Nope. It's like the DSi XL.
I've only used the Silver one.
Nice. You've made my day.
Thanks

Do we have any vids of the XL playing GBA games? I'm sill debating wether to transfer the ambassador stuff to the XL, or just keep it on the normal 3DS. All depends on picture quality really.

1:1 mode for GBA will be almost the exact same size as a GBA / SP screen, going by PPI.Do we have any vids of the XL playing GBA games? I'm sill debating wether to transfer the ambassador stuff to the XL, or just keep it on the normal 3DS. All depends on picture quality really.
- The added size makes it impossible to play Kid Icarus comfortably. My hand ached like hell afterwards![]()

Very good read. Thanks for posting.
My biggest question, no one has seemed to answer: aside from added lock positioning, is the hinge floppy/wiggly when locked? Or is it stiff/sturdy? A big gripe with the 3DS current, is even when locked, you feel it shifting during gameplay....
"The tiniest bit" is a bit strong, but I honestly didn't experience a wider sweet spot. I had a play on one today. Mario Kart is fucking amazing on this thing.Has anyone confirmed if the XL's 3D sweet spot is really wider, or does it still lose focus if shifted the tiniest bit?
As others have said, the 3DS XL's hinge does not flop or wiggle when locked

actually this IS the one difference - it is -at best- as good as the 3DS but i felt that it was narrower![]()
the idea people are saying it has a wider sweet spot? I'd say that's bullshit on the 3 times i tried it. Best case it's the same as it is now.
why can't I order this on Amazon. I don't like going to the store
So here's a thought.
The nintendo 3ds released a while back, but for whatever reason, the general population wasn't particularly enamoured with it, a combination of a lot of factors, but price was a big one. I know I didn't get one due to timing in my life, hardware design, and price.
We also know, traditionally, Nintendo profits from hardware sales. However, as a reaction to slow sales, nintendo did the untraditional and announced a price drop pretty soon after launch. It worked and the 3ds had a turn around.
Now I don't know if they simply lowered profit margins, broke even, or sold them at a loss, but with the new 3ds xl coming at a lower price than the original 3ds, do you think they are still operatic at a loss or low profit? Or have they 'cheapened' the manufacturing (either component quality or standard drop in price as they get older and better production), and once again profiting on hardware?
Interesting thanks. They are making a profit on them.

A side note, anyone know of or heard any rumors of upcoming bundles? I don't have a current 3ds so will need a few games to go along with the system.
I'm not sure why people think the sweet spot will change. They made the device bigger, they didn't adjust how your eyes function. The 3D may be more pronounced now due to the larger screens, but they can't alter the sweet spot in which your eyes can separate the images.
So what colors will be available at the US launch?
Just blue, red and silver?
Blue and red, no silver.
I think the silver is ugly, so no big loss there, but it's a missed opportunity to not offer Red, White, and Blue. In America.
Interesting thanks.
So if the original 3ds is at a loss, and the new xl is at profit, I wonder if the 3dsxl is of cheaper quality or the price refelects the usual reduction in component costs over time, or no longer factoring in R&D or what.
In nz, we've been given an indication that 3dsxl may be similar price as 3DS. Not sure if it's a special, a guess or what.
Pretty sure I'm going to have to bite on a blue 3DS XL at launch. I'd rather have a white or silver one, but hey, what can you do. Blue is actually my favorite color, it's just that this particular hue looks a little too... Fisher Price-y to me with that finish.
I hope Amazon ends up coming through in time for launch, so I don't have to pay tax. If not, Newegg will have to suffice. Certainly not bothering with a brick-and-mortar store, though.
Have you seen pictures of the blue in normal photos? I think it looks nice.

The 3DS XL seems to be an upgrade in almost every way. I'd definitely buy one if I had extra money. As it stands, my original 3DS serves its function sufficiently. The sturdy screen, rounder form factor, and actual Home buttons remain very attractive, though.
I played Kid Icarus with a regular 3ds and got hand cramps all the time

Waiting out for a special edition.
I can wait til about early December, but then I hope I will be traveling all over the country, so I'll definitely want one by then. I just don't know if I can bring myself to buy those horrendous colors.

ugh...
I could probably live with the silver one.. but it reminds me of my terrible laptop from the early 2000s. Boring.. dull.. bleh.
