Wow this thread is still going :O

Stage 4 : RE Ranking thread
So as a person that will probably never play this game, you people like COOP in a RE game?
But Dead Space isn't even better than RE5, much less RE4.
This game is horrible. What a downfall the RE series is taking. I enjoyed Silent Hill Downpour more than this game so far.
Are you calling me a pig?In a pig's eye.
Clearly Capcom should outsource to Vatra:

How about in terms of playing a game that is a lot better.
walk backwards and mash the trigger until the loud noises stop: the game
The current state of the RE series has brought out the worst in us.Resident Evil games have never been scary unless you are a physical or mental child or a peasant from the 13th century - in the latter case, you're probably more terrified of the magical box than the animated images of revenants upon it.
I just can't believe they've let the game out of the of the door in this state only to get smashed by critics. I guess it's a scenario similar to FFXIII where they will admit later on that they started to playtest and QA the game late in the dev cycle and it was to late to improve the game according to feedbacks received.
This thread loves melodramatic meltdowns and conspirational theories about bad reviews scores but the fact remains that outside of the probably exaggerated 3 and 4, the game still received many 5,6 and 7.
I doubt this is what Capcom wanted for a project they had 600 people working on and that was the latest release in one of their flagship series.

C'mon mang..that's the subjective and the same crap you're mocking in the second part of your post. Newsflash: Some people don't think RE4 is that good. Your opinion is no more important than their's.
Oh please..do not start this shit. I can reduce RE4 to even less than that if you really want.

Yes, Dead Space is also a lot better than Resident Evil 0.

I like it a lot more than RE4, too. Sue me.

This is bizarre. You talk RE4 down but Dead Space is perfectly fine? What.I like it a lot more than RE4, too. Sue me.

Ada's a good example. It wasn't made clear for several years that she betrayed Wesker in BH4, and it wasn't clear who she was working for either. Many assumed that it was the rival company of Umbrella she and Wesker were working for in BH2, and believed that Wesker had betrayed them so they requested that she betray Wesker.
In actuality, while she works for the rival company during the game, she's also a double-agent for an organization led by Wesker but she is ultimately loyal to another unknown organization. She betrays the rival company and Wesker for the unknown organization. The reason there was no knowledge of Wesker having his own secret organization before is because the only reference to it is missing from the localization of BH4. Specifically this line:
Similarly, Ada also outright states that she is not evil in the original text, which is why Leon doesn't get a little more worried that she has something that could completely obliterate the world. In the English script, this became "Don't worry, I'll take goooood care of it" which would imply that she is evil more than anything.
There was also confusion as to where Wesker got the dominant species Plaga (mistranslated as "master" and "control" in RE4 and RE5 respectively, not helping the confusion) that TRICELL have in 5, since that's what Ada was sent to get and supposed to have not given Wesker at the end of 4. In reality, Wesker obtained a dead dominant Plaga from the corpse of Jack Krauser, but this is literally mentioned nowhere except for in the Archives II book.
In the "Las Plagas: Organisms of War" featurette in Damnation, it's revealed that she works for an unknown group but is also an independent contractor, and it's revealed in BH6 that shescrews over her handlers that contract her if she doesn't like what they're going to do, and gives what they wanted to her own organization for some unknown purpose.
There's also a file in Lost In Nightmares that states that she still works for Wesker in English despite having betrayed him two years before, but the original text makes it clear that she has only dealt with him in the past.
Still not strictly new info or revelations on her, but it maps out her actions a lot better, but doesn't help make it any less convoluted.
This is bizarre. You talk RE4 down but Dead Space is perfectly fine? What.

The sad part was, I don't know of ANY review addressing the broken aiming back then.
But sorry, this is so off topic![]()
I'm not bothered by your tastes. It's just that opinion seems a bit... contradictory.Look, I'm really, really sorry that my personal tastes don't fall in line with yours and tetsuo's and whoever else's. I'd change my opinions if I could, to make you happy. Honest!

No. Have you read the rest of Muffdraul's posts?Liking DS over RE4 is contradictory? I'm a walking, talking contradiction then.

If we don't stand up for RE4, can we really, in good conscience, stand for anything?
It's a masterpiece of game design.

All I see is that he enjoys DS over 0 and 4. What exactly is the issue? Where is he contradicting himself?
Posts like this.Survival Horror ain't what it used to be, and we can thank RE4 for that. Dead Space 1 AND 2 are about as close as we're going to get in these days. Dead Space 2 does have a lot of action ... compared to early RE and Silent Hill. It's actually keeps to a pretty measured and deliberate pace and it does have a fair bit of exploration and puzzle solving, relatively speaking. It's not all monsters all the time. I've never bought into the "too much ammo and healing items" argument, because Silent Hill was always guilty of that yet nobody ever claimed it wasn't survival horror because of it.
It's not hyperbole, but you seem intent on dismissing the game as dated so hey.Gahhhh the hyperbole for 4 is so mindboggling.
RE0 is much better than RE4. RE4 is easy and linear. How about in terms of playing a game that is a lot better.
Wait, what exactly is going on in this thread?
I don't believe 600 people worked on this turd
So it's the Metroid Other M of 2012?

If you haven't already, you can get another Capcom game in its place, Dragon's Dogma!
It's pretty good.
Yeah flash bang/headshot => roundhouse is pretty damn deep.

You seriously can't comprehend how someone could prefer a game that takes place out in deep space on a dark derelict claustrophobic space ship, over one that takes place in a Spanish village in broad daylight, in a big castle, etc? Really?
But how is it the closest thing to old "survival horror" if it's influenced by RE4 which according to you, changed "survival horror" entirely? It would be stupid to deny that RE4 was a major influence on Dead Space. But I like Dead Space more. So?
You said it wasn't as good as those other two games because it was "dated", and then when I asked you how it was dated you told me I'd have to play the other games before RE4, which isn't an answer. That seems like dismissal to me.Where did I dismiss 4? I stated multiple times it's a very good game. Thinking other games are better than it is dismissing it? Is contradictory? C'mon mang, you're tipping into that crazty territory, same as hyperbole territory.
You know, it's when people say shit like this that I really question their sanity.
