Please don't mention Kendrick and Lupe in the same sentence. I could start to have nightmares of Kendrick doing a Lasers-esque album...
If Kendrick was on his own he probably would eventually but I think TDE will give him the support needed to not fall off like that.

I wanted to thank Hip-Hop GAF for bringing my attention to this album.

I don't listen to a lot of hip-hop...really only major releases and only sparingly at that, but this right here is stellar. I can't put a finger on why I love it so much, but it's almost like it takes me back a bit. This is the hole I wanted Food & Liquor II to fill.

What is the bet again? I would definitely take part in it. Though I like mine right now.
sub 100k first week, He picks my av for the rest of the year.

Over 200k, I pick his av for the rest of the year.

Over 100 but under 200, Siddx gets to bless us both with a new one.

Hate to preach, but all of you who are loving it should definitely buy it on Tuesday. Have to support this guy.

Doesn't it come out on Monday?

But yea, if you guys are enjoying the album, definitely go out and buy it.

I bought two Cole World albums.. (one for a friend)

I might have to buy a standard and deluxe

If you bought two cole worlds based on quality you better be handing out GKMC on public transit like you're trying to change people's religion.

Uh naw, I wouldn't go that far. But it's definitely a damn good album and I'm happy he did what I hoped he would and progressed as an artist instead of flaming out or just doing the same old thing because it's easy.

This era's Dylan is hyperbolic but I bet you can't name me a new school rapper who is anywhere near as good a storyteller.

That's why we're here, man :)
Definitely check out Section 80, Kendrick's previous album. In some ways, it's better than this one.

Gaf-Hop, it's our job to keep this thread on OT first page for the whole first week. Let's keep the hype levels. CD'S WILL BE EATEN!!!!

Offtopic: Has Gaf gone sour on Lupe. I know Lasers disappointed, but I dont even recall a thread for F&LII.

Was just listening to "Money Trees," and noticed the production sounded almost Beach House-esque. I looked up the credits of it on Wikipedia, which led me to "DJ Dahi" on that track.

I then found his Tumblr, and the top post is a link to Beach House's "Myth." Makes me wonder if he sampled Beach House for that track, which would be pretty awesome.

F&L2 is nothing more than mediocre and just praised because it followed up Lasers.

Is anyone still listening to it?

Was anyone even still listening to it a week after it came out?

He did sample Beach House. Silver Soul is the track in question. Really fucking awesome.

Good Kid verse melody reminds me of dungeon music from a Zelda game... TP or Ocarina

but yeah that, Sharain and Real are my least favorites

Gonna wait till I can get my physical which is next Friday in Australia lol

How cohesive is this album? Is the theme as tight as Section.80?

Very cohesive and the theme is much tighter than Section.80.

This is a pretty damn exemplary of what cohesive means when it comes to albums IMO.
