Wii U Release Day Thread

Watching all of these update bars, I really miss the days of simple turn-it-on-and-play consoles. Sheesh. Get home, hook it up, stick the game in, and BOOM! - I can hear the game's theme music and see the opening title screen!

Who knows? Maybe all of this nonsense won't be necessary for a simple Mario session..

I mean someone canceling their pre-order, since GameStop's supposed to hold it for two days. Hell, it can be longer on LE games, I had to keep calling for ZoE's when I flip flopped on that (though that doesn't seem to have been critical at all).
 
They're giving away grilled cheese and swag at the NWS. The line is also moving up. I think they're starting to sell consoles already.

Which Best Buy are you at? Not the Wilkes-Barre one, right? Because they told me they weren't doing a midnight launch anymore yesterday.

Grilled cheese is better than any swag. Or any early console sales.

I'm pretty sure you can just stick in a disc and start playing without having to update or create a Nintendo Network ID or anything. Well, unless you want to play online.

Warning: was just at such a Wal-Mart (in Wisconsin), and they had a grand total of four basic consoles beyond layaway preorders. This is anecdotal, but it seems like they're not a guarantee.
 
Can't wait to pick up my Deluxe tomorrow!! Going to try and have BB match targets buy 2 get 1 50% off since I have some gift cards there! NSMBU, ZombiU and BLOPS2 are what games I'm going with! I feel bad for the people who have to wait in line around here tho because it's been raining like cats and dogs the past couple days and it's pouring pretty bad atm lol

Okay those miis have been dancing for 20 minutes and the nws launch has officially become weirdo crazy town. Maybe it's the lack of sleep but I just want to get my console and run away. D=

The wait is getting rough but I must endure. In an hour an a half I make my way to Walmart. They have enough to cover pre-orders and eight more to sell on a first come first served basis.
 
Going to Best Buy in the afternoon or something tomorrow. Hopefully they hold up on my pre-order.








There won't be a Best Buy anymore if they don't. =x

I did this with my Sega Genesis back at launch when it was a known Christmas gift.

When my mother asked why it had been opened, I told her that I needed to have the warranty card in by December to get the Sega magazine subscription.

My pal and I decimated our way through Alturd Beast, Forgotten Worlds and enjoyed a few rounds of soccer before packing it away a couple hours later.


In any case, my wife is picking up the preordered layaway Wii U from Wal*Mart in the morning to put away for Christmas, it is for our five year old son and myself. :P
 
So soon and I'm fixing to have relief from my line for 20ish mins to eat at the Walmart subway.

The final hour will be quick.

In my mind I'm already rounding to 11pm.
 
I'm so glad I'm going to be able to update tonight, I want all-day tomorrow to be able to play. Less then a hour and twenty minutes before they let us in! Excite!
 
remember the Deluxe Digital Promotion website launches in December all your points start being counted on the 18th :)

can't wait to see what I earn from the damage I am about to do to my Credit Card this week
 
Got my text message and phone call from Gamestop...body is ready for 11AM tomorrow to pick up the console and stare at the box longingly through 8 hours of work.

I'm at the Harrisburg, Pa best buy. They just handed out tickets to everyone in line. It seems like they had plenty more, so if anyone in the area wants to get one I'd head over
