I traded my 3ds at game today and pre ordered the xl. Got home and realised I forgot to give them the dock kinda wish I kept the charger as well now since they didnt even check it.

Tried one at my local Gamestation, totally sold on it, will get one from amazon, trade the data across then trade in the 3ds for instore credit and get SMB23DS.. and if any left over for luigis mansion 2..

hope there is a CPPXL in the works as a leftie

Damn..... I really want one of these. Especially with my copy of Last Window coming in at the beginning of August and DAT 3DS holiday line-up coming soon. I just need the right trade-in deal to get me fully on board.

now all we need is some GBA games on the eshop

Unclipping the shells means good things for the future of replacement shells... heh heh

But seriously, I hope it isn't a big problem.
Sounds easier than I was hoping, I figured there would be some screws or something. Either way I'm glad it looks like it'll be easy to replace the shell if wanted.
Penny pinching. In Japan, they probably (correctly) figure there is such a large mass of people with the chargers already it won't matter. In Europe I have no idea what they are doing especially with the US getting one. It's kind of baffling and I think consumer complaining is going to quickly force them into including it.
I think someone brought up the plug types before. From what I can tell there's two, Europlug and the other funky one used in a few countries:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europlug
It was designed such that it can safely be used in the domestic power sockets of all European countries, except for the BS 1363 system found in Britain, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Ireland and Malta.
...while Nintendo appears to be shipping one 3DS XL for all of Europe (with monster multi lingual booklet seen in some unboxing videos). Still penny pinching of course, but more on the distribution side of things. If they're going to be pushing them hard anyways (they probably have to to prevent people going home with no way to charge) they might as well do bundles, the system would still be universal while adapters would still be per region.

Haha, yep. This year is proving to be surprisingly expensive.

3DS XL and PS3 SSlim for me too. I've got a baby girl due in November which makes the decision to wait for Wii U a good 6 months or so easier, but I want a Nexus 7 as well now so..

God damn you, technology.

Well congratulations and good luck :) But id hold off on that ps3 ss if you already own one

This year is a 3DS XL and WiiU for me. Might get a Vita if I can squeeze that in too, but I'll probably wait until the revision for that (if there is one)

Anyways, are there any demo units in America yet? I need to see this thing in person...

Might sound like a stupid question but I am wondering if you can get covers for the 3ds XL. I really don't like the blue or red.
Well they are apparently easy to clip off (unintentionally) so maybe people will take advantage of it and make different colored shells. I hope so... I'd love to make myself an all black unit (or all white if it's easy enough)

Yea got back from comic con played with it Day 1. It's light feels good in the hands and the dpad is better. Screens look amazing and the 3d really does pop more.

Should I get a purple 3DS for $120 or a XL for $175?

*If I trade in my DS lite to Gamestop by Sunday then I get $50 off the 3DS, but if I get the XL then I only get $25.

UK? Stores have demo units? Have to find one

Congratulations man. Indeed god damn technology! Next year will be expensive too, new PS4720 consoles and upgrading my phone. :(

So has Nintendo allowed us to transfer eShop game licenses from different DSes without having them both at the same time yet? Want a 3DS XL but would be trading in my 3DS if I did.

Really? Haha. While I'm happy with blue I think it's cool that you could use custom colours in the future.

I feel like saying snap-on colors is the way it should be, but those Xbox plates and cell phone covers kind if say otherwise... guess that trend wasn't meant to be.

Oh god this wait is killing me. I just tried to play Rhythm Thief on my launch 3DS but I had the constant reflection of the Sun burning into my eyes. The best part about the XL will be the less reflective upper screen. I'm holding out till the silver model comes to NA but by then I might be insane.

Oh and as mentioned above, this year will be disgustingly expensive. I'm probably getting a 3DS XL, Wii U, PS3 slim 2.0, a new laptop for school (maybe a Macbook Air), and a new phone (HTC One V). Add on top of that the games I want, school fees, and music lessons, and it makes it impossible. I might have to go handheld only this/next gen and not buy the Wii U/PS3 slim 2.0 (although my PS3 slim is dying).

So it's possible when I trade in my 3DS to transfer my account, savegames and eShop stuff to my 3DS XL right there, right? I will do that in the shop and then give them my old 3DS, that'd be empty then, and then it's done.

Does it work like that?

Not sure, I think you might need an active internet connection whilst you do it, plus the whole thing would take a fair bit of time.

I think you're better off Buying the XL, doing the transfer at home and then selling you're old system through Ebay or Gumtree.com or something. You'll probably get more money back that way too.

You do need an internet connection to do the transfer.

(go to Transferring Software to the Nintendo 3DS - How to Transfer Software From One Nintendo 3DS to Another Nintendo 3DS)

I haven't done a transfer myself, but I hear it does take a very long time.

It's possible the store might let you use their wifi and the system for a long time, or your phone's hotspot, but that seems kind of unlikely.

Anyway, I really want an XL, but I'm not very excited by the colors. I think I'm going to end up waiting until we get colors a little less cheap-ey

Yeah that sounds like a more solid plan. I asked an EB Games (Gamestop under a different name) manager who used to work with me and she was saying that they wouldn't allow me to. I think it depends on the location but unless you have the ability to make a mobile hotspot and a very patient GS/EB Games employee I wouldn't count on them letting you.

Man, this is the hardest wait for awhile. I haven't bought a DS since the original which was stolen from my apartment in college. I have so much catching up to do and all these videos are making me go crazy.

I'll be going with red, I think. I want to honor my phat.

Have't seen this posted: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/...hould-you-upgrade-to-the-larger-handheld.html

Its actually one of the better reviews and seems to understand who the system is aimed for.
Good read and seems to be the general idea we've been hearing about the system.

After reading that, I don't know who to believe anymore in terms of the image quality. They seem to be very critical about it, while other reviews have mentioned the quality is very near what we get with the original 3DS.

Also, a "smaller sweet-spot" for 3D? Sigh.

Played through the forest temple of OOT on a 3DS XL earlier, courtesy of my mate who manages a GAME store.

Its absolutely superb. And to DS original fans, the D-Pad feels like the DSi XL's, and is great to use. Circle pad felt great too. There's a slight sparkly sheen to the inner black colour, but its matte and feels great to the touch.

Any questions?
