Marika is a pretty terrible joke character (well every character is in Nisekoi). The only reason Nisekoi is better than KNIM is because KNIM takes itself deadly serious.

That's the problem, she's a one note character that obviously isn't going to win. She's a joke that is being dragged on for way too long. That actually describes the manga fairly well.

This fucking manga blew. The first half sucked and was just a terrible romcom with no sense of progression and bad characters doing random shit, but after the introduction of Kotori and all these DRAMA storylines got added, the manga got even worse. Kotori was just an awful character and it's funny how fast it took for the manga to play her as the tragic misunderstood hero in the most cliched manner. And then two more lame confessions later and the story is finally over in the least satisfactory conclusion.
It's quite an accomplishment that this manga managed to end up being worse than Nisekoi when it had a very promising first chapter.

They're pretty much by default fucking terrible, boring characters unless they're Belldandy.
