Max Payne 3 PC Features Detailed.

Intel Core i5 2500K 3.3GHz
PNY GTX 580 1536MB
G-Skill 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory Kit

Running like a god damn hot knife, through butter.

Any luck getting vsync to work? Pretty much can't play at 200+ FPS. Cards are getting too hot. :(

Getting perfect scaling here on Nvidia 98% GPU usage on both GPUs

Frames in the 120+ range. Also seems that during play my VRAM is about 1.5GB, but when you go to the settings menu it says Video Memory : 4000MB / 6000MB

:shrug

I'm pretty the numbers double on the options page if you have a multi-gpu setup. So it should actually be 2000MB / 3000MB.

tell us how it goes.

It'll be sometime tomorrow since my DL dropped back down to 50% after decryption finished O_o I have no idea what's going on with it so I'm just gonna call it a night and let it do its thing haha.

Also yes can we have some clarification Sethos' comment about the sluggish mouse control? It's Max Payne, it needs to have flawless mouse control.

Quick notes

- HDAO looks great compared to SSAO, small FPS hit
- Game runs smooth overall
- Though odd FPS hits when you run into dead bodies and move them, physics seem to take a huge chunk of performance? ( Happens sometimes, rarely actually )
- That fucking mouse acceleration and sluggishness. Moving my mouse all the way across my mousepad 2-3 times to move it half a screen? Get out. This will kill me.

So they did a fine port, this time?

Performance wise it feels really incredible. Haven't actually played much because of the issues I'm having with Vsync.

Can someone please let me know if you are able to cap the frame-rate to 60FPS in DX10/11 mode? That seems to be the issue I am having. DX9 it's works in everything else it doesn't.

try Dxtory. Its a footage capturing program but it includes a way to cap the framerate at 60fps without the use of vsync.

Got that same error, so I checked windows updates and it looks like I didn't have the service pack 1 update installed. I'm hoping this was the problem.

Anyone know how big SP1 download is? I'm away from my PC so I can't check but I don't think I have it installed.

I have Win 7 64x.

God damn this game looks good

Haven't had any crashes yet, as some seem to do fortunately. Despite the mouse issue the game is fantastic. The cutscenes however are doing my head in, too many of them already.

get used to the cutscenes at least in the beginning of the game.

The game is running brilliantly for me on a GTX 470 in DX 11 with everything cranked. I couldn't be happier with the performance. This is leaps and bounds beyond the state GTA IV released in.

wow, the backgrounds just look so much clearer than the PS3 version. I played that part on the roof with the blue city lights on ps3, and the buildings in the distance were blurry.

Runs really great on my system.

I put on MSAA 2x on top of FXAA on high just to see and I get surprisingly good framerates. 45-60 for the most part minus one part in the opening gameplay section of Chapter II where it dipped to 30 for a few seconds. The game feels really great with a 360 controller. The reticle speed is perfect.

I'm going to turn off MSAA and see how much of a difference that makes.

Graphics are stunning:

I was surprised by the amount of aliasing in the screens although it doesn't look quite as dramatic as when you are actually playing.

Overall, it looks like they really did a nice job on the PC version.

Ok cool..glad it wasn't just me. Still looks damn good though.

Is there a launcher hidden somewhere to change settings or do I have to watch that long ass intro cutscene? I was trying to get them set up for tomorrow before gttv came on but I was stuck with their wannabe movie intro before even a main menu came up.

Wonderful, my game refuses to even start. The process starts just to die for no reason at all 2 seconds later. No error messages or anything. I have tried re-installing all the setups in the game folder and still no luck.

=/

the cut scenes hide the loading so i don't think you can skip?

Did you verify the integrity of the game ( If you are on Steam ofc. )

I like how the main menu is more performance intensive than the game itself.

Yeah it said loading but I didn't even get a main menu first. Rockstar pisses me off with this stuff because they purposely make things obtuse and complicated to get their movie-schtick off. It happens in every one of their games this gen in some way.

Goddamn this game looks good on PC. The vsync is weird, though... on my card, at least (GTX 680). When the FPS gets close to 30, it syncs to 30 and makes the aiming sluggish. Had to dial back the MSAA a bit in order to maintain a steady 60 and keep the aiming responsive.

This.

I changed to HDAO and turned off MSAA 2x and the game looks significantly better and the framerate has been 60fps in the first chapter when I redid it just now compared to it dipping into the 50's/high 40's at times.

Also, I had a weird white outline on Max that went away when I changed the settings:

Outline

No outline

What are your graphic settings? I'm guessing with your card if you're hitting very high, I could at least get high with minimal AA.

Sorry to be all dramatic now but the mouse acceleration is borderline ruining the game. Feels like my mouse is a big fat wobbly console controller, mushy god damn aiming and it feels like I can't hit shit. Gets even worse when Max is on the ground, takes 50 runs across the mousepad to move it a few inches, plus it gets even more sluggish and laggy.

Figured out what my vsync issue was. The EVGA Precision wasn't playing nice with the game. Once I turned it off the D3Doverrider kicked in and now it's working wonderfully.

One thing I notice though. MSAA doesn't seem to do a damn thing. It shows my memory usage going up in the menu but it doesn't look like any kind of anti aliasing is happening.

Im sad to say that it doesnt surprise me. A part of me felt that the controller focus would end up in Rockstar screwing up something like this. Fuck.

My copy isn't even close to being done on Steam, so I don't know how effective this will be at alleviating you guys' issues though.

Btw they seem to be eyeing the support twitter + steam forums so if you want more comprehensive mouse options I'd raise hell in one of the aforementioned to get their attention.

Really? I didn't think it was that bad. The only time it was really sluggish to me was the menu.

Yep, I've noticed this too. Weird.

Will try, thanks.

This isn't meant to be condescending, but did you restart the game after you chose it? Other than that, I honestly didn't see a big difference with it on, so it isn't worth the performance hit IMO.

EDIT: Whoops, on my comparison I put the same the same screenshot up twice. LMAO...Fixed it now
