Really? Is that a rhetorical question? You make a mask like he has in the comics, done and done. With the quality of costume design Nolan has at his hands they could easily do a faithful comic book mask rendition that didn't look out of place.

The end.

Maybe the narrative requires that he must wear a gas mask and not a wrestler mask?

fair game, I didn't intend for that to come off as he needed to have a wrestling mask, by all means I think Nolan knows what he is doing. I was simply responding to what the gentlemen was asking for "a response from what everyone complaining would say."

This is Nolan's version of Bane, though. And it does stay pretty close to the comics but with a mechanical look that surely serves some sort of practical purpose. Simply slapping on a leather mask would just be flimsy.

Yes. If he were wearing the mask the whole time, he wouldn't have full use of his facial expressions. If he didn't have full use of his facial expressions, we would lose a lot of details in his acting. To me, detail is what really fleshes out a character, so if he was prevented from detailing his performance we'd lose a lot of the character.

Good to know he should be taking if off though.

I disagree. You can have a fantastically performed character with no facial expressions at all. I know the film isn't looked well upon by many, but Hugo Weaving's performance as V was one my favorite of this kind.

Bane's mask was never leather, to my knowledge. Except for that shitty movie I won't speak of.

How do we know it stays close to the comics anyway? We know literally nothing about his role in this film but rumor and hearsay.

So how does Batman being seen as a criminal come into play?

Unless I missed that somewhere.

If i recall correctly, Gorden is the head of a task force set out capture Batman in this movie.

Do they usually make the commissioner the head of a task force? I'd think they'd delegate that to a lower ranking dude.

Hardy looks muscular and he has some sort of apparatus on his head. It looks OK. I'll trust Nolan that it'll look good and appropriate in the film.

It's a cool photo, but that's all I can really say when most of the character is in shadow. But hey, Nolan has given me no reason to doubt him between BB and TDK, so I'm looking forward to the full reveal.

Besides, they literally just started filming, I wouldn't be surprised if that photo was just from a costume test. It'll probably be quite a while before we get any new official images, so this is good enough to hold me over :)

There will be no crow. I have seen one picture and maybe even read one rumor that may not even be true and now I have completely visualized what the film will be like and have deemed it to be shit.

Seriously how do people who don't read comics feel well educated enough to talk about characters? I don't watch basketball. Therefore, I don't comment on whether Kobe or Lebron is better.

1) Just because somebody dislikes Bane, it doesn't mean they don't follow the books.

and

2) Bane sucks.

I was already correct on that. I accept that point. However, I don't see how anyone could read comics think that bane is simply a cheesy character. I can understand not liking him. Either way there have been a number of people who have posted simply based on one picture of the character and made quality judgments. I don't think that's fair without sufficient knowledge of the background. Also I never said dislikng bane means you don't read comics. I said thinking bane was ALWAYS a cheesy character shows you don't read comics. I won't back down from that.

Can we stop with this nolan universe realism batman bullshit. It has just as many unbelievable and completely far fetched ideas as any comic book movie they have put out to do date. Now that's over with, the mask looks stupid but i'll wait until we get better images and Tom Hardy is an amazing actor so stupid mask or not he can pull this off.

edit: really need a shot with him standing to get a true idea of how the mask appears. It may be fuck awesome for all I know.

No we can't stop because you are the one who doesn't get it. Yes this is a movie about a man in a Bat outfit which in itself is unrealistic but not impossible. None of the comic book "fantasy" elements such as super powers (not Batman but other comic book heroes and villains from the same universe) are included Nolan's movies. He aims for a certain vision where, although not likely, things can be explained away. Batman Begins spends tons of time showing how he gathers his tech, suit, and all the little things just to show how he does it. Not that he just is.

So while its not a realistic movie, it doesn't involve any of the elements found in other comic books including the DC universe nor any of the movie adaptations. For Nolan to all of a sudden introduce supernatural or fantasy type elements now would be really weird considering the tone he set with the first two.

And no other media has? It's been done dozens of times in the cartoons and comics. What are you getting at here?

Some people could argue he already has included more than a few fantasy elements.

Also for those who don't know who Tom Hardy is...

Tom Hardy is the overrated actor Nolan-GAF loves. Not "JGL overrated" but overrated nonetheless.

He was solid in Bronson but that required the range of a 2-foot putt on the front 9.

GOLF!

Sounds like your opinion of the photo is very unbiased as well.

I really love it how, when BB grossed all that money, and people said "Ah, only Nolan-GAF is crazy about this", then TDK grossed all that money, and people said "Ah, only people are crazy for Joker and Batman stuff", and then Inception made all of that money and now it's just like after Obama dropped his birth certificate, only crazy people believe "only Nolan-GAF likes this so much."

I frankly fail to understand the lovin' he got after Inception. He barely existed in that movie. Personally I liked him in Rock'n'Rolla but Bronson just wasn't for me.

I don't know he's cool in Inception.

He's definitely cool, but some people here were hailing the guy as the second coming.

He is definitely not the second coming, but I think everyone likes him (and JGL) because they have a very like-able screen presence. Their both not great actors, but their definitely fun to watch perform.

I honestly don't follow Batman enough to know who Bane is (I really only got interested since Batman Begins), but that looks pretty intense. Hype.

a pg-13 gasmask fetish film? poor batman fans. it's alright, guys, you can always join the superior spider-man ride. just make sure your socks don't match.

My bacne is 10x worse and I've never juiced. That said, he prob has. Getting that big naturally with minimal fat gain takes a lot of hard work and discipline.

Dark Knight Returns is going to break the Amazing Spider-Man's back.

Picture isnt sitting well with me. He better not be doing some "Hollywood" workout regime.
Bane should not look like this:

Bane needs to look like this:

Minus the frosted tips.

Still, in Nolan we trust.
