Person of Interest |S2 OT| Not For The Weak-Kneed

Person of Interest is clearly demonstrating that it has no desire to maintain the status quo. Stuff is just constantly happening and changing. New characters enter the stage as others leave permanently.

This shows knows how to surprise, at the very least.
Oh, the show is still great on it's procedural merits if you ask me, but for the serial parts at least they don't spin their wheels for years on end (Burn Notice comes to mind).

The New guy for next week?

Dude, it's one of the McPoyle Brothers from It's Always Sunny.

He was also on Breakout Kings, that quasi Prison Break spinoff.

At first I was a bit miffed that this was Kara's end. I thought at first that her character was probably being quickly written out because Anna Parrise is going to go star on that Following show with Kevin Bacon (who knows how long that'll last huh?).

Who knows, maybe she was originally planned to last longer given all the build-up she got in Season 1 (though her back-story and motivations were only truly spelled out this episode), but thinking on what we knew of her at the end, there really was nothing left where she could go after this episode, since her primary motivation turned out to be simple revenge with no other allegiances to anyone or anything else (her business with the new british dude was complete and was only so she could get one name). Sure she got Finch's name, but that would have only led to another confrontation with Reese in the future which would probably be a retread of this episode anyway.

So yeah, sad to see the character go. But at least they managed to write her out without it feeling too out of place. Plus, it was a great end to be done in by Snow of all people.

Would love to get a gif of Kara and her reaction as Snow suicides her. :D

Damn, I love this show so much. The writers have balls of steel.
Also..my take on the ending
It's Ingram who's using Finch's alias
And I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this :)

My Speculation

I'm feeling it the other way. Harold never had the CIA or Government contacts that Nathan did. I don't see Finch being able to send in an order for a mission to go to China. I'm seeing that either Finch tried to make another Machine, Nathan tried to make another machine using Harold's name, or this group knows the name of the person who made the machine and imply that he's the person responsible for all of this i.e. just by creating the machine, making spies "useless", making the government be ultra protective of this Machine.)

I still feel that Nathan's Death and Harold's injuries tie back into this, either the government tying up loose ends, or because they did this China thing. I also keep wondering about the Season 1 flashback of Kara and Reese hiding in NYC, while interrogating a guy in a closet. I've wondered if that guy was Nathan, or if Kara/John might have been the people that cause whatever happened to Nathan and Finch

Probably right it was Nathan doing other things behind Finch, can't wait till they cover Finch/Nathan's presumed fallout. It must of been bad since Alicia Corwin basically ran far away from technology and Finch was nervous when Nathan's son was around.

As for the 5 months countdown, the episode events occurred on November 19th, 2012 so I'm assuming April 19th, 2013 or around then we should expect to be close the finale and the big thing to happen.

Finally, we really need a Fusco flashback episode. Only main character who's past hasn't really been explored.

Yeah, can't wait to find out what happened to Nathan (and Finch), but also, to find out what kind of man Nathan really was. He always had this cavalier aspect to him, in the way he dealt with the tough issues in conversation to the CIA. But had a definite vulnerability when one on one with Finch, about what they were doing, then right before they were going to give up the Machine, secretly being the person to create the system to have the Irrelevant List be dialed out to the designated Admin. Nathan did that, not Finch.

So, maybe Finch was the person behind the mission to retrieve/destroy this laptop in China. If so, I'd assume only at the level of letting the government know it existed (or was stolen, I don't know), and they needed to do something about it. I'd assume it was the Government (Or just Snow) that decided they needed to retire the agents sent in. Cause even before Finch came around on the Irrelevant List, he didn't appear to be the kind of man that would be ok with killing people, at least in the way they tried to kill John and Kara.

Something else I'm wondering about. At the beginning, when Finch is talking to Carter on the phone, he puts down 3 books, then you see him type in a SS number, and Kara pops up, making her the POI. So, the Machine picked up that her mission was wrapping up and is going to kill Snow (and John). Unless it knew something else.

Probably par for the course, all the Machine is saying something is about to happens and it revolves around Kara. Interesting how the machine is slow/late with numbers around Kara, maybe the guys using her know how to hide or obscure data from the machine.

This is the second time the machine gave a number to Finch instead of the govt. Kara's attack on the DOD facility is definitely a person of interest number for the NSA/DOD.

