Some of the main gameplay features already shown, like combat, are the deepest in any open world. Only Elden Ring has combat on par with this.
I'd say it's way closer to Dragon's Dogma. Elden Ring is a very cool game but the combat is jank and way too simple.

Shit GAF, last month this wasn't on my radar and now I'm very tempted to get it day one. You are doing an excellent job at selling it.

I have 0 knowledge of the game. Just what you shared here. Any particular preview you'd recommend?

I'm tempted it's just that the entry fee is kind of steep (not American, $60 hits different in a place where the minimum wage is $500 per month)

Bruh I'll buy you the game right the fuck now, all you have to do is tell me you're a Nigerian prince and have a steam account.

Edit: I'm not kidding. What you're steam and I'll gift it. Just DM me though.
Edit 2: You wont owe me shit. I don't spend money I'm gonna miss. Hell you can insult me immediately afterwards and I wouldn't give a fuck. :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Edit3: Wait are you on a console? I'm sure there is a way to gift someone a game on console as well.

Bruh he don't need reviews he's fixing to get the game for free. I presume the reason why I haven't received a DM yet is because he's setting up a steam account. :messenger_beaming:

if you have a capable PC I feel this is one of those game you just have to get

does not really matter if it is good - it looks very interesting from a tech standpoint

Do you have evidence of this?
First let me ask you: what are the benefit of a DRM for us, the payer/player?

But yes (and it's not the only game):

Denuvo runs constant integrity checks, that's the biggest problem. In CPU bound games like Jedi Survivor (it really is a perfect example) it competes for cycles therefore inflating frametime spikes and hurting 1% lows. It's not a huge hit in every title but it's especially noticeable when the engine is already struggling with streaming. Like with Jedi Survivor.
Now since it seems like I have some Denuvo fans in there, you're probably gonna say that it's not thanks to Denuvo but only because of the optimizations. Thing is other games have shown the same pattern, Jedi Survivor is just one of the clearest recent examples because the removal gave a direct before/after. And while I don't doubt the patch made some adjustment, you'll have to be in total denial to think removing the DRM did nothing. I mean there was a crash when entering the second world when ray tracing was on and this took months to be patched. MONTHS !! A mod was released before the official patch, can you believe that?
At the end of the day the guy who bought the game (like me, hi) is fucked because of a stupid DRM doing constant checks, and of course this adds load to the CPU, even more with recent Denuvo which is even more agressive to a point it's ridiculous.

Again the biggest problem is not the average framerate, it's the stuttering. And especially in UE5 games but not limited to it. Resident Evil Village is another clear example of what I'm talking about. Sorry if I came as rude but I'm tired, I don't know why it's up to me to spoonfeed this information as it is know and a quick research could have answered your question. Nor do I understand the need to justify why having a DRM as agressive as Denuvo a bad thing.

Does anyone know if the control scheme can be customized on console?

I'm not a fan of holding X to sprint, I'd like to change it to L3 or a shoulder button if possible.
One of the videos I watched said no for gamepad but yes for keyboard. Because of how complex the controls are. Probably something added later.

This was also me. I couldn't resist the fomo.

Stay strong man.

if I buy this game, its the only thing I will play for the next 6-8 months, just like it happened when Tears of the Kingdom came out.

I'm hesitant to get it.

Are you scared of having too much fun or what

I feel you man. My wife trying to guilt trip me because she's jealous that video games get more of my time than her is something I don't like experiencing either. But she can always get a boyfriend so it's on her.

Bruh, you are a king. I wanted to make fun of you for naming your PC, but now I can't do it. You are a stand-up individual beyond reproach.

I will not make fun of the naming of the PC, even though I really want to.

Just preordered at GameStop for Pro. They said it will be there on release day.

The game key and denuvo news was disappointing, but I'm happy they have a 40fps/120Hz mode so I decided to go Pro for now. At worst I can sell it and grab the PC version later on.

Bro, that's very generous of you.

I just DM you my Steam profile.

Watched some spanish streamer saying "I'm not under NDA and I don't give a fuck. I've been talking with people of the press that are playing the game and the consensus seem to be that scores will be really high".

I usually don't give a fuck about journo scores but yeah, hype rising.

Almost missed this because my old ass was about to fall asleep. :messenger_beaming:

The game is already in my account.

Didn't ask for it, didn't expect it. Just a stranger being genuinely decent. Really caught me off guard. No big deal made of it, just did it. Appreciate you, man. Gaming communities can be something else when they want to be.

I've been a Gaffer for I think over 17 years, before that I lurked for quite some time. I know there is amazing people in this community because I have been the recipient of kindness before but still, it surprises me when it happens (to me or anyone else). I'll make sure to pay it forward.

Hey I got this mortgage here. Let me know when you wanna pay that off.

You're a good guy, don't listen to these others.

Will the game start if i get the physical early with the always online bullshit?
So it isn't always online. You just have to connect for the initial install since the whole game couldn't fit on the disc. After that you don't need internet at all. But the initial download will be 48Gb. It won't let you download the rest of the game until launch day i believe.

The lighting effects are a nice touch. I wonder how many of those there are. It's a technical action based game, so there's lots of moves. I for one like the special effects they've got going on. Part of me is so ready for this game to be GOTY that I'm not even wanting to get invested in my other games until this one is playable. If this flops I'll be pissed. lol

Yeah, I might do this.

EDIT: Actually hearing about the disc not having all the game on it and having to download more, I might just go digital.

I have a very demanding job in tech, a wife and two kids, one of them is 4yo.

Long games are usually a no no for me, because I play like 4-5 hors per week. I prefer games I can finish under 20 hrs.
Two kids here (2 years and 6 months old). Isn't it better to have a game you can really invest in, to know what you're playing when you have the time without thinking much about it?
I'm really looking forward to crimson desert and that is one of the reasons. I'll dig into it for a couple dozen hours at least without thinking about another game if everything will be as it seems to be with this game.
That frees up so much space in (the video game part of) my brain.
Usually play for 5-10 hours a week depending on sleep schedule. At the moment I sleep 4 to 5 hours, which I know is neither ideal nor healthy, but wow and elite dangerous, both on the steam deck, are just too good. Looking forward to spending two hours per day before work on the PS5, which I haven't touched since around September.
