he used to be a really really solid defensive centerman, The way i remember it was that he was a big part om the Stanley cup in Anaheim. but it might be since he is Swedish.
He used to be a pretty great 3rd/4th line defensive Center, shutdown guy that could also score some timely goals.

He's definitely declined though, especially his offense which is nonexistant now.

Seriously. I'm sure Nash genuinely believed Columbus was going to turn things around and he wanted to be a part of that for the long-term.

I just proved that the Maple Leafs are no different. Why is signing with Columbus looked down upon in comparison to Toronto if the argumental factor is the team's success?

I guess a Lapierre-Malhotra-Pahlsson shutdown line does look pretty good.

Also, looks like Chris Tanev's going to stick with the team now if they didn't get another defenseman.

An all-center-line? So maybe Alberts won't have to play Winger again... It all really comes down to whether or not Pahlsson can play winger. Can he?

I wasn't being sarcastic. I actually agreed with you.

Definitely can see how you could have thought I was disagreeing. Bad writing on my behalf.

Gaustad to Nashville, just great, Holland sat on his thumbs and didn't get a depth center unless something last minute comes through. Also Lidstrom is limping badly I guess as well which is why Smith was called up. With that said, gif time again for Holland's big move being trading Commie for nothing.

Yup:

Gm Holland to Free Press: #redwings are done, no other moves today

Did I say successful market? I said shitty market

At least in Toronto you'll be playing in front of a sold out building all the time

So the entire Central division got better except for Detroit?

Seems about right. Way to use up that cap space, Kenny!

Looking forward to another 9th or 10th place finish for the Leafs again this season. Ah well, "there's always next season.™"

Signed,

A Leafs fan

Alright. Let's say he signed with Tampa Bay then? He would have ended up with a cup in front of the worst market in professional sports.

according to dreger... "mammoth" offer for rick nash by new york was declined by columbus

columbus is dragging nash into obscurity

Nashville is really pushing it this year, I can only hope all of these trades completely backfire and that Suter then signs with Detroit in the off-season just to rub it in.

Any idea what the Sabres got back for Gaustad? People saying that it's a 1st round pick, but nothing from a reliable source.

LeBrun: "Canucks may have one trade left to make. Not confirmed who"

It's like Christmas and you spot that one last present against the wall, obscured by the drapes..... but it turns out to be a pair of socks.

Short term Sharks got better. Really excited to see what Galiardi can do for us, sounds like Sacco stifled him.

Murray and Havlat skating again, great news. Moore should be back tomorrow. Coutures injury is the only question mark, and it's a big fucking question mark.

Wings out in 2nd round confirmed again.

Also, looks like EVERYONE was asking way too much for the better guys. The market is overvalued right now.

Apparently Pahlson can play wing. He'll probably slot in on the right side. People are worried he's a Hodgson replacement, but it's pretty obvious he's a Weise/Bitz replacement.

AV wants a pure defensive shutdown 4th line, and Malhotra-Lapierre-Pahlsson certainly fits that bill. Have them start in the defensive zone, win the draw, get the puck out, and then get an offensive line out. It's what they've been doing all season long and it's certainly been working.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Bob Mackenzie ain't no Santa Claus.

weber, suter and rinne

they are placing their hopes on gaustad

long live king gaustad!!

:lol Well if his career is any sort of indication, he'll show up about a third of the games, be invisible the rest.

I do wish him the best. He's a good guy, great on faceoffs, and is a solid defensive player. Great PKer. One of the slowest skaters in the NHL, though.

Rumor that David Jones of the Avs might be going to the Pens. WHAT WILL ZARAKI THINK?

:lol Seems it's not true anyhow. He's been finally heating up and had a good season last season. Pens could do a lot worse if they had gone for him.

I'm not sure how the avs trade is. I know pretty much nothing about those shark prospects so I'm not sure if it's decent in the end. I don't really see the point of it since I'm assuming the prospects are only so good... since they got two.

Apparently NYR made "mammoth" offer for Nash according to Dreger and they still didn't take it. Haha fuck Howson. Can't wait to see the paltry return he gets for Nash at the draft when 4 of the 5 teams on his list have other irons in the fire. Rangers aren't going to be interested in the summer, so there goes 1 right away.
