Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

There are 1001 papers on inverse rendering for lightsource determination.
Long story short, the issue is ill-posed and approaches np hard if you have as little information as this model has at the point it currently comes into play. It's quite literally impossible, mathematically and from a runtime perspective, that this will ever deliver accurate results if it doesn't get an architectural rework with a full integration into the pipeline.

Just depends if the fudge factor of accuracy can produce results that are acceptable for the compute cost vs a high quality PT option. Theoretically it should be a viable alternative otherwise why go down this path at all if PT is the only acceptable way forward? But this goes beyond lighting too ofc.

To the average gamer's eye they may already be there apart from the unfortunate exaggerated studio portrait faces.

For anyone who missed it

Procedural Glass breaking simulation!

I wonder what other teams are working on?

- Procedural vehicle destruciton
- Procedural trees destruction
- Procedural g-string physics simulation for strippers
- Realtime digestive system simulation that makes you go number 2 after tacos

CD looks great in HDR, wish I could post the original HDR .jxl image, highlight/Sky blown out by converting to SDR.

Development on GTA 6 has to be hell for most of the developers. Working on the most miniscule of details, many of which will go unrecognized by the vast majority of gamers

yeah, its a shame how pc captures completely butcher the hdr image because of that stupid jxr format that isnt supported anywhere. this is not an issue on the ps5.

the conversion to sdr completely ruins the colors in my gifs and i hate it. the game looks so amazing in HDR and you just cant capture it. this shit looked amazing on my tv. the hdr on the helmet alone is amazing.

Just had the ugliest rain I've seen in my life. Dlss broke completely. It was literally pixelated. I could actually count the pixels. Maybe 240p internal resolution. How can they make these insane graphics and can't get dlss right?

The ray tracing indoors is also starting to straight up glitch. It still works in marble palaces but smaller wooden huts and mansions with wooden rooms have light leakage, poor shadows, and other dlss oddities. I was in a room so detailed and so well lit it might as well have been path traced but then the drapes started glitching and that was that.

Ok when crimson looks good it looks fucking good, i was in this location close to the sea, surrounded by high formations of wet rocks and it looked pretty great, very photorealistic.

How do i take decent quality pics without installing apps and while i'm in exclusive fullscreen? i think i heard people using f12? or maybe the ingame photomode? where does it save the pics?

Press the Win key plus G at the same time while gaming

Install this mod to get better Raytracing and Ray Reconstruction results.

I wanted to immediately reject that notion until I remembered that even half the gaffers around here have severe Mr. Magoo syndrome when it comes to DLSS5 and how it completely butchers lighting directionality and tonality (so far). :messenger_grinning_sweat:
Heck quite a few idiots here still refuse to accept that DLSS5 does full faceswaps including changes to the geometry.

its way better than rdr2 in terms of a living breathing world. rdr2 has a completely empty world outside of main towns and st. denis. its very rare to run into npcs and other horse riders.

in crimson, you cant go a few yard without seeing a bunch of NPCs doing something. the world is packed with NPCs irrespective of whether you are in a town or in the wilderness.
In terms of npcs numbers sure, in terms of everything else? Nah.

I think that's selling the game short, i'm actually very impressed by the little details in the game.
It was a joke actually, did the latest patch fix the control's? And make the game easier, that's what I read and that would certainly make me more interested if it's not as frustrating.

Apparently there is auto exposure bug in Crimson Desert that makes everything very bright, including nights

Wrong Auto Exposure

Right Auto Exposure

RenoDX Team is working on a fix that will probably release today. The pictures I provided are not final btw, they are still working to tune it properly but the autoexposure is just broken and not working as it should

They have made a lot of rendering fixes too that are available and fix a lot of inconsistencies with RR, DLSS and the lighting in general, especially interiors. Chromatic Aberration and sharpening are removable as well thanks to this mod and they are working to get a fix for the shitty LOD too although they say its a difficult task but they are trying

Definitely recommend following these guys, they are basically fixing the game

What was that? I can't access your link

This is the reshade addon for the game

In order to use it you must download and install first Reshade with addon support, you dont need to install addons or anything just click on the game and press next to everything.

Then download this file
And put it in the exe. When you launch the game open reshade and you will see a tab like this and you can adjust everything you want. The rendering issues fixes are on by default. If you want to be up to date with this mod you should join discord and follow them

Important notes, this mod only works with HDR on

So.....I enabled the new NVME driver meant for Windows Server.
Apparently, Windows' storage calls are/have all been actually going through a SCSI protocol?

So this new driver is meant to be true NVME. (Linux has already been doing this, for some time).

And it pretty much literally cut my Crimson Desert load time in half.

Nani?
