I'm a bigger fan of CF too. The new opening is still pretty good, but I have a fondness for CF.

There are at last check 11 volumes of the LN, and weve covered 2 so far. They would have to do multiple seasons to cover more. The LN is still going on.

Yui enters the picture and when they get unbelievably raburabu with each other around the time they suddenly get married. They've seriously started hanging with each other (on a pretty platonic level, too!) what, two months ago? And then Asuna is talking about getting married and getting old together outside. WTF.
I can get behind their relationship, but holy bollocks at the way it escalated uncontrollably, it ruined it for me.
The thing is I could never truly accept how their relationship started out. If I had to justify it, it would be that they are young, they were stuck in a death game and it sorted of helped promote the acceleration for the pursuit of acceptance and company, and Kirito being... well Kirito.
Despite the foundation of their relationship I always found what happened afterwards to be really sweet. It's nice.

Just finished watching episode 15. Completely love the new opening and ending themes (even though I'm a fan of LiSA). Can't wait to see where the series goes from here during its last ten eps!

It most definitely IS a marriage. Just not in the traditional sense, where the girl usually leaves her own family register to enter her husband's. Here, it's the reverse, which isn't that unusual for big families with no male heirs.

You know if the creepy ass cousin incest wasn't so god damned in your face the whole time, episode 15 would've been really decent. Seeing Kirito try to adapt back into the real world could've been explored a lot more.
Also I find it hilarious that in the entire premise of this anime, someone is criticizing the fact that two teenage characters with no romantic experience fall in love with each other playing an online game together. For all they knew any given day could've been their last day being alive, I don't see what's so far-fetched about them developing feelings for one another in a short period of time. It was more about symbolism than anything, it's not like they could've had real kids, which is why the Yui arc was important for them since it was the closest thing they had to a daughter.
Not saying it's great writing but god damn, if that's what bugged you about this anime the most why would you continue to watch it.
There's a defense force for everything here on GAF, you can bet your ass that people would still play games using deadly headsets.
So I gave this a watch on Crunchyroll. It was solidly above average, and got big props from me for actually having the leads hook up mid season instead of bullshitting around for ever. Then the most recent episodes cratered the show into typical animu harem tropes and crazy illogical story telling. WTF happened?? I was all ready to heavily recommend the show, thinking that they had the balls to end the "it's in a game" hook and have the rest of the show take place in the real world dealing with the aftermath of the incident and the leads finding each other. But noooo, it's harem incest bullshit and a NEW fantasy MMO that they're stuck in.
Someone who's read the novels please tell me if this is a one off moment of insanity or not.

Not only is it not a one-off. There's a third game after the fairy game. It's about guns.
Ugh, does the incest plot continue to? Please tell me that in the process of trying to find Asuka he doesn't attract a harem of women. Please.
And then there's another "game" after that.
And yes, up until Aliciazation (4th arc), basically every major protagonist character is female, and they all fall in love with Kirito (at least for a time). Granted, there's no others in Fairy Dance, and only 1 more in Phantom Bullet, and to its credit, it never actually devolves into your standard harem because they basically come to terms once they know about Kirito and Asuna, but it's one of the more obnoxious aspects of the series.

People were forced to roleplay to the extreme .. that why they showed us many ways to live within SAO...Silica managed to keep up with her dragon , some other went full PK , other openned shop , some married , and some went to fish ..In those conditions falling in love is nothing uncommon.

The other games devellopped on SAO technology doesn't fry your brain when you dies ..there is even a logout button. It's the cool thing with the garrantee of no dangers .. why would other people hesitate ?

Then again, maybe this kind of story worked for the intended target audience. Despite its stupidity I do enjoy the show for what it is. It's not something I'd recommend for any people searching any semblance of good story, but hey, it's entertaining. Definitely continuing with adjusted expectations right now.

You have 6000 ish people trying to complete the game for two years, then the two best players decided just to get married, settle down, fuck each others. No other explanation why they stopped, just because they are so in love with each other so screw other people on life support. The very worst part is their virtual daughter which seemingly had no use in story other than to emphasis that Kirito and Asuna loved each other so much omg it's sweet.
The end game was stupid, with the whole you can not die if you wished hard enough thing. And Kirito leaving his sickbed just to find Asuna? What about his family?

