I won't be surprised that a authoritative government like China would do that, but I doubt they (or anyone else) have the necessary technology to screen millions of kids. However the suggestion was she might have "genetic manipulation" that hopefully it can be detected in this 8 years. This sounds completely BS as it can apply to anyone.

Because this is China we're talking about here. Their meddling with the records to push one of their female gymnasts into the 2008 Olympics is the one thing (as well as the opening ceremony stuff) that springs to mind (even if they were cleared of wrongdoing - other people heavily doubt the IOC's decision on that matter). That alone makes me distrust them even if it is just a small amount.
