Did you not play D1 or D2? had some lows for sure but peak Destiny was peak Bungie.
LMAO

D1 is peak bungie? Give me a fucking break.

Releasing a game with almost barely any content in it which is what happened with D1, should have burned them so bad.
But instead they just thought we'll release expansion packs and make those suckers pay for more content!!

D1 absolutely sucked ass

Are you serious? Are you genuinely not familir with Resident Evil? Capcom's TOP SELLING franchise? The series that popularized the genre in the first place?? :messenger_grinning_sweat:
I wouldn't say it popularized - it created a genre but it's a separate question to if the genre is popular I.e. sells a lot. Although you might be right because I just checked and RE8 sold 10mln copies, I was thinking it was 2-3mln tops.

Also isn't MoHun much bigger?

I don't think this game is going to retain low skill players.

It might be f**ked.

God sent Moses into the desert for 40 years. Now God tests me with Marathon. Why?

Its chasing modern audience aftar all, so women, ofc most of them(say 95%) have low to none skill lvl, and i say it as relatively unskilled player myself(think 1800 arena rating in WoW and that was back in my early 20s aka prime, now i cant even beat sekiro :messenger_astonished: ), i literally knew 1 skilled female player(she was reserve in csgo pr0 team) and 1 decent skill lvl woman(could finish more games than i did, including sekiro), rest of them were avg or well belov avg skill lvl aka even elden ring would pose as unclimbable wall :P

At 5am EST, 42k is very good
Games tend to peak between 19-22 CET since that is peak european gamer time. That is 7 to 10 in the evening european time for those that can't grasp how time is actually measured. So we will see in around 9-10 hours.

Otherwise you have the entire asian gamer group that are around 1,5 billion gamers compared to 300 million in us/canada, but that doesn't always show in western games where the european 700 million gamer crowd tends to lead the numbers.

Asia is bigger than 1.5 billion if you're just counting population. Thats just china. East Asia, southeast Asia and Oceania are like 2.45B people alone. South Asia, which is roughly in the same time zone, puts that number up to almost 4.5 billion. It's still massive when you only account for middle class people who buy PC and consoles.

Oh what a surprise....
How did I know your gonna spend years hyping it to then eventually bit by bit shit on it...

Im waiting for your next very genuine take on the game.... I wonder what it will be.

You are a total slimeball and hack. And too obvious

It's not that serious. Let the man get a lil motion and hype up some stuff.

Better than all the constant fuckin' negativity around here as soon as a dev studio does something other than third-person-walking-sim-with-quick-time-events-AAA-project.

Its the fake hype, so he can shit on it for the next few months lol.

It's literally on the main page of the store.
Weird I even looked for it yesterday. Will check again. (y)

edit:
Still wasn't there by default even my OG PS5 dash or PS store page - this time.

This time when I searched for Marathon a 2nd result appeared next to the paid game for the free server slam that didn't come up yesterday when I searched on the Pro. So will have to try it on the OG first.

I wanted to play this myself, and still might on Steam Deck, the few initial impressions I've seen are not good though.

People can argue over concurrent player counts on this thread, it doesn't really bother me beyond meme material as long as there's a relatively healthy player base.

However, Bungie will be held to a higher standard due to what has come before. This is a studio that in the past has gone toe to toe with CoD, Battlefield, Apex etc. in terms of gameplay, replay-ability and CCU so comparisons to indie games and moderately successful smaller games sadly miss the point completely.

Are you kidding me by naming probably the biggest example of a game that fell off?

The game is almost 8 years old

It was in top 3 Steam chart for 2024 and
Made more money than GTA5 and Roblox in June and July of 2024 for PSN.

Your only counting Steam numbers, Destiny 1 was console exclusive and has plenty of fans on Ps and Xbox.

Its made enough money lol

Its not a total free to play like Apex, they make
Money from game/dlc sales not just cosmetic stuff.

I'm not quite sure what we can glean from this right now.

Sure--it's got a lot of players, but it's essentially an open test that anyone is able to play and I believe the marketing for this leading up was fairly substantial, so folks know about it.

Once the game comes out next week and they want their $39.99/$59.99, coupled with how sentiment felt from this test, we'll see.

But forming a statement on the game's success or failure based on how many are playing said slam right now? Are we looking for like drops *during* the open test?

Didn't sony like publically admit destiny was a massive disappoitnment? I don't think its the money maker you think it is.

Well people are perfectly free to make these kind of topics I'm not sure what some people are getting out of it. Are they wishing for it to be lower or laughing or whatever the 10th of it is? I think there should be a casual for all this and I'm all in and I look at stuff like this too but I feel like some dick measuring contest or something with some of these games because you're comparing them to others and don't understand the finance with it and then it falsely sometimes makes a game look either too good or worse than what it is.

I guess what I'm getting at is that there's like this psychology of extrapolating numbers from something that is not really healthy for a consumer. Analytics are nice but none of us here are getting paid for that. I think if it's a good game you should root for a success but I think some games it's almost like they have the stigma of some negativity and any kind of thing to laugh at or joke about it and compare it to other games it's not really healthy as a game.

I actually like the movement I'm not still sure if I'm going to buy it but very clean visually and one of the kids was saying that it looks like Destiny 2 but he's played a ton of that. I taking a short two day hiatus from playing Dragon Quest 7 I need to get back on the ball with that one so adding another game when I have another game to beat doesn't seem very healthy right now.

You forgot the one and only. Destiny 2 eat your heart out. Destiny 2 is 8 years old?
2013 game right here, never was f2p and does not ever have huge discounts.
KvPkNcwtfyFJlFH2.png

But its an absolute shit game and folks on pc like these shitass survival games.

Its certainly no indication of quality.

I say this as a primary pc gamer who has zero interest in these dumb basebuilding games

Or walking around a giant empty map killing zombies.

What else is there to do in an gaming enthusiast forum. I am personally bit shocked as stated before on this low CCU.

I expected atleast curious Arc fans to take a leave and try this FREE weekend of a new shiny AAA game in the same genre. But first semi-launch day couldn't even pry people from their other 5 months old extraction shooter. Weekday or weekend, it having low CCU than ARCs at a free weekend is shocking to me. This is coming from a Bungie supporter.

Predicted actual PAID launch day will see +200K CCU but now I am not so sure.
