So the white 3ds ll is three hundred and ninety nine US dollars on play-asia.

Anywhere else I can pick it up for a reasonable price? Jesus.

In the "Far Far Future"-shop. Probably when you just decided to an other color. At least that happens to me most the time. ;)

_The ppi is pretty bad, and people saying "oh i didn't even noticed it" have pretty bad eyes. It basically look like a nds where you clearly see a grid of pixel. For games with small things, like the new mario bros 2, it's pretty weird. Mario looks like he's a mosaic lol. Now it's not ugly but it's clearly different than the original console.

Thats exactly what I suspected, given that the 3DS XL will have nearly the same ppi as a DSi or GBA... at least it's higher then the 76ppi on the DSi XL and people seem happy with that.

how much is amazon.co.jp selling it for?

maybe you could order it yourself from amazon.co.jp and use a shipping forwarding service like www.whiterabbitexpress.com or www.tenso.com/en/

I've given the XL to some people and most of them really liked it. A lot of those people have pretty big hands, so the XL is much better for them. The quality of the buttons was also something that they like.

Also, someone could finally see the 3D better. (so I guess that's a very subjective and individual thing)

The screen from the XL still has that 'yellow' look and therefore less brightness than my normal 3DS, but I don't know if other people have this problem.

As for crosstalk, it was something I noticed in the menu of RE: Revelations. I can see that effect both on my XL and 3DS. Are there other people who see this in Revelations on their 3DS?

it's now about the same as the DSi ppi, and I don't know anyone who ever said that was "pretty bad" or "a grid of pixels" or "mosaic".

I notice crosstalk with my 3ds to (atleast when maxed).

hey, what's the 3dsxl's code name?. Like DSi had TWL, Wii had RVL etc.

I was about to mention this, the depth can have an effect on crosstalk. I noticed it on the 3D TV I got a little while back, some sample videos were way off and I had to reduce the depth manually. It wasn't that you could see the other eye's image, it was just that the alignment was just too far off for your eyes/brain to combine them properly.

SPR I think

It's indeed much more when the 3D effect is higher, but I can even see it at the lowest 3D effect on both devices.

How bad is the yellowish tone ?

Does it make blue look very greenish for example ?

That would be a very serious drawback if the colors feel wrong

Also is the problem only in a few of 3DS XL or all, i read some 3DS screens had the same issue

Just had a play on one:

Red is glorious in person.
Thing is fucking comfortable.
Games looked great. No visible "grid" that I've been hearing about.
No improved sweet spot.
The screens look really amazing.

That is all.

Man I need a real good picture of red. Still going blue but a good red pic could change my mind.

Thanks for the impressions!

Not sure if it has already been confirmed but is the WHOLE thing matte finished? Like no glossy plastic on either the outside or inside?

Why couldn't we get black or white in the US? Nintendo would have got my money day 1 but I just can't see myself getting a red or blue handheld unless Best Buy tosses in a $50 GC or something. Does Nintendo not want my money?

So regular Future Shop won't have it?

Oh wow, that sounds nice. Matte is all scratchy, and glossy leaves fingerprints everywhere. It may be "cheaper" but it's much nicer to actually hold and use.

The inside is more alike to the DSi though, but the outside (to me) feels very much DS phat.

in a good way, not in a 'lol this is fuck ugly' way.

I truly do want to get one on Day 1, but I was leaning more toward that matte gray color they showed on the jpn Nintendo Direct, but that is not launching here on the 19th.

I need to see this red in person, so I can get an idea if I want it or not...

So... why won't Amazon stock these? is there any other decent online retailer I could order it from?

There was something a while back about them experiencing a large number of returns due to inconsistencies in the hinge and screen quality of the first batch of 3DSs. I think that ended up costing them a lot of money and they decided not to carry that hardware anymore.

My Father is in Austria in 28.7-1.8, Should I tell him to get me the XL?
I'm conflicted whether to get it so soon because well, I dunno if buying console at launch is very smart, because lots of consoles was flawed at launch.
also, I dunno if the price range between Israel and Austria would be that great,
in Israel I get one year warranty, in Austria whatever I get it can't be used.

What does this mean?

I saw Nintendo is going to have the 3DS XL units at SD Comic Con. I'm glad I'm not going. I don't wanna torture myself by playing it and possibly really liking it - then not being able to play until next month. :\

You wouldn't really notice it if you can't compare it with another 3DS.

I can't say if other XL's have the same look, sorry. I guess we'll hear soon some more impressions.

I wonder if the units that people thought had a "yellow tone" simply had power-save on. Using power-save on my 3DS makes the color temperature warmer (yellower). However, when I turn it off, it's a cool temperature.

My friend has a yellowed Zelda 3DS and even with power save off it looked yellow compared to my launch 3DS. It is a screen problem.

I made sure the settings were equal. With the power saving mode on on both devices, the 3DS still looks brighter than my XL.

I remember my DS Lite had a blue-ish hue to the screens; my brother's, on the other hand, had a pink-ish hue. It was only noticeable when on the "home screen", wasn't an issue when playing.

I think you might be overreacting a bit, people.

Nice impressions, thanks.

Glad you like red. I've always wanted red and have my pre-order down for red, but was abit concerned by the lack of red units in the wild and both blue and silver had me second guessing.

You obviously haven't used a modern electronics device with an LCD screen.

LCD panels are getting warmer in colour temperature. Mobile phones and now the 3DS.

It is very noticeable to people who are used to cooler screens.
