Goldson and Rogers are on 1yr contracts. Rogers wants a long term deal and Goldson is going to want a big contract. I believe everyone else is signed for a few years.

Goldson seemed pretty good in the two games (don't have DirectTV) that I've seen them play.
I wonder if they'll try to sign. That defense is dominant. Seems like they need some WRs or better QB play. Still, should be going to the SB with what they have. Special teams losses are the worst!

Nope, Panthers make the playoffs and finish ahead of the DIRTY BIRDZ
as well as the Oregon Tacos
in the division next year.

I'm so confident in that, I'm willing to bet my avatar and my good name on it.

If Carolina stays healthy, I see them making a deep playoff run next year. Cam is the truth.

I keep telling Bears fans they should be pushing for the hire of Marc Ross as their GM. Not that I want to see him go. I hope they completely ignore him. He's been an integral part of the drafting process alongside Reese in putting this team together since '07.

I will really shit my ass laughing if the bucs get chip kelly lol.

those convicts will eat him alive.

phones dead, later peeps

The hell is wrong with you Niners fans? You've given Smith more years worth of chances than most QBs get in a career. He's total fucking garbage, you can do better and if you had even a competent QB, you'd be in the Super Bowl.

Get rid of him, spend whatever it takes to get one of the veteran FAs and never speak of Alex fucking Smith again.

I just think he did enough this season to keep his spot. Not a crazy ass long term deal, but we did draft a QB last year and I don't think he's ready. I think the defense is good enough to make another run next year (we aren't going to have all of our young studs forever) and Alex Smith is good enough for the moment. I think the most important thing to do next season is get back to the Championship and if we can't sign a big name QB, what's the point in starting over with a young QB?

Interesting quote and perspective from Mike Garafolo:

Giants apparently knew they could rattle Kyle Williams. Here's Devin Thomas: “He’s had a lot of concussions. We were just like, ‘We gotta put a hit on that guy. (Tyler) Sash did a great job hitting him early and he looked kind of dazed when he got up. I feel like that made a difference and he coughed it up.”

Does explain a few fair catches he made when the nearest Giant was 10-15 yards away.

The 49ers were better off not having a returner back there on the punts. That was pretty obvious once OT was getting started, to me. Every punt I was holding my breath - and I'm not a fan of either team!

You have to get rid of Smith. He's absolutely terrible. Kid has a lot of heart, but that only gets you so far. You have an excellent defense, a pretty damn good OLine and some key skill players. You're only really missing a veteran QB to tie the pieces together.

Get rid of Smith, ball the fuck out and get somebody...anybody. You know exactly what you've got with him. And what that he is is less than 50 percent completion, 196 yards and balls in the dirt all day in the biggest game of his life.

That would all be fine if it was an aberration. But it's not. Y'all need to dump him pronto. The rest of the team won't stick around forever.

Contrary to what people think, Alex Smith (while not a great QB) isn't the problem with the 49ers offense, its their WRs (or lack thereof).

See? Y'all make excuses for him all damn day. He's been on the team longer than any of those guys. He sucked then, he sucks now, he'll suck tomorrow. But before this excuse it was the OC. Then the head coach. Then Singletary (okay, you're prolly right there). And so forth.

Crabtree isn't as good as he thinks he is. He doesn't get any separation and even if he does, he'll just drop the ball (as witnessed in the Saints game)

Morgan is a possession WR. He's the WR with the best hands on the team and was really missed this year

Ginn is fast, a great KR\PR and a guy who can't catch for shit

Williams has potential, but makes bonehead plays (as witnessed today).

The 49ers have to literally run their offense through Gore and Davis.

Here's the problem, who are they going to replace him with. The Packers aren't going to trade Flynn to SF, so he's out (why would they trade a QB of Flynn's calibur to a conference rival).

And the 49ers O-line isn't damn good, they're one injury away from Chilo Rachal playing (thankfully he's a free agent and I hope they don't resign him).

I don't know if I see Alex being consistent even with more/better WR options.

Teams will figure scam out and you won't escape the NFC South gutter.
We won't either probably...:(

Smith made some big throws, has some speed. Missing 2 out of your main 4 definitely isn't good for WR play.
I haven't seen enough of Smith this year (or any, really) to have a firm opinion one way or another. Doesn't probably matter too much, as with that D they should be in playoff contention if not more for the next few years.

I thought Rachal did a pretty damn good job run blocking.

Nice stealth edit too. ;)

I love Tom Brady. I just know if he doesn't win here he won't be considered one of the best QBs of all time, and QB of the generation goes to P. Manning

He's already one of the best. He's in the class with Marino, and Young. Peyton is already the QB of this generation, and is in the best of all time class with Montana, Elway, and Unitas.

Well, Flynn is a FA, right? Wiki says so.

Anyways, it's too early to say exactly who (Flynn's going to Buffalo) but there can't be too may worse options out there. (McRibb retired, right?)

And back to Baltimore.

How many times can a dominant defense have its heart torn out by their own teammates?

A decade.

At least they squeezed a Super Bowl out of their reign of terror. Ask ole-time Browns fans how they feel about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

The Ravens might have been able to avoid that miss. Cundiff was rushing out onto the field and barely got set up in time.

The snap and hold looked good, but Cundiff pulled it wide. If the Ravens had taken a timeout, Cundiff would have had more time to set up and might have made that kick.

Asked if he thought about using a timeout in that situation, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said, "That never occurred to me. I didn't think that. You know, looking back at it now, maybe there was something we could have done. But in the situation, it didn't seem like we were that rushed on the field. thought we were in pretty good shape."

SMH

We need a new backup RG, because Rachal should never ever play for us again, ever.

Also could use two good WR's. Crabtree needs to earn his spot and at best, based on what I've seen, he's a #2. Morgan, Crabtree and a new #1 would be pretty good, ted Ginn can stay and return punts. Oh, and speaking of, get someone else to be the backup punt/kick returner, for fucks sake.

Exactly I want Brady to win enough that he can overtake Peyton.
Unless he can get in a time machine and assassinate Archie Manning before Peyton was conceived, that ship has sailed. Peyton Manning is an offensive coordinator on the field. His control of the offense is like no other QB has ever demonstrated.
