I wish they did more with Batman/Gordon relationship. I agree with sculli that they shouldn't have even bothered with the blake dude. Use that time to make the separation between Bruce and Gordon that much more sad, have a scene where they partner up together for one last time. Although I suppose it wouldn't be surprising if they hung out afterwards since the world doesn't know Batman = Bruce anyway. But it's kind of alluded that Bruce would sever ties with everything from his old life except Selena.

That was because his left hand in real life is actually paralysed, and they kept that in.

Oh wow didn't know that.

i wish we could have seen more dismantling of bane's mask. i would have loved to have seen his face underneath. It would have been a great "shock" moment.

Another good one i dont see mentioned that is somewhat thematically relevant (batman AWOL/death) is Whatever happened to the caped crusader by neil gaiman.

I'm seriously pissed off, that the sound quality of the theater i watched this in, was fucking balls. It really hurt my first watch of the film. The bloody bootlegs you guys are linking, sound better. *cry*

Going to go rewatch it as soon as i can, at a good cinema.

I guess I'm not that mad that my theatre charges $16 for liemax.

Bane's voice is fucking awful. That's the reason he over-compensated and destroyed that pillar. Well, that and his height.

After watching in a regular theater and a Dome IMAX, it's strange, I'd say for the visual look between the 2, I liked the regular theater better (Dome just wasn't great. At times it was, but if the camera's moving around alot, it's disorientating.) But IMAX Sounds insanely >>>>>>> than the regular theater.

THEATRICALITY AND DECEPTION ARE POWERFUL AGENTS FOR THE UNINITIATED. BUT WE ARE INITIATED, AREN'T WE BRUCE?

Can someone explain to me exactly why bane needed the mask? I missed the explanation and all I remember is that he got badly wounded after being beaten by the inmates and that doesn't really explain the mask to me.

They had a doctor (likely the doctor that motivated Bruce to climb out of the pit) do things to him as punishment. That's why his face was wrapped in bloody bandages when the League of Shadows took over the prison.

Overall, I thought it was good, but not as great as The Dark Knight. Hardy played Bane well, but the overall plot didn't have as much soul as The Dark Knight's. It really just boiled down to a revenge plot marked by the generic concept of blowing up a city. The Joker's "plan" was really nothing more than to instill terror, but that's the greatness of his character. You don't know who he is, what his motivations are, or anything about him at all. Mystery and insanity are what sum up his character. Bane and Talia were motivated by relatively generic concepts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Ra's plan was just to unleash anarchy on Gotham and let it destroy itself correct? Then why was Talia's plan to do that, and then blow it up? Was that really necessary? Was that the vision of her father? I really didn't like the Talia element of the film. I think she was poorly cast, and poorly executed as a character.

While I think I would have liked if they actually said Blake's name was "Dick Grayson" and not Robin, I understand why they did. Mainstream audiences don't know who Dick Grayson is. It also eliminates all the questions about his childhood, like was he a circus performer, were his parents murdered, all that stuff. It makes this "Robin" his own character, belonging to this trilogy of movies.

And while I didn't really dislike Catwoman, I thought her character was little other than the stereotypical sarcastic female anti-hero. I really would have liked to see more of a conflicting romance between either Catwoman and Batman, or Talia and Batman. Like they know they're enemies, but they can't stop themselves. Akin to that of the comics. That kind of thing.

Like I said, overall I thought it was good, but not great. The Dark Knight stands as the highlight of the trilogy for me.

Are you sneaking around in there, Charles? Whatever are you looking for?
Hope.
I will bring you hope, old friend. And I ask only one thing in return - don't get in my way. We are the future Charles, not them.

What a boss movie.

Bane's voice was all the place. It was seriously awful in parts, like the beginning on the plane, while at times it worked. It felt like they couldn't figure out how they wanted the voice to sound and kept fiddling with it, as well as altering it so that people can actually understand him.

WTF why bring up x-men? You are such a Singer fanboy lol

anyway the whole prison hole was dumb

at first its like, cool, a mythical backstory to the character that makes him larger than life. but no, they have to bring up him being the mercenary's kid and that mercenary was Ras!!

wow, ok, fine, way to ruin the cool story but whatever. but then they have to go ahead and show scenes of the kid climbing. hmmm. and then, fuck it, pointless plot twist and the kid is actually a she!

but I guess I should have realized subtlety is not his greatest strength several movies ago

7 months and his body is totally wasted. Being a superhero is rough.

Realism!

I got the impression he had been keeping active for at least a while after TDK ended... They do mention the last confirmed sighting was 7 years ago, but that doesn't mean he wasn't out there just taking care of loose ends. That's the only way him being so beaten down makes any sense to me.

Watched it earlier. It was damn good. Romance stuff felt pretty rushed and the "Robin" bit was just terrible but other then that it was excellent. All three films are of very consistent high quality. Can't wait until the blu-ray release.

The film is so much more cohesive on rewatch. Bruce's time in the pit is just the greatest. The third time he goes for, it is just so much, fuck, HE EARNED THIS. Fuck how he got back to Gotham, he earned it.

FEEL THE FIRE, BANE

Yeah, you're no longer trying to figure out the plot and can pay attention to the performances and details. Bane was more impressive the second time around.

That Begins pic reminds me of what was missing from the finale of TDKR

Personal Ninja guards for Talia. Get some Katana on Batman action up in that final confrontation!

Bruce should have had his cowl ripped off and then he would have looked like he was in his LoS garb. Then they could have themselves a knife fight! Ninja Bruce is best bruce.

They say at one point that basically he disappeared after killing Dent, so he probably hasn't been seen since.

Agreed on the second watch being much more coherent since you're not spending time wondering what just happened but focusing on what is actually currently happening. Also fucking LIEMAX not screwing up the audio mix helped a ton too.

I don't understand your complaint.

Anyway, I saw again today and I enjoyed MUCH more this time around. I'm not sure if it was the IMAX, but I was much more emotionally invested on this watch. I completely forgot most of my criticisms, I was just so caught up in the experience - everything worked so well. I'm starting to come around to Bane's voice as well. While it still gets some urkes out of me, I understand now that they're trying to show off his charisma and arrogance, as well as his sinister attitude.

Also, Solo, I feel like you're being too hard on the score. I do think that it's the most reserved of the trilogy, I do believe it's also the most emotional. Sure they reuse a number of themes and tunes from previous songs, and that it's not as experimental as TDK, but they made it so to make it more impactful and have catharsis.

Seriously, Why Do We Fall is the best track of the movie and it made that escape scene all the more amazing.
