Man guys, I am so excited for the trade deadline tomorrow, it is going to be so great, I can't wait for all of these huge trades that will be covered and how Holland is going to go out and help Detroit win the Stanley Cup this year. I just know that he is not afraid to make a splash for a possible top 6 guy or a bottom 6 center. I know let's check our reliable rumor sites to see what will happen next!!!!

Hmmm... let's see first up is hockey buzz they are usually pretty reli........

LOL

We need energy and a spark, not this. Not this.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not even going to sleep just in case something big happens between the hours of 2am and 10am. SO EXCITED!

Don't think deals usually happen now.

Also don't sense a lot of trades on trade day either...

I'm not sure what the Leafs can do at this point.

We need goaltending. #1 centreman. And most of all a new coach, which won't happen.

Likely Grabovski is gone though.

Gonna be hard to stomach that. I do hope we re-sign him. If not now, in the summer. I do understand that it's probably for the best to get assets back for him.

I don't think there'll be much deals going on. It'll be a whole day of watching Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger faux-work on their little table on their laptops and Blackberries.

Funny memory I had from a past Tradecentre: Duthie introduces the Insiders, camera switches to focus on the table, and Bob McKenzie takes off his earpiece and takes a phone call, and walks away from the table. Dramatic as fuck.

Gary Valk is a fucking idiot and Sportsnet is full of them.

Cody Hodgson is not going to be traded. Period. Unless it's for Shea Weber, there is absolutely no one available that's worth throwing Hodgson into a trade with.

Would be very surprised if there isnt an Avs-Snes trade tomorrow. They was only one scout for todays game and it was from Colorado for the 5th time this week.

Please take one of Carkner or Knopka away.

My wishlist for tomorrow : Campoli, Darche, Kostitsyn, Weber find new homes, possibly Moen if it's worth it, and Gomez and Kaberle both get hit by a meteorite on the way to the arena tomorrow.

I'm starting to like the vancouver sun writers, this one on the Canucks/Luongo celebration after the Detroit win:

Sure, all of this was welcome, exciting, and downright hilarious to Canuck nation (myself included), but to the Red Wings and their fans (some of whom were weeping as though they’d forgotten what losing at home felt like) it had to be pretty tough to take. The Canucks didn’t just celebrate a win — they reveled in kicking over someone else’s sand castle.

In the long run, it doesn’t matter all that much, but the next time someone talks about the Canucks being hated, instances like this are evidence of why. If you’re going to showboat after a win, you’d better be okay with being known as a team that showboats after a win.

[...]

Granted, if the rumours of their interest in Steve Ott are any indications, the organization hardly cares.

Just imagine guys, Lapierre, Burrows, Kesler and Ott on the same team. IMAGINE.

Also, this one, from the same blog, on the NJ-VAN game:

Aaron Rome opened the scoring for the Canucks, picking up a rebound on a Chris Tanev shot at the side of the net and beating an out-of-position Martin Brodeur. For the record, struggling to control a rebound on a Chris Tanev shot is evidence that your days as an NHL-caliber goaltender are numbered. I mean, I’m not saying that Tanev shots are soft, but sometimes they’re mistaken for Bon Iver songs.

[...]

While attempting to beat out an icing call in the second, Ryan Kesler caught an edge and hit the wall hard. He must have been upset, because he spent the rest of the night shooting at it.

Whether or not we get a #4 defensemen tomorrow is really going to shine a light on what management and coaching thinks about Chris Tanev.

If we don't grab a defensemen, then it means they feel that he's ready to play 20+ minutes in a playoff situation, which would be a major vote of confidence for the kid.

Shero is known for making blockbuster deadline deals but I wouldn't be shocked if nothing at all happens for the Pens. Rumor has it that he's more concerned with getting Crosby and Staal resigned. I hope that's true.

I would first figure out if Crosby will be able to play again without having concussion problems after 10 games or so before I would resign him.

The Pens can afford to pay him if he ends up having to retire or sits on IR for awhile. There really isn't any reason not to play it safe when it comes to locking Crosby up.

Deadline Day predictions:

- TSN/Sportscentre "experts" will spend the first 3 hours talking about some guy named Patrick Dwyer and "what tools he can bring" to the Minnesota Wild while showing the same clips again and again with 90s instrumental rock playing in the background.
- Two teams will be fleeced.
- Mike Gillis will make two marginal "depth moves".
- Pierre McGuire will make a homoerotic advance toward Darren Dutchyshen.
- Rick Nash will remain in Columbus.
- Many of us will be disappointed.

^ I can see most if not all of those things happening. I have a feeling it is going to be very boring day considering nothing really got done today, and they only have until 3 tomorrow for something.

I avoided all hockey games today so I could catch up on some missed gaming time, so I decided to check the scores... aaaaaaand...

...the Hawks lost again. So, here comes the 10 game losing streak again! Makes me start to seriously think the Hawks aren't going to make the playoffs... they will struggle to keep in the race and then shit the bed at the end and miss them. Such a terrible fall... an amazing team at the beginning of the season and now they pretty much fucking suck. They win a few games, and then lose double that total!

Oh yeah? Well my sources are telling me that Columbus is going to trade Rick Nash to Sportsnet Ontario for Doug MacLean, straight up. Then Sportsnet Ontario is going to trade Rick Nash to Sportsnet Pacific for future considerations, where Rick Nash will then be awarded to the Vancouver Canucks by Garry Valk and John Garrett.
