So I played a bit with my Micro today and sadly, my Pokemon Sapphire's battery is dead. I guess I'll have to replace it somehow.

Funny you should mention that, I plugged Ruby in last week and it gave me a little message about the battery dying too!
Play it like a boss, and remove the cover altogether. Just use it for transportation screen protection!
I am seriously considering getting one of these. My GBA SP has such horrible brightness that I can't get used to after the 3DS. Same with my DS Phat.
I assume the brightness on the Micro is great - at least that's how it looks like from the pictures in this thread. Can't wait to play my old GBA games again!

As long as you are sure you will be alright with the size of the screen. Some people end up not liking it, but I guess since you are already interested, this shouldn't be an issue for you.

There is a properly backlit GBA SP available if you look around a bit.
I only mention it because I find the micro incredibly uncomfortable for anything with shoulder button requirements.
Same here. I also find the color/contrast to be a bit washed out compared to the SP+ and DS screens, but admittedly, I haven't played my GBM in a year or so, so that's just based on memory. The small pixels are kinda cool, but my aging eyes have little patience for it, and portability for me is low priority. Therefore, I'm probably not the target market.

Yeah the model number is AGS-101 (the frontlit SPs are model AGS-001), proper backlight, love my SP and Micro.

Yeah I didn't want to pay 40 bucks for one from gamestop (which you'd still have little luck finding a backlit model) so I searched around on craigslist for a while and found someone selling multiples and one was the 101 model, snagged it for 10 bones with a charger
But seeing as how only Graphite and Pearl Pink/Blue were the only backlit models available in the US (the one I picked up being pearl blue) I took it apart, sanded it down and repainted it white. Came out alright I guess, painted the dpad black to give it some contrast and called it a day.

Just got my Mother 3 Micro today, brand new in the box. Been waiting a long time to get my hands on one and I am a huge fan of the Mother/EarthBound games so it's a big deal for me to finally have it.
Of course, knowing my luck there just had to be a dead pixel on it! One dead, pink, stuck pixel in the middle of the screen. Can't stand it. Anyone know of a reputable repair shop or can anyone confirm if NOA will repair a Japanese Micro?

Just picked up a Famicom Micro myself... Only problem is the screen (faceplate part) has a scuff on it. Anyone know where or how I could pick up a new faceplate for it? I assume the Famicom ones might be hard to come by, but if anyone has ideas I'd really appreciate it!

Thought I'd share a picture of my Micro too (got it last year, its slightly sratched and second hand but I got free faceplates of it (the Orange one) of some guy).
Also a general question, are their any third party carts which can allow someone to put in a GBC or GB cart and play it on the Micro?

The GBA/GBASP entered GBC mode by having small switches being pushed down by the GB/GBC cart, which is why the GBA carts have the small grooves on the edges. Since the Micro doesn't have any form of switch to set off a GBC mode (and, as far as I know, doesn't have a GBC processor on the board like the earlier GBA models), it cannot play GB/GBC games without some kind of software emulator, so you only option would be a GBA flash cart with an emulator and roms.

There are a few packs on amazon.co.uk which include faceplates, although I can't say if they're good quality or not.

Best bet is to call Nintendo and talk to someone in person, explain your situation, never know.

Guys I'm sad. I put my Micro on the charge this morning to have it all ready for my annual Drill Dozer playthrough. So I go over to it some minutes ago to unplug it and start playing. But the system shutoff in under a minute. Trying to power it off/on did nothing. I think I can still play it while plugged in but thats not really comfortable or acceptable ;_;
The batteries a goner isn't it? Is replacing the battery easy & cheap? I don't want it to be dead!

I got mine off amazon brand new(though it was a japanese model). Paid 90 bucks for it but it was worth every penny.....

I'd be interested in getting some; I just bought my first micro, and have no plates. I don't even know what colors and such they are available in, so I can't say I really have specific requests, but anything nice looking in orange would be ideal.

I didn't really check before plugging it in.
I charged it up once... Played about 4 hours of FFV without plugging it in. Battery seems fine.
I won't really know until I call them. I'm getting them from New Zealand but we are served by Nintendo Australia. I'll see what I can get my hands on.
