I feel kinda unwanted these days. 7th tends to ignore me and no one in here really likes talking about sakuga anymore. Instead there's some sort of cult thing going on with korean-american animation. It's all so weird. :(

Suckuga is not cool now that more people like it. Join the korean-american animu-like revolution.

I want to talk in here because I like you guys and I don't know those other guys except Wiseblade and Ignis.

I don't ignore you, I read all of your posts. I'm just too lazy to reply; my short sarcastic quips need some work.

Well don't we need some shows to actually air to talk about that?

wait wait wait
you were ok with everything in One Piece until people turned into giraffes and shit?
not anything before that?

the going merry coming to life was explained and foreshadowed long before it came to them, its weird but its not an asspull by any means

No, I was bothered with stuff before that (like Chopper). I took a break, started up again because Water 7 was supposed to be incredible, then the giraffes and hippos and nakama cry powerups happened. It's just goofy as fuck. Not saying it's bad, as I wouldn't have watched several hundred episodes if it was*, but it's not anywhere near as great as people (mostly in the manga thread) would suggest. It's the kind of thing I'd love to watch along with my son, if I had one. But as for objectivity? It's OK.

*Actually, I might have. Back then I was DTL-light when it comes to shounen.

Addendum: I never finished Avatar, mostly because the main character was a dude (plus he was bald a lot of the time) since Korra is a girl (and is never bald) it's already way better.
Wait the main character in Avatar is a dude? suddenly I have less desire to watch it now. Female lead or bust.

Quick, we need some Filipino animation to discuss.

(Why is Filipino spelled with an "f" but Philippines with a "ph"?)

I'm surprised you know to spell it with an F!

[history lesson]
The Ph is the Americanized name from the original Spanish name Felipinas. The Americans just never bothered to change how they referred to themselves.
[/history lesson]

Parodeeees. The comparison.

I'd be more interested in watching the Gintama version.

are they Hon/Dota gaf? explains the saltiness
They're both Mangaf and I know Ignis IRL.

There are a few DOTAGAF/HoNGAF animu fans but they don't post here because you're all a bunch of creepy pervs.

Truly, we ruin everything we touch.
Don't we need to actually watch it first?
I watched it, it was good, and now I have no desire to play the game at any point in the future because it's not going to top that.

Here we have a case study of what watching crappy Korean cartoons does to your brain. It destroys your ability to communicate in proper English.

suddenlypedanticpondfowl, stop shooting the messenger, it's not my fault Blood-C turned out so bad.

Why would you even want to talk about Korra in here? It has a huge OT and appears to be super popular already, pre-air. Are you all afraid to interact with non-anime GAF or something?

No. That's not it at all.

Wait, is this a thing now?

Why are we talking about American cartoons in the anime thread? Doesn't it have its own thread?

Nah, it's not a thing. It being in the OP started as a joke playing off of that whole debate in the last thread, really, but the show is genuinely great and it being in the OP has naturally sparked discussion on it. I was replying, but also have no real issues with not discussing it in here, as much as I find the line kind of arbitrary. I also figured the talk on it would basically cease once the season kicked into gear, but didn't at all think that there would be an actual uproar before that happened.

Kiyoshirou Inoue's new Steins;Gate has better art than either the game or the anime. True fact.

Wait...what? There's more Steins Gate?

Yeah, I was amazed at how "exact" it was in the Gintama version. lol

If we're taking votes on it, I vote no. Its not really an arbitrary line at all considering that Anime as it is accepted in English refers to Japanese animation broadcast in Japan.

Going offtopic that massively will only hasten us getting moved to community.

this is what confuses me
the show is 'goofy as fuck' right from the start and that is its hook

Pardon me, I thought the hook was the plot, character development and action. That's what I expect, anyway. Different strokes.

...Tell me about this other Steins;Gate stuff.

Perhaps that may be, but is there fanservice? Tell me there's fanservice. It's important.
Otherwise I may have to dock points :(
Not a lot, it's children's entertainment remember.

And this means something very different in America than it does in glorious Nippon.

Korra's design is excellent though. And she rides a polarbear dog.

You expect those things from shounen anime? (action, sure)
id say that the wackiness and originality are definitely the hook

I'm trying to think of examples of things that could legitimately be labeled fanservice in Western cartoons now. Surely there has to be some instance of it.
