for a layman such as myself - can someone compare the tech specifics between the iPad 3 and the PS Vita? I'm trying to win an argument with someone at work.

Ipad 3: dual core CPU (based on rumors) + quad Core GPU with no dedicated VRAM (most likely)
Vita: quad core CPU + quad core GPU with 128MB VRAM

Both use the same kind of CPU (arm) and GPU (power vr)

Also, Ipad has to render things in 4x higher resolution to make use of that new screen, so I think a lot of its new power will just go towards satiating that.I don't really expect high end games to do that though.

I use an MBA and iMac for portable / home use, but the iPad looks pretty slick. What features does it have that make it worth the money, particularly when the MBA does a pretty good job of being lightweight and portable.

16gb will go faster with higher resolution assets in games + 1080p video. They really should have started this at 32gb for $499. I don't think the 16 gig is a good deal at all.

The iPad3 resolution is kinda retarded for anything other than iPad apps.

True... even PCs with up to date hardware struggle in 1080p (one GPU)... Tegra is powerful but not as PC's GPUs.

I guess it's just a move from Apple to claim to be the first in doing this even though they won't be able to utilize it to it's fullest.

I have a feeling most 3D-intensive games will still be rendered at 1024x768 and take advantage of the new graphics horsepower for better lighting/effects/geometry and AA. The perfect 4x pixel upscaling should also negate the hazy upscaling we see on console games.
