Switch the dpad and the analog on the dual shock. Fix the dpad on the 360 and at least package it with a play and charge kit.
DS3, fucking triggers are ass, give it fucking triggers that don't feel like mushy crap when you press down on them.
Better yet, get rid of triggers and just give me buttons. Those things are only used properly in racers, and racers are meant to be played with a wheel and pedals anyway. Triggers don't give immediate response in action games and are simply an annoyance.
I don't really about any other change. Some haptic touch gimmick or positional rumble would be cool, I guess.
The main reason I play 360 over ps3 is the controller with my big hands I feel like i'm gonna break the dang thing and my hands cramp holding something that small....which really bothers me because I really love PS3 games...
I don't mind the layout or whatever I can get use to all that but just make it feel like i'm actually holding something.....

EDIT.
.. looking at it now, nothing about the 360 controller is that great, if you've used the logitech precision, you've held the best controller ever.
The off set 360 analog sticks are stupid.
360 triggers are really good for racing games though.
PS3
When it's not plugged in, it's on. Always. During movies, Netflix, etc. Runs out of juice whenever i want to play a game. CAn we get it to turn itself off like the 360?
360:
Better dpad
Little less weight
PS3:
Better sticks! Less shitty deadzone
More weight! Feels so cheap
Might be a matter of SCE requirements then that should be overhauled with the next generation. Or their controllers tweaked so mandated such a large dead zone ISN'T necessary, it may well be the result of some games on PS1, like Star Ocean 2, having SLIGHT movement because the small dead zone they had, though on my controller that's usually fixed instantly just by doing a circle. The deadzone is actually due to software on the PS3. When I use the DS3 on my PC the deadzone is virtually non-existent
Think it depends on grip and the type of game played, but I generally prefer the Dual Shock just because it's one of the best general purpose controllers, maybe even THE best (at least in the DS2 incarnation) out there. The 360's specialized for games in a 3D space, and the GC controller required games be optimized FOR it.I don't know what it is about the 360 controller, but it gives me cramps..I'm actually okay with the Dualshock.
damn you OS X and your variety of random features ::shakes fist::OS X comes with DS3 drivers![]()
I could hardly care less about console exclusivity, especially knowing that for the first party ones neither would allow it, but PC compatibility should absolutely be there for the Dual Shock. I guess a problem may be getting games to properly support it, AND use those buttons.
Though similar to the Xbox, PC is probably seen as a "competitor", whereas Microsoft can afford to roll with it since that still benefits them in some way.
The 360 controller is actually worse since they have one for the PC, they just make you buy a whole different one rather than allowing you to use the 360 one on the PC
No they don't? "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows" is just packaging. You do need a Microsoft-made dongle to use wireless ones on PC, but they're the same models as you use on the console.

What doesn't work is connecting through USB via the recharging kit and using it that way, and that's one of those things I want changed. And in that regard you could be partially right anyway: I managed to have two wireless receivers, but one broke (somehow) and without those to get an official one you'd need to buy either a PC-branded wireless controller or a wireless headset that uses that receiver, and given the flakiness of the receiver a wired controller is probably the best option anyway.....What
A friend told me ages ago that it wouldn't work with the wireless ones and I sort of believed him simply because I never could get it to work on my pc. Stupid me. I wonder why it wouldn't work now.
DS3 is pretty much perfect.
Only main thing I would add is better triggers, but I wouldn't mind if it was a bit bigger so sticks are farther apart and give some texture on the handles so there are air gaps.

I still stand by the dualshock needing it for DS4
- Let it actually connect through a USB cord like the DualShock 3. I'd love to treat it the same way, a wireless controller on a full charge and a wired one when not, as is I've been ignoring my wireless controllers in favor of the wired one my brother got me for my birthday.
Everyone wanting a built-in rechargeable battery in the 360 pad is insane. The ability to use AAs is one of the best things about the 360 pad.
360:
- Better D-Pad
- Make the triggers not squeak after months of use
- Make the rubber around the joysticks not so easy to crack
PS3:
- Make it like the 360 pad
You mean that D pad that Nintendo has a very strong, clear patent on?
Okay, thats what I originally thought. The 360 controllers should just have a straight USB connection or connection via bluetooth. Especially since the wireless receivers are more expensive then they should be and don't come with the system/controllers.What doesn't work is connecting through USB via the recharging kit and using it that way, and that's one of those things I want changed. Haha yeah I switch my 360 controller between the console and my PC all the time.

I have said it before and Ill keep saying it until it happens.
Split the current button configuration across two nunchucks with next gen motion sensors in them.
Combined with a newer/better camera for body tracking stuff and you would be able to do play almost anything out today across wii-kinect-ps360.