Again I thought Kirito had problems in his home that made him a great MMO player. But no! He's adopted, but his mother loved him, his sister loved him so much she clenched fist when Kirito says another girl's name, even the father of the love of his life seemed okay with him!
Asuna's fiance will be much, much, much more interesting if he's not described as a disgustingly despicable man. Nobody liked him and it makes the story much more predictable. What if her fiancee was just this good guy with a good social status and nothing particularly wrong, just that he was already betrothed to her? That would make Asuna and Kirito's future choice more interesting.

Well I guess the writer saw that and decided to do a story where the main character just isnt this epic beater. Perhaps you should look into Accel World?
And on SAO
it isnt Kirito is "that" good, how many times did he over the 15 episodes come just right so close to dying? I was more shocked that he didnt wipe the floor with Heathcliff that final time and that it had to be a "draw"

It is, but Aniplex is weird.
I would be surprised if we didn't get a dub eventually, but I'd also be surprised if Aniplex didn't release the Japanese blu-rays in the USA prior, assuming they have English subtitles.

yes, he's just a normal high school kid who's very good at playing video games. It doesn't make him the most interesting character ever, but I don't see it as being a particularly big flaw either. You almost sound like you believe that a reasonably normal person can't be the best player in a game.

I have to disagree with you completely here. Being stuck in a virtual world with real death for two years, with no end in sight, is something that will exert a tremendous amount of psychological pressure on the players. To expect 16 year old kids to shoulder the burden of being at the front lines with the highest risk is already asking a lot. To expect them to continue doing so after a near-death encounter (Kuradeel) while acting like nothing has changed is downright asinine.

this is the weakest part of the SAO saga by far, and yes, there's more than a little bit of love-overcomes-all deus ex machina going on. That said, your complaints about Kirito searching for Asuna seems strange. In their final moments in Aincrad, he and Asuna thought they were both going to die and accepted it. Then he finds himself alive in the real world. Is it that strange that his first thought at that point would be whether she was as well?
Did I sound like that? I'm just a bit disappointed he's not the character I thought he was. Of course a perfectly normal person can be the best player in the game, but I find a character like this not interesting at all. Like I said, this might work for the main audience. Not a big deal.
Then perhaps it's a matter of storytelling instead of the story itself. It's certainly what I felt when watching. Kirito doesn't look like he's hesitating in continuing the game before his last near death experience. Maybe I'm missing a few details?
I can't connect with his decision at all at this moment. This is when I think the writer tried too hard to show that he loves her. I think nothing is lost in his character if he woke up, trying to find the people nearest to him and asking what happened to all SAO players, including Asuna. Or maybe that's what he's trying to do? I might need a rewatch on this part.
1.) He is hesitant. If you watched episode 13, he doesn't even want to go back at all. If he could he'd live in the status quo with Asuna.
2.) It's a moment of shock and the first thing that pops into his mind is what was most important to him. I don't think it's uncommon imo.

This arc is much better than Sword Art Online already. ALfhiem Online and its flight engine and even that combat engine, I wouldnt mind playing it for real. I also like Kirito's design.

I liked how he was able to inherit his skills, though not his items. However, he keeps his sword moves? but I thought the dude in the shop said there are no sword skills in this game, yet everyones using swords, rapiers, and spears?
But really not having the perma death around and all of that really makes this feel much better and good. I dont think its necessary for good drama as just having him fighting to free a loss companion is there.

Just saw all the episodes over the past three days and I really like it! I don't really mind the deus ex machinas or some of the cliches, but maybe that's because I want to believe love can be real and strong that quickly. :S

I liked this one for the same reason I really enjoyed the first: it sort of scratches the MMO itch that I fight with when I get to watch the characters get a first taste of the world and better acquaint themselves with it. I hope the more lighthearted atmosphere is retained as the seriousness of the SAO "death game" was getting overbearing.
