Wow, the lore behind Type-0 sounds intriguing as hell.

Type 0 lore is big. It might be Tactics and XI big. Yeah. THAT BIG.

Oh god, if this is not a full sequel like XIII-2 I might cry.
This just makes this Lightning shit even more depressing.
SE, giving you everything but what you want.
I think you need more lore. Me and a group are having a translation project of our own. Type 0 lore is big. It might be Tactics and XI big. Yeah. THAT BIG.
That's cause... it is.

Don't worry, they'll have DLC planned to make sure it's a full FFXIII experience.
I read on wiki that (endgame spoilers to FF-0), is that true? I'm so mad right now, this type of ending as always my favorite, Summoner from THQ had the same ending, Planescape:Torment had the same "flavor" of ending.Machina founded a new empire with Rem
Hope it will come out in the West eventually.

If it's a full experience you would think they wouldn't cut corners like that.
I remember when games were $50 dollars not $80+.
And when expansions were free as a thank you for buying a company's product. Such is not the case anymore.
I kinda equate the Unseen realm to the Interdimensional Rift honestly. Makes the most sense to me.
The only FNC mythos I will accept is the one written by Nojima himself, perpetrators can step off.
I remember arena's and secret bosses were in the game day one.
I remember when you could unlock costumes by meeting gameplay requirements.
I remember when secret endings actually changed something.

Though,as has been stated many times, Type-0 seems to be good as well in the lore department.
Well now you get to buy cut content, buy costumes, and get ambiguous text as a secret ending. Eat up.
Yeah, I can't wait for Versus for this reason alone. Though,as has been stated many times, Type-0 seems to be good as well in the lore department.
They're all pretty good in the lore department.

I hope Versus is good. The only thing that worries me is the whole "It looks amazing" Wada or whoever mentioned it.
To me, it "looking" amazing does not mean it is amazing. Those are 2 completely different things.
And the PR department isn't anything to talk about either.
All we've gotten is basically "The buildings look nice".
To which I respond with "Thank you for the insight" in a sarcastic manner.
In the lore department. Certainly not with overall execution. Let's be honest here. XIII and XIII-2 use the datalog like FF's version of Livejournal.
Can't wait for the FF version of Tumblr. It's gonna kick ass. And tell you even less in the story and just tell you to research it on your own.
Magius, where are you and your group keeping all this stuff? I want to have a look!
I only got about 70% of the library entries; does a second playthrough fill them all in?
And do you have the "Aka no Sho" (朱の書deluxe fan book that came out a few months after the game did? That thing is chock-full of info; it's better than the Ultimania for world lore. Well worth its high price!
I'm fine with the datalog. Mass Effect did the same thing, and I enjoyed it. All the races, history of the worlds, the technology, was all through the datalog in Mass Effect. I thought it was even better in XIII-2, getting into some of the details I was wondering about like how Serah and Noel used magic, some of the technology, and some history of the various areas. The 160 paradox entries all added a bit.
The point is XIII has terms it doesn't feel it needs to explain, while Type 0 actually takes time to. And not say "Hey you! Ignorant punk! Read that datalog or else you won't know nothing!"
And I vastly enjoy Type 0's atmosphere and story and everything a crapton better then XIII. I especially like the characters which XIII really failed for me to do. I only really liked Sazh and that was it.
Nah, in ME you did not need to read the Codex to understand what was going on, or even get background information.
In Mass Effect, you could ask for additional information through dialogue with NPCs, not too mention that it's story was presented in a way that you could not look at the codex for the entire game and still understand everything that was happening and why.
At least in ME1.
Then again, it's been a while since I have had the "pleasure" of playing XIII so maybe I would understand it better now.
I guess. The whole history of Mass Effect was in the datalog. The First Contact War, Mass Effect technology, the history of the Citadel and the repair insects, the infinite ammo gun technology, the shield tech, the technology for the biotic abilities, the history of the counsel in the citadel and the political arrangement between the 3 main races. They did have that hologram girl in the citadel, but she's practically the same as a datalog, just a different interface. It's more immersive, sure, but it's basically the same thing - and she didn't have all the info.
I get that some people didn't like it, but it wasn't an issue for me at all, and I think people exaggerate the negative impact of the datalog just because it's FF.

Well yeah, every FF managed just fine without a datalog and all of a sudden it's necessary here?
That ain't progress.
With FFXIII I got the impression that SE assumed that everyone playing the game had also been paying full attention to their multi-year pre-game hype machine and had thus picked up all that terminology when reading the previews in magazines like Famitsu and Dengeki Playstation.
When those people finally got the game after all those years of waiting, they hit the ground running. Anybody who came in without any knowledge, or who avoided reading too much so as to stay unspoiled, was really stuck.
There's a reason I named my dog エース (Ace).

I still wish the last chapter, though. What an unexpected turn of events.had never happened
I hate the combat and the characters in FFXIII and if nothing was ever done with them again SE would be a much better company. Move on to that agni prophecy or whatever, at least its something new.
I'm okay with this.Vita game? I'm calling it.
Last chapter was pretty great. To be honest I kinda wish half the game was the war story and the other half was the last chapter. As in a bunch of stuff you needed to accomplish to overcome what is known asFinis, which is Type 0's take on Norse mythologies Ragnarok, and that distorted voice was awesome. Which says "WE ARE UPON YOU" as in the Prophecy. Raining blood and everything.
I've never really liked the whole Stagger system to begin with.

Yeah, I felt it artificially lengthened the battles, because you could only do decent damage when something was staggered.
I don't know, just felt gimmicky to me.
The whole game was great.
The final boss was the hardest I ever faced. XD
The game was fantastic its a shame that it hasn't come to the west yet.
