DSi or DSi XL?
DSi XL. Games like Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games looked wonderful in that huge screen.
CPP or MH?
CCP.
The original one barely exists, I doubt Nintendo would even bother with a bigger one.

Well, if they wouldn't have gone to Sharp and told them to find a way to make that original 3D screen even lower resolution, it wouldn't have been such an issue. Conversely, if the Japanese would just START FUCKING ADOPTING AA, it wouldn't be that big of a problem either. But in the current situation, it's pretty much what it is. Unless you want changes in pixels ratios, you'd have to increase the resolution by a crazy rate to get something like 4X the resolution (to keep a square pixel square in scaling).

My Father is in Austria in 28.7-1.8, Should I tell him to get me the XL?
I'm conflicted whether to get it so soon because well, I dunno if buying console at launch is very smart, because lots of consoles was flawed at launch.
also, I dunno if the price range between Israel and Austria would be that great,
in Israel I get one year warranty, in Austria whatever I get it can't be used.
Whoa, interesting. I own Crush 3D, but haven't tried it yet. I really should, I'd love to see in-game AA.Zen Pinball and Marvell Pinball both use 4X SSAA in 3D, which is almost like playing a bullshot. Of course, this is not viable for games with more complex graphics at all. Crush3D and Order Up both use a milder AA in 3D too.
Crush3D uses vertical 2X AA (vertical edges are antialiased) while Order Up seems to be rendering at a 50% larger resolution and scaling down (all edges are antialiased, but it's not as smooth as Zen's games).
I believe any 3DS game which is light on shaders and transparencies could use some sort of AA without much problem.

Edge impressions. Display sounds weak, not 100% sure if I should buy it now.
It's bad when my first thought, without intending a pun, is "yeah that game's going to have a lot of ghosting issues now that I think about it." :/I see what you did there

I recieved my press 3DS XL today.
I don't think the 3D or the viewing angle has improved. Only the viewing angle seems a bit more forgiving when you move the 3DS in the vertical way.
Games look pretty nice on that big screen, no blurrier or more pixelated than 3DS.![]()

I am a Dutch editor, so I'll be making a sort of a review soon on my site. I don't do Youtube vids, but you can always ask me a question here.

I've never had a problem viewing 3D on the system - it wouldn't matter to me if the viewing angles improved.
Also, is the Red XL solid while Blue and Silver are metallic? Seems that way in pics but I viewed them on a phone
Is it the silver one like all the other press sites or did you get another colour?
Is it easier to see the 3D now? I'm guessing since the screen is larger, the effect should look better, and thing should pop-out more. How's the build quality? What about the stylus? Do you think it might become loose with the time, like DS lite's?
Nice, same country. Post some pics then please. Good to hear pixel density is no problem![]()
Jesus, that thing is huge. One of the reasons why I wish handhelds were smaller. I want a 3DS, but it'll be the OG.
It's not a replacement for the 3DS. It's another option.

Nintendo is significantly reducing the retail price of its AC adapters for 3DS, DSi, DS XL and 3DS XL in Japan.
Starting 12th July, the prices will drop from ¥1,500 (just over £12) to ¥1,000 (£8), Andriasang has reported.
This follows news that the 3DS would not be packaged with an AC adapter - a move met with consternation by many. While the US release in August will see it bundled with a charger, Europe will have no such luck upon the system's launch on 28th July. Perhaps this price drop is indicative of something that could happen here as well.
For more information about the system, Digital Foundry just released its official 3DS XL review earlier today.
"This enlarged system is the clear choice if you've yet to dip your toe into the waters of glasses-free 3D gaming, but we're not entirely sure it offers enough benefits over the previous hardware model to justify the making the transition - which, thanks to Nintendo's lacklustre data transfer procedure, is quite painful," wrote Damien McFerran in his
appraisal.

Wow
Wow
They do that but still keep it out of box? Makes little sense to me. Oh well, NA still wins![]()

There is a cradle but it isn't bundled with any systems. It will probably be around $10 separate if I were to guess.Does it still come with a cradle?
How is the build quality, Phazon?
I'm loving the fact that the system now has a matte finish but did you find the quality too cheap or plasticky? Also, does the matte finish avoid as many fingerprints as the default model?
What are your impressions of the screen beyond 3D images? I don't play any games in 3D other than Super Mario 3D Land and often forget the feature exists sometimes, so talk of the sweet spot means little to me, but how is the screen for standard 2D gaming? I know you said the image looks no blurrier than a normal 3DS, but did it add anything particularly extra for you? Are the colours brighter or more saturated?
well SHIT.Aside from the 3DS, the screen is just bigger. I always play games with lights set to power save mode and setting 3. I've just put them next to each other and noticed something strange. The image of the XL is much more 'yellow'-like than my 3DS. I've read something about some 3DS'es that have the same problem, but I can see the difference clearly now. I actually like the light from my 3DS more. In terms of intensity, it looks the same as the 3DS. Maybe there are some other people who noticed that too, I don't know.

edit: here's a pic that discribes my findings.
So the 3DS XL looks like the right one and my 3DS like the left one.
The problem with the 3DSs 3D screen has always been keeping your head and the 3DS in the right position in relation to each other. Shift either by half an inch, and you found yourself in the land of double vision. The 3DS XL doesnt alleviate this problem entirely, but theres a little more margin for error
Wow, thank you. Great impressions (if a little disconcerting regarding the screen)
Does this affect the games themselves in any negative way? Whenever I've seen those yellow comparisons it's always been on the menu screen. Do games look worse, or yellowed, in any way while playing?
Feel free to say if you're not able to do so, but a side by side comparison of your XL and non-yellow 3DS running the same game would be brilliant, if you're able to provide it. Don't worry if not though.
All LCD screens have varying colour temperature. There's a good chance the XL has many "cool" screens also.well SHIT.
If it's like this for all systems I'll be severely disappointed. I notice this on my friends Zelda 3DS and compared to my launch 3DS it looks much worse.
ughhhh
EDIT: saw that picture.
FUCK NOOOOO
Thanks Phazon. You made up my mind on upgrading to an XL. I'm glad to hear the hinge is tighter, the 3D slider is firmer, the D-pad feels like a real D-pad and the 3D quality is better.
Edit: I forgot to mention the most important part. It's more comfortable. I have larger hands and I found they would get cramped on the 3DS.
