3DS XL First Impressions/Previews

my monitor has like 92ppi? and I am as close as I'd be with a handheld, and I can see any pixel.
On the other hand, I think all that retina display hype has gone way to far, so I am probably not the most objectiv critic when it comes to ppi.

That's a fair point, I was thinking that they could increase the ppi without changing the system resolution but any new pixels would have to be driven by something I guess.

The Vita screen is beautiful but I still spend a whole lot more time with my PSP than it so screens aren't everything to me.

Does anyone know why Amazon doesn't have any information about the 3DS XL yet? Gamestop has it for pre-order, but there's nothing on Amazon. Play Asia even has it for pre-order. I'm temped to sent Amazon an e-mail to try to get more information, but I figured I'd see if anyone had any news.

I remember somebody saying before that Amazon won't be carrying the 3DS XL because of so many people returning their originals or something.

Really? That's pretty strange considering Amazon Japan has it and apparently Amazon Canada has it. I was hoping they were just being slow, but it's been a couple of weeks and Amazon U.S. still doesn't have it. Pretty crazy stuff.

This is most likely the case. The anecdote about the mass returns of the original 3DS is true and as a result Amazon US doesn't carry the 3DS either - they're all sold by 3rd parties right now and fulfilled by Amazon, hence the above MSRP prices.

Amazon UK and EU have all 3DS's too, including the XL.
 
This thing is a really similar size to the DSi XL, right? I mean, I have one of these to keep my DSi XL inside, and it's fucking fantastic, so I'd like to get a matching one for my 3DS XL. That'd work, right?
 
Officially pre-ordered a white 3DS LL. Keeping my original aqua blue for RPG's and Ambassador games and everything else will be Japanese:)

What site are you importing through? I'm interested in getting one as well but the new EMS regulations prohibit lithium-ion batteries and I got turned down by a few forwarding companies when I mentioned it'd be a 3DS.

The guy(s) at genkivideogames are getting it for me. Been told to expect it the first (or second) week in August.
 
Hoping for a Special Gold edition around Christmas with NSMB2. (Gold due to all the coin collecting).

What's this? USPS fixed their lithium mistake in short order, I didn't know the stupidity spread to international shipping?
 
God, I miss F-Zero. Especially GX.

Why has Nintendo abandoned F-Zero?

It could be so amazing on the 3DS XL. I would buy the system for just an F-Zero GX port. *sigh*
 
After trying the XL, I literally cannot play my old 3DS anymore.

Its cramped, the screen is TINY in comparison, and the 3D effect is much better to look at on the bigger screen. More immerssive.
 
I emailed the Amazon PR people to ask about the 3DS XL available in a official capacity. Seems no one else wants to.

Why do I need to buy the AC adapter if I want to buy the charging cradle? I thought most people already had the AC adapter, Nintendo?

Yea I bet amazon won't carry the 3dsxl because of the mass returns of the 3ds. Heck I went through 2 of them at launch. Crappy hinge, then major yellow tint on bottom screen. The one I kept has a shitty hinge as well. I kept it though was sick and tired of returning it.

It's €183 at GameMania (without AC adapter) so even if you'd buy the 3DS with adapter there it's still less than at bol.com.

edit: I see the AC adapter + cradle is only €23 at Dixons, so if you buy the 3DS at GameMania and the adapter + cradle at Dixons you have the complete package for €206.
