Yeah the media is pretty terrible with the false equivalencies.

Half of the coverage on whether "acts of terror" means "terrorism" and repeating Fox News talking points only slightly less stupid than the birth certificate scandal, about Obama apparently secretly knowing it was terrorism, calling it "acts of terror", and then trying to hide that it was terrorism forever by saying they were still investigating.

The other half of the coverage giving a balanced approach to what in reality are Romney's lies. So, Romney's tax plan. Some people believe the numbers don't add up. Romney's comments on the 47%. Doesn't sound good for him, but now he says he cares about 100%.

See, fair and balanced.

GAF! I too am tired of the false equivalence from the strawmen distortion bias-machines! Lies and untruths I say! Harumph! Forward not Backward! Upward Not Forward! Twirl, dammit! TWIRL!

I have to say, I think Romney's constant demands for more time and for the last word on every topic make him look...what's the word?

Entitled.

In slightly longer sentences yes, he specifically made the point about letting women off work early to go home and make dinner and take care of the kids

I think he almost gagged when Obama said the women are increasingly becoming the breadwinners in the home...

edit: For example, it was probably a pretty tiny sample size and not necessarily a significant result by any means, as Zero-Crescent notes. But it's fun to read tea leaves.

I read through the report again, and it looks like the total sample size was 438 people, so the C-Span audience (1%) was only around 4 people.

What are people on about when saying Obama didn't lay out a plan? I thought it was FAR more specific than Romney's loose points. Even the guy in CNNs focus group agreed. On energy, on economy, on deficit etc. Obama was far more specific, with Romney continually dodging them. I feel like I'm being trolled watching this crap at times.

I do feel like Romney got screwed over a bit there, he got screwed out of making a couple of comments and Obama was allowed to run over a few times

This is incredible about CNN's polling, how is it fucking possible for Obama to "win" the debate by 7 percent when he's apparently been slaughtered in EVERY SINGLE SUBCATEGORY?

And they KEEP talking about it on CNN! I mean, Obama lost in EVERY subsection they've shown but miraculously got the overall poll? HOW? HOWWWWWW? Can somebody answer how the hell Obama won the pie when there weren't enough pieces to make it whole? They're trying too hard

That's exactly it. What reality are these idiots operating in? He's repeatedly laid out his plans now, does he need to give them a number like Romney too?

Feel free to disabuse us of false notions. I'll be first in line for the paddle if there is something I missed.

I'm a little buzzed, and jazzed from the Biden Obama one-two punch, but thats only because I feel I'm on solid footing. I called out Obama in the first debate, and ove the past week I have seen two beheadings on worldwide TV. Please tell me how I am mistaken.

Please procede, Duffy.
Flawless. Carry on.

He believes slashing taxes will make employers hire that many people.

Another nonsensequivalence from another strawman I see! Harumph! They will only use those breaks in their taxes to buy more boats! And we know Chinese robots build and sell those! Then they're going to burn their boats to contribute to the greenhouse effect to try and drown the poor! Then it will be easy for them to finish their war on women! What a bunch of assholes!

Same. I'm open minded if you give me something to be open minded about.

I believe the position is essentially remove all regulation, reduce taxes to create some sort of hot rod economy.

Premise being that you overcome deficits not by cutting spending but increasing revenue - and with high taxes off the table, you get a lower percent of a bigger pie.

Kinda like you get a much higher paying job, but add no bills, suddenly pretty easy to balance budgets.

While I think Romney and current GOP take this concept too far, I do believe that austerity type measures aren't the right answer.

Something like Obama has done actually isn't all that far off IMO, we are just on the early edge.

Really hard to say on the economy and by extension the deficit that comes by reduced revenue...the starting point if we remember was fear that we were end of times, complete global economic collapse, potential for collapse of currency. This followed by all the issues
in the EU and even china economic slowing.

With these external factors and given the starting point after banking and housing collapse - the increased deficit is the price we pay for not having that complete collapse and actually seeing job growth. While it isn't much in balance, it had to overcome a large number of public sector (ie tax funded) job loss.

Anyway, what channel should I watch for this stuff guys? I want something more neutral. BBC doesn't cover it enough.

Fox - right wing propaganda
CNN - slanting right
MSNBC - left wing
Sky - right wing Murdoch owned

So what's left, what's good?

Fox Spin:

Romney Smokes Obama in Predebate Coin Toss

If it disappears:

PBS is the only good news channel

I do feel like Romney got screwed over a bit there, he got screwed out of making a couple of comments and Obama was allowed to run over a few times

They both ran over a lot -- one comment by Romney in particular was about twice as long as his two minutes. I also think that Romney looked like he got screwed out of comments because he kept DEMANDING MORE COMMENTS. Obama got shut down once and he just said "okay" and let it go. Romney has demonstrated his inability to do that basic social interaction in this setting. I don't think it looked good. I could be biased.

Romney tonight: The government can't create jobs.

Romney earlier: If I'm elected I'll create 12,000,000 jobs.

Obama really needs to bust out that the only reason Romney has this number placed at 12 million is because that's the CBO projection with the current (Obama) policies. If Romney is elected he wants to trick people into thinking that the number he did nothing to earn is the result of his hard work.

Ok PBS it is.

EDIT: Fuck. No PBS on Sky. How about CNBC? Al jazeera international is awesome, but like the BBC, they don't concentrate on US news or politics. More global.

Look at my avatar. PBS is amazing for a reason. Should check it out.

OR..... they will save that money, or pay it out in dividends.

This is otherwise known as recent history.

He wants to cut taxes 20% across the board, increase the military budget by 2 trillion

So he suggests 500 billion in tax cuts and 200 billion in defense spending increases per year. This will be paid for with unspecified loopholes and spending cuts while supposedly not significantly impacting services provided via the use privatisation.

This sucks, we have serious problems to deal with and all I see is nonsense and bullshit.

CNBC is a business channel which will always lean Republican. Al jazeera is very good

god, this undecided focus group on msnbc...jesus christ

It's not really surprising, anyone undecided at this point is either not informed, clueless or doesn't care at all. What was it 10 people? and only 1 of them thought Obama won the debate...

Yeah I don't see how this works. He kept hammering balancing the budget over and over again but these numbers just make that laughable. This guy blatantly lies on national television and people still support him? I don't get it.
