just discussion for discussion's sake.

I've had several failed duelsenses, so I got the edge, I've had two sticks fail on that but you just swap in new ones.

Xbox I barely play, like at all, vs ps5 daily for years. Even so, when I got the xbox, I played the medium, and halo infinite and I got stick drift on one controller, bought the elite, and whilst I don't have stick drift, the A button is unresponsive like 30% of the time. Far less heavy use vs the PlayStation, overall the elite I find really rather shitty, only nice thing about it is the weight, which makes it feel premium…had to disable vibration as it was really awful.

Despite the issues, the duelsense and edge in particular is the best controller I've ever use. The sticks in all modern controllers just seem shit and are prone to failure. Just get the edge and a couple packs of spare sticks (before you need them, because you will need them and they're not always easy to get)

Nice. Then, depending on OP's location, he could have 2 years to get a replacement

He's in Europe so he can ask for repairs/a replacement, thing is, this will happen AGAIN since the quality is absolutely abysmal, hence me saying again that the only, proper course of action is finding a guy on Ebay that replaces the Alps modules for HAL/TMR ones...

That's what I did and I couldn't be happier - it had gotten so bad that I stopped using the L3 and R3 buttons (analogue stick "click") altogether and started to reassign the sprint function to any other button as it's one of the culprits for stick drift (dust and grime basically gets pushed into the potentiometers), I can't even begin to imagine how bad it must get for people that actually play for hours on end first person shooters like COD.

Honestly I've been playing for a few hours with this new controller and I dont miss at all the Dualsense lol. This one is great, very confortable and the battery life seems to be great compared with the Sony controller. So although this post went a bit off topic, I am actually glad I got this controller. I just hope that there wont be sticker drift long term. We'll see

Look up Hall Effect fix on marketplace. There should be someone near you who can switch the modules in your controller. I've been using my modded controller for over 2 years now without any problems

Actually the official Xbox series controller has same problems with the drift because both (MS/Sony) use the same "Alps Alpine" sticks for their controllers. I have my switches changed by "controller repair guy :)" to the hall effect version of the sticks. This is the solution. I have been playing this hall effect DS controller for 3 years and 'am satisfied with it. I never had any problem with the buttons and the dpad...

Two years in the stick drift caused an untimely death falling from a ledge in Elden Ring.

After that, I beat the shit out of the controller and it fixed the drift.

Probably drifts the opposite way now and cancels out 🤣

Turns out I have the first generation 8bitdo Ultimate controller - with the Switch button layout which has problems with some games. Some times X will by Y and A will be B. Other times the triggers have the wrong inputs on them. Makes it a nightmare to adjust.

Ordered an Ultimate 2 with the Xbox layout and it's out for delivery. This version has better sticks and triggers (apparently). Less prone to failures, etc. Also has fancy LED lights. Can't wait to use it tonight on the Deck!

Do NOT go with Xbox controllers. They're great controllers except that the freaking bumper buttons (for me, it's always the right bumper) will fail. They haven't fixed this since Xbox 360 days, and it's insanely annoying to either have to open the controller to fix it yourself, or to buy a new controller. Additionally, I have had issues with their wireless connection on multiple occasions. It's great when it works, but a hassle when it doesn't.

I would go with a great third-party controller. 8BitDo is good if you have smaller hands and don't mind that the sides are almost vertical (whereas Xbox and PlayStation controllers have their sides angled). I have been using the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro 8K PC controller (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0FC9DTDJ3), and I love it so far.

I get it! But it's also TMR joysticks, meaning stick-drift isn't something you have to worry about. It also has remappable buttons, and there are 4 different profiles you can have with different button layouts. You can link games to one of the four different profiles, and you can easily swap between them from the controller without having to open the Razer Synapse app each time. Honestly, my biggest gripe about the controller is that it's extremely lightweight. I know that's a benefit for a lot of people, but I like the heftier feel of Xbox controllers.

Yeah I'm with you, man.

The dainty, hollow feeling of the 8bitdo is my biggest criticism. But they're dirt cheap, and come with a charging stand that plugs into the Steam Deck and auto syncs. Plus they can wake the Steam Deck up wirelessly, which other controllers couldn't at the time. (Not sure if that's still the case tbh)
