Halo 4 Announced (MS Conf, 2012, Start Of New Trilogy)

What I dont get is why anyone would want them back?

Didnt we do this already for 3 games???

Also didnt we finally kill them and end the war with the covenant?? So why would either enemy be back? Makes the last two games pointless.

Time for new enemies, and a new mission. Time for a new trilogy not finish the fight part 2.

Who gives a shit about the flood in Halo 4? Why are you people debating Campaign stuff? Multi-player is what makes Halo fun to play. Discuss that instead nerds.
Reach as it stands is one of the greatest FPS games of all time, I could continue to play that definitive Bungie swan song if I just cared about multiplayer. What I really want is new story, seeing what trouble the Chief and Cortana gets themselves into next.

The important thing is, would you play it if the gameplay was bad? And if the gameplay was good, would you play it if the story was bad?

I would more readily play a game with a good story and bad gameplay than good gameplay with a ba story. Just me though.

It will prove 343 is a terrible dev with no ideas.

Seriously, NO FLOOD.

I really don't care about story reasons why they should or can come back, they shouldn't because they're the damn Flood and they suck huge Elite balls.

Oh no, how dare I point out that the Flood are consistently either boring or annoying to fight, never fun.

I'll be honest, I don't really care about the story in Halo.

Ok, I'm not the one constantly whining about other people's opinions about the series.

Are you really telling me that if I buy something I can't complain about it?

Please tell me I'm wrong.

No it isn't you doofus, I can't have fun with an awful game. And yes, they do owe me frikkin fun and entertainment. That's the base reason for buying a damn video game.

Your desperation to claim no one can bitch about Halo's flaws is kind of amusing.

I don't give two shits about story. This is a game, everything is first and foremost serving the gameplay.

Um, are you daft. There's gameplay, and story. For the love of christ.

Because it does. Since you want to insist that the Flood MUST BE IN HALO ALWAYS, it fucks up the gameplay because they have not been fun to fight since they were with the Covenant in Halo 1.

Usually the only troll is the one who throws the first stone.

If having an opinion is trolling, then yes.

No it isn't. Please for the love of god stop insisting that a full story is any sort of requirement for a game.

Big whoop. The huge drawing points for Halo on average are

1. Multiplayer
2. Multiplayer
3. Campaign
4. Co-op campaign.

That's why Halo is so popular, not because of it's thrilling and imaginative universe.

Wonder why everyone is so sensitive? Yep.

Which is why I put it in the list. Campaign is not the story.

What do you mean what does it mean? Are you saying people only play campaign for the story?

And that has already been demonstrated to be wrong in Halo's case. Are you saying that any less storytelling in Halo would completely ruin it? That the gameplay can't stand on it's own? Because it can.

At some point, I think "story" and "context" have been incorrectly tied together in this whole debacle.

Because clearly that is a serious post.

It's a joke because I fucking said it and I will be the sole arbiter of whether or not it's a fucking joke, especially on the fucking internet. Do not for Christ's sake do one of the only things that can actually make me mad and say you know better than I do what I mean and what the purposes of my words are, because that is physically fucking impossible.

Just going to contain this all in one post so people can be aware of your thread shitting.

I would say movies are more your forte. I don't see how someone would play through gameplay they don't like, which dwarfs in size any story content (unless you're playing MGS), for story.

I'm talking for single player. For multiplayer I don't give a damn about story. That's why they're separate things.

Because you shat up an entire thread with your garbage, I want to read about Halo 4, not your terrible posts that make little to no sense and don't have a clue about narrative structure.

It's the internet bro. Cool your head. You just wasted minutes compiling all of my posts for no reason.

At least once. How else would I know the story was bad? Actually I played Halo 3 a bunch of times, so I guess I am willing to forgive a bad story in a Halo game. It doesn't mean the story doesn't matter though, it means that replaying a game has less to do with that story (which I've already absorbed) than it does with moment to moment enjoyment (which does come from the gameplay).

So perhaps the best way to put it is that story matters most to me the first time (which is why I always play alone that first time, despite the fun of co-op), but the strength of the gameplay is what convinces me to run through it again and again.

Speaking in the longer term though, if I didn't care about the world and story of Halo, I wouldn't still be waiting with baited breath for the slightest scrap of news about the 6th game in the series (less Halo Wars). Halo's gameplay will sustain me in the months after it's release, but the story is why It's on my mind months before.

What I was trying to say. Lol.

Campaign is why I have bought all the halo games....

I think Halo's multiplayer is boring....

I'm out. Back to the community forum i go.

:lol

Ouch.

Anyways, Flood. Love them? Nope. Occasionally find them fun? Yep. Do I think they can be elaborated on and evolved into a more interesting enemy? Yup. Would I rather have a new threat? Yup.

I think that sums up my opinions.

Quotetacular.

To be honest, the burst fire from the field rec didn't really sound BRish to me. Just sounded like someone feathering the trigger of an auto.

I think they will do some editing and mixing to make it sound a lot more similar to the BR. But the 3 shot burst weapon has to be used for the BR :D

Am I the only one that likes the DMR over BR and AR?
Naw, I like it better, too. DMR with a locked rate of fire and 2x zoom would be ideal, I think. But going back to the BR isn't a big deal to me. It could work.

Do you see anyone besides him and that other guy still on this discussion?

Look.

Campaign disambiguation
Gaming
A common name for the story mode of a video game.

Games are just the newest medium in which to tell a story like books, film, tv and radio before them.

Campaign and Story are more than just linked they are the same thing.

That being said its a undeniable fact that the flood are integral to the halo story. They are the reason for the halo rings, if not for them you would be playing a game called Globe.
Every Event that happened in any halo game is in some way tied to the flood.

Removing the flood from halo at this point would be a horrible move they have been so tightly woven into the Halo Universe's lore. We get you dont like the flood but instead of reasonably talking about it your just posting crap.

And the whole "uh campaign is about gameplay not story" argument doesn't fly at all, Gameplay is important but its also a key point of delivering the story, if story was as unimportant as you say then Halo would be no where near as successful as it is.

I like both the DMR and the BR. THough the BR feels more satisfying to use imo.

I think if the DMR had a 2x scope and a locked firing rate when no bloom, I would like it more.
