Happy Independence Day, Americans!

9 isn't true anymore, 7... well, at least it starts with the caveat "as compared to other countries," but which ones?

Wait, we're not innovating anymore? And did all the other shit we invented or innovate on disappear? Because #9 is saying, "hey, we've invented a lot of awesome shit". The second half of it sadly focuses on the bullshit patent system, but hey.

#7 is weak but I wouldn't say it's true or false. It just is a blah entry on the list.

I mean, I guess we're innovating but not as much as we used to.

Can't wait to party with the most patriotic motherfuckers tomorrow. Mexican-Americans. Best part of living in a town full of Mexicans. Those dudes go all out on the food. My neighbour was getting a pig and a cow ready to cook in the morning. Shit they were BBQ'in when I left for work at 10 p.m.

wasn't too shabby nor expensive. shall visit more often.

hm, my American sensibilities tells me that the cafe needs at least eight more American flags to be "American enough", but still... pretty nice!

This thread is very confusing. I have no idea when satire or irony is intended and when the pictures are meant to be earnest.

haha, I think most of us actually do love the country (I know I do; plus I work at an Army Depot), but a lot of it is sarcastic jabs at the insane patriotism some people partake in. It's all in good fun :)

That's good to know. Some of those pictures are insane. Are the people who are making them also in on the joke, or not always?

Here are some random things I can thank America for:

Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Scorcese movies, DC and Marvel, Seinfeld, Arrested Development, Calvin & Hobbes & the Pixies. To name a few.

I'm just glad that once a year, every year, we have a holiday on whose noble occasion we can forget our petty differences with our fellow man and gather in joyous celebration, with wind in our flags and a song in our hearts, to remember that we are definitely better than everyone else.

America, fuck yeah! God loves us best.
