There was hints at it that statue dedicated to him in episode 2 and news paper article about his death, and reinforced in a conversation between Finch and Ingram's son.

Gotcha. So probably dead, although maybe open for a "the body was never found" and shocking reveal he's still alive somewhere? Although I guess they kind of did that with Kara already so I wouldn't expect it twice.

im not sure I got that? what was that last shot you are talking about, what was the machine doing

has anybody else noticed the machine "glitching" when it shows camera feeds? as in, a blue screen shows up for a fraction of a second? sorry if this has already been noticed, but i just noticed for the first time when watching this last episode.

Really enjoyable and solid episode. I really liked it. I liked Jimmi Simpson as Pierce. I've been a fan of his since Psych and Breakout Kings (gone too soon). I also really like how he might another recurring frienemy for John and Finch. He seems genuinely curious and not villainous, so I see sort of any future run-ins being a bit more on the friendly side. Maybe's he's John's Root, I dunno, haha. Pretty funny episode though, I liked Pierce's antics and Reese's almost subtle exasperation at them. I did really like that scene between Pierce and John about Pierce's parents. Also loved seeing Pierce figure them out so fast. I really like that character.

Most interesting thing was definitely Nathan at the end. So he was the proto-Finch/Reese and they're the contingencies (assuming he died doing this). Very interesting. Also, Bear was depressed cause he needed a friend or cause he needed to get laid, haha.

Also, what the hell, Carter. You've broken like six million laws and you throw that "I'm still a cop, yo" bullshit on Fusco? Not like he killed those two cops.

Maybe it's starting to get more sentient. Or Root's trying to break in. Or it's just an added effect for fun.

Edit: Or oh shit, it's Kara's virus thing she uploaded!?

Yeah, that part seemed a bit out of character with Carter - I think when push comes to shove she'll fall on the right side. Those situations were kill or be killed scenario's. I feel for Fusco, got a feeling a storm is brewing for him.

I like the pace of Nathan's narrative, plodding along nicely and him tracking down POI's. Loved how they decided to move out of NYC a little bit this episode.

I know im wrong but if im not mistaken last weeks episode was set in 2012 this week was 2013 but I could have sworn an episode or two before last week also said 2013.

Just started last episode, think it probably has significance. By the way... best damn show on tv.

ingram with a gun fighting crime is badass as hell!!

correct. last weeks episode was supposed to air in november originally.

That last episode is still in my head, it made me think of another like it in S1, I remember posting this back then:

I remember that quote from Finch last week "It maintains itself, updates itself, patches itself." I think it makes more sense that the machine recognizes Reese than someone in the inside.

Reminds me of the Root episode and it (person controlling it?) recognized that Reese was a threat to the system and chose to monitor him.

Why do I have a strong feeling this will be the focus for the season finale?

If no one knows the full ranging capabilities of the machine, why not find a vulnerability to take it offline temporarily if only to see how it responds to an intentional attack?

WHAT IF IT GOES SKYNET ON US.

But then Finch is like, "Come on baby, chill". And everything's okay again.

If it is the virus, I hope there are more little clues like other devices not working properly. Just subtle mentions.

Though of course, the virus isn't supposed to activate for months, so maybe its not it. Could be nothing.

That'd definitely be interesting.

Perhaps undermining the Machine in the run-up to the deadline is part of the virus?

Interesting idea. I really like that. Could make things interesting until the machine patches itself.

is always a good thing. I love how the previews always call them Mr. Finch and Mr. Reese. How about calling every character with Mr and Miss/Mrs. Miss Carter, Mr. Fusco, Miss/Mrs Root.

That's Ms. Groves to you, thank you very much.

I need to learn how to make GIFs, these crap Tumblr ones only go so far.

just watched the latest, loved it. mcpoyle lol! the biggest strength of this show is how rich the back story and the creation of the super computer is. they could continue to go and do procedural episodes and keep it fresh while throwing in some more back story. loved all the ingram scenes, love they are delving more into their back story and his inevitable death. was surprising to see it was him who started using the numbers, as when the machine marked him as a threat from an episode in season 1, i always assumed he betrayed finch in some way that led to his death (which can still happen). was nice to see he was the one who was first conflicted and it was finch who wanted to ignore the numbers.

between castle, hawaii five-0 and poi, this is the only procedural show that stays fresh for me.

My friend and I end up calling this show Jesus and the Sassy Cop, referring to Reese and Carter, cos we'd somehow always forget their names.

Dad was on the phone with a coworker, and apparently the coworkers daughter was across the street from where they were filming an episode. Not fair.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

What POI does so flawlessly is to push their writers to their full potential, the ability to take a traditional case and expand the narrative into the overarching plot. A convincing story line grabbed the viewer from the get go and expands the ramifications for future episodes. What sealed this episode was the build up to that shocking conclusion.

Got damn.

What a reveal. Now we know why Nolan is directing the next episode.

How do you surpass a closing like that? You get the creator himself to set the stage for the rest of the season.

Bravo to everyone involved in this fantastic show.

So I was enjoying this episode and then my spider sense went off when I heard the secretary. I was like:

Then she started walking in

The camera panned up to reveal her. I was like

Then the episode ended...so I tried to fast forward time by speeding up the earth

I failed

Great episode! This show continues to leave me wanting more and NEVER lets me down.
