Damn, Shin was looking like she had this early in the match. If she took home a medal after all the drama, she would have been a hero of the olympics.

To be able to compose herself after all that to put on such a fight is a hell of a thing as it is.

Lol @ the assholes saying someone's a bad sport for appealing a decision and not leaving the ring until they're sure they lost (as the rules demand).

Wow. Grats to Sun, girl had the crowd against her much of the time but she did well.
As for Shin... Wow. Just wow. I hope she's a goddamn national hero, that was so tragic and she is such a fighter for going out there to fight again.

Just got back from lunch. I read that the korean fencer refused to leave? That's heart right there.

Any thing else major I missed?

Grumble, I'm not even enthused for the gold medal match now. And I was even hoping for a medal for Germany.

The karmic sporting balance has been disrupted this day of fencing. -.-

That isn't why she's a bad sport. As I said earlier she turned her back on the officials and acted like a baby. That makes her a poor sport.

Yeah the decision is iffy but she just has to deal with it. No need to disrespect others.

Someone from her team raised her hand to tell her to wait. That's why she turned back. She was waiting for one of her coaches to tell her to leave. When they made a sign calling for her to come, she left immediately.

I would bet strongly she didnt even know what they were saying talking to her in french

She turned away from the official trying to get her to leave when her coaches were telling her to stay. That's not poor sportsmanship.

Go Ukraine! (Better colors)

So much drama today, the Olympics wouldn't be the Olympics without drama. After this I hope they change some of the fencing rules, because they're stupid and they should use a better clock if time is so important. But I know they won't do anything because tradition bullshit.

How about, learning to see the difference with being humiliated, crying and heartbroken and being "bad sport"/ disrespecting others...

However, if its true, that she did get a yellow card, bla bla. Then, it at-least feels a bit better.

The British athletes should want to grind their opponent's bones to dust, not follow in their trail and hope they get to feed off the scraps. Our ancestors were complete lunatics that nearly conquered the world through force, not some meek little mice. If there was a time when we should summon that imperialistic "stamp on your rival's neck" attitude that built the Empire then now would be it.

I'm being overdramatic and don't pine for the days of old, just that warlike attitude that we can attach to sport.

Perhaps they are like that, but they've been briefed to be gracious in defeat rather than complainy. Some might read that as being journeymen but I think it's unfair to make those judgements based on a quick interview soundbite

The way she dealt with it in its entirety was not exactly sportsmanship (in my opinion). Let's not forget she (initially) refused to leave even after their appeal (after they checked it again) was dismissed.

My problem isn't with not accepting the intial decision, my problem is with appealing again after they checked it and not wanting to leave after their appeal was dismissed.

She left as soon as someone from her team told her to, and no earlier. I sure as hell wouldn't leave before someone I trust 100% confirms I really lost.