Which kind of falls to Root's point about the machine is living/making decisions and should be free.

Funny that Snow dies, and the very next day, the Actor (Michael Kelly) is on House of Cards (that Netflix show)

Mind Blown time:

He was this guy in that Dawn of the Dead remake..

I loved the episode, except the very end. Revealing the name on the paper as if it's some big twist. If you didn't know who was written on there, you don't have the intellect to operate a television.

Shows audience has grown quite a bit over time, not everybody watching has been there from the beginning.

Series finale in 2019 to be directed by Christopher Nolan.

In all seriousness, I am worried that CBS might take this TV show over 10+ seasons. The ratings are astonishingly high. I don't know if Nolan and writers can keep the quality high for that long.

Seven seasons sounds great to me. Let Christopher Nolan do the first and last episode of every season, instant audience grabber and guarantee of landmark episodes for the series.

So my thoughts about this awesome episode is that it was fucking awesome. Kara was delightfully devious and I loved Snow finally getting his revenge on her. Great episode for both characters. Loved the moments with Finch and Reese at the end. True bros till the very end. Also loved Reese playing silly with Bear, hahaha. Carter must have a concussion, she was walking around all messed up all episode.

Looks our roster of villains is changing quite a bit this season. We now have Alistair and Nolan's Uncle as new villains and we've lost Donnelly, Kara, and Snow. Love how this season treats this "journey". Villain arcs feel very natural.

Now I hope we begin to deal with Lionel's arc soon. Next week the dude from Breakout Kings shows up! I liked that show, gone too soon.

If this show lasted ten seasons and the quality remained this high, then fuck yeah. But I think Nolan and co. will know when to cash their chips in, so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

But shit, Christopher Nolan directing a few episodes would be fucking awesome.

ugh its john nolans project, I would not mind chris nolan contributing, but not of "first and last episode"-importance.

Yep. PoI proved that he's not just riding on his brother's talent. I would love Chris doing an ep or two, but the major ones, John deserves them.

Is this the first time Jonathan Nolan has directed ever?

I agree with you though.
I don't remember a time when John did direct, so I would assume this is the first.

I am all for Jonathan directing, I imaging he will blow it out of the park. After all, it is his baby, no one knows the atmosphere better than him.

Should be good considering that casting news you posted awhile back.

I guess the only question that remains is...

will John hook up with Shaw/Sarah Shahi?

Goddamn, I shouldn't google pictures of her at work. But Lord, is it worth it.

When I get home, boy, it'll be picture time.

Seriously, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Amy Acker and Sarah Shahi, it's like PoI can see the inside of my head in my dreams.

Finally caught up to the most recent episodes, only started watching a few weeks ago.

Now the agonizing weekly waits! Dammit why does this show gotta be so good?

Just watched this weeks episode; I'm blown away with how good it was. Sad to see Kara go but I like the change in villains especially with sexy crazy Root still out there.

Why did the FBI end up only identifying Kara and Snow? The DoD guy saw all three of them.

Glad Kara is out actually, I'd prefer more of a genius villain rather than chaotic evil or something along her lines. And her ending was a great one :)

Considering John saved the dude and actually tried to save the day, I assume the DoD guy left him out of the report. Maybe the Delta guys too, or everyone assumed he was just a hired gun that was also killed by the Man in the Suit.

Took me awhile to figure out to create this but:

Nice.

Why did Kara drag John into her evil scheme? I mean, John didn't even shoot her in ordos and both of them were just following orders. It's obvious that she had an axe to grind with Snow but can anyone explain why she included John in her plan as well?

She needed a second man for the job who was expendable. She doesn't actually give a shit about Reese. He's trained and already considered dead. She's nothing if not utilitarian.

What the fuck, man. That is the most horribly photoshopped image of a beautiful woman I've ever seen. Why would you do that, Sal? Seriously, you nearly destroyed my eye sight. Resize plz.

Once again, I'm the hero that PoI-GAF needs.

She's ridiculously stunning. There's more photos I wanted to post, but that might go into semi-NSFW territory.

I got to stop reading posts during the week, one you start thinking about POI, it hard to think about anything else.

EDIT: Reese will destroy her.

Interpret that in any way you want.

She was great in Life. (Which is a pretty decent show as well!)
