Fighting Games Weekly | December 10-16 | The roads are still safe from Justin Wong

MMA Ken would have been awesome, but kinda treading into Abel's turf there.

Infiltration/Poongko kinda make sense given that EG's primarily Starcraft, right? (Korean connection/cross promotion)

Why not Yun to counter pick Akuma?

I would have to imagine Daigo is thinking about that now. I can understand him using Ryu all the way, he had good momentum going into the GF and I felt a few set of different decisions might have made the match closer in the initial set. But at this point he needs to consider a different option. And I have to think other players are thinking too.

It's not that Akuma is so godlike, it's just that the best player in the world is using him and you need all the advantage you can get in that fight.

Don't know the reason, he does the same against Fei when he could pick Guile and make his time much easier. I guess he really likes Ryu and thinks he can win against anyone with him.

Abel's existence has already treaded upon most of Ken's turf

No particular reason. I just didn't bother retyping Yun.

Doesn't matter who you pick, you'll still lose to Beef. You're in beef's territory now!

What character does Beef play and what character gets completely fucked up by that character?

I'll play that guy and over come the odds with just 5 (count em) 5 moves.

Man his criticisms of himself are pretty far from what I thought watching him play. He was a one-trick pony and when his gameplan wasn't working he's get stuck like a deer in the headlights. There were a lot of times where he'd be completely dominating, then his mixup would get blocked and they'd have a full-life comeback on Tatsu because he didn't know what to do with Xiaoyu in the neutral game.

He had the best gameplan, but it was obvious he wasn't paying as much attention to his basics as coming up with a great strategy.

To be fair, Xiaoyu doesn't have much of a neutral game outside of st.mp and whiffing the overhead in the hopes that you'll catch a low or something.

I wonder what Tatsu thinks of her, because I don't see any reason why she's not a fucking terrible character.

Changing topic - anyone else miss the old WNF? Back when it was AE and Marvel it seemed to be so much more important. Splitting it to have the Capcom games on separate days seems to have deflated it.

Also, who is getting Injustice on launch? I need me some MK-alike goodness.

I might. Even though I don't like MK.

I don't watch WNF or run back anymore myself really. It goes too late and idk, I feel it is missing a certain thing . Hype ? I don't know. Maybe I am over it.

Yes. Splitting it dropped the numbers and Big Two became more prominent. That being said Marvel is the big draw and east coast is Marvel country.

Passing on Injustice. Gave MK9 a shot and in the end, I just like don't NRS style animation and combat.

Back when it wasn't the Playstaion All-Stars Power Hour? Yeah it was good stuff.

I understand Infil, but why Poongko?

Just for SF4, I'd put Poongko over all the EG guys. It doesn't help that Poongko's character is a counter pick against Justin, Ricky, and PR Rog's characters while he's just flat out better than Floe. That may change next year with people counter picking and switching characters though. But I think Poongko would be a great pick up if EG wants to pick up new players for the upcoming IPL x Capcom events.

Infiltration on the other hand, him and Laugh are BFF's. I feel like they would have to be a packaged deal like Choco and Momochi. But we'll see if any of this comes into fruition.

Why are we talking about SF4 in this thread?

I knew something was not right about this thread. Well it was fun while it lasted.

Yeah, I totally do!!! I think the lack of enjoyable commentators is what kills it, not enough Tasty Steve and UltraChen don't even show up as much anymore. Also, it seems that not as many of the top players show up, you don't get Combofiend, Justin, Mike Ross, and many others as much as you used to.

Pretty much everything possible went wrong with WNF/TRB.
- Commentators got worse
- Schedule absurdly late starting, not good for East Coast, people on East Coast who even did once tune in lost interest (I realize there is an issue with overlapping with Big Two though0
- Constant switching of games between days made people care less
- Long breaks even without ads, WTF were they thinking
- Competition got staler, less matches began being shown for Marvel at least
- Entertainment value couldn't hold up to Big Two where stuff going on in and around the venue makes you feel like a part of the environment as everything is happening, on top of lacking the personality that the EC has

Pretty much lost all motivation to watch even TRB archives.

I miss watching WNF, but due to having to go to work earlier in the mornings means I can't stay up late to watch it anymore due to when it's on. Which is fine, it is what it is.

I'd like to get Injustice, I had fun with MK and hopefully they learned their lesson when it came to online play. MK was horrid online...

Is Injustice anything like MK? From all accounts it sounds more like an ABC "doujin-style" fighter.

Big Two is the best weekly there is. Its a fact.

i need to see ALOT more of Injustice.

i have no idea how a typical match flows, no sense of the rhythm the game will have. NR need to release more vids or start takin the game to more shows n tourneys.

I agree with almost all of this. I live in Cali and used to listen to TRB and WNF while working or playing games at home. It runs so late now.

Pretty much spot on

Like 90% of the reason for me not watching TRB is the time issue. I'd watch it for Marvel if they didn't start so late. I like games like KOF and all (I mean seriously, look at my username) but I'm not staying up that late to watch it.

I never watch WNF because I find SFIV outside of majors fairly stale atm---same goes for Big Two.

Big Two AE could get interesting if both Sanford and Dieminion are trying new characters. ChrisG is also getting better.

I play Hawk. Yun and Yang are probably his best matchups at 3.5 each.

Seriously, it's that bad for the twins.

I hope WNF goes back to having AE and Marvel on the same night and have less dead air time. It's bad enough how late it starts since I'm on the east coast, but to also have so many periods when there's dead air makes it unwatchable. And hopefully having both games back on the same night will bring the big names back out. The other games can be moved to Thursday since there's not as much overlap between players.

Maybe they will consider making some changes once Season 6 and SCR are over.

AE used to be stale, but lately it has been very interesting to watch.
