Never made it all the way through BF3's SP campaign considering it was so.... typical. Here's to hoping they can do more with BF4 than just make it look pretty, which it obviously does.

@repi 1m

Our Battlefield 4 reveal yesterday was running on the, just announced, @AMDRadeon 7990 'Malta' GPU, awesome hw!

How's that performance wise compared to whatever's in the PS4?

I wonder if the comparable PC GPU to the PS4 can run BF3 @ Ultra @1080/60.

Nope. 7870 [48fps] and 7850 [46fps] @1080p ultra

Now in a close box it might be able to...

I wonder if amd driver improve performance since these 2012 benchmarks

edit:wow look at the performance improve in the Cat 12.11 driver

7870 went from 58.2 average at launch to 73fps @ 1920x1200 !! wow

Thought most of it was boring until the last 5-6 minutes which were very impressive, cool set pieces. Especially when he grabs his partner before he falls and you see the helicopter crash below. The music playing when he shoots the helicopter was great too.

But yea the rest made me roll my eyes even though it's pretty. I think I just hate modern day military FPS campaigns in general now. Both the corridor's and the open spaces with waves of enemies bore me. I really wish we could play as something other than BRO YOU ALRIGHT BRO American men.

Looks exactly how I hoped a next gen game would look. Fantastic.

I hope they keep the Battlefield theme when your team is winning in a match. That shit is good.

Hmmn.. So theres a possibility even at "almost-ultra" 1080 with locked 60 or a variable 30-60 at ultra 1080.

Those were at launch number. Since then amd has updated the drivers. The performance improvement were like 15% for bf3. I edited that post.

I see no reason why they couldnt do it at 1080p 60fps on ps4....

They could, but just not at these settings we see now in the 17 minutes gameplay reveal.

Looks amazing, can't wait to see some good 64 player MP footage. For now though - looks great and I certainly hope the SP is good in this one.

Should not have shown Press F to Cut Leg.

Graphics look pretty insane.
Gut feeling is im not seeing much new – even down to the same knife animations. Highly scripted single player, with ridiculous action and every turn, just doesn’t do it for me. Not sure why so many resources are spent on something most Battlefield fans will NEVER touch. They could easily just make single player a simple training ground for multiplayer.

Multiplayer probably wont be talked about until the E3 show and that isnt until the summer. It would have been nice to get some info on multiplayer – the new features and such. We need to know if its 64 players on consoles – because this still is not confirmed yet – its all riding on that for me.

360p 240fps
720p 30fps

Since the console versions are effectively a no show, kindly don't mind me making stuff up :P

I'm happy with 720p@60fps. Even with a steady 30 fps on console.

But I don't want to see major framedrops and screen tearing. The PS4 has the power to meet my expectations, no doubt about that.

I will always be a console guy. Always.

TO put it in perspective on BF3 the PS4's GPU would do about 44 FPS as an avergage at 1080p with all effects at ultra setting. This is of course with a much better processor backing it up. The 7990 however does the same at 149 FPS.Then again though that card draws 500watts which is insane.

Yeah, same here - I wuldn't mind 720p @60fps with some nice antialiasing to smooth out the edges (I prefer it to 1080p without AA).

Actually, it would be neat if you could choose the internal rendering resolution on next-gen consoles as a fast way to get better performance. I think (?) that on current gen, you can change the output resolution, but it doesn't improve performance because the internal render res stays the same.

Seeing that consoles have no settings really it will be at whatever dice set them at. To say they cant do something is silly based on nothing....

Wouldnt be happy with 720p at all. I guess if this is running on a 7990 it should be at higher than 1080p and way above 60 fps...
Have to disagree. Wish more games would target 720p. With a tv you have to sit so close to see the difference between 1080p and 720p.

I'm sorry to come down negative on this but I hate this kind of shit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=U8HVQXkeU8U#t=04m30s

Enemy soldier gets shot three fucking times with (what looks like) a sniper rifle and does this weird buckling animation twice before the final shot kills him.

Just shows what kind of audience they are aiming for in the sp.

You can take 3 rounds in your body armor and don't die, but you wont be standing either, and most likely have quite the few fractures and bruises.

So I just woke up and threads all exploded. WHat's the consensus? Everyone hate it like I expected because it's more of the same old BF/CoD set piece stuff?

If we're not taking the CPU into consideration and look just at pixel rendering times then 1080@44fps is about the same as 900@60fps, which I think I'd be okay with...

On the topic of MP vs SP, it's an odd one. I only played BF3 for its multiplayer but for some reason, I don't think I'd buy a multiplayer only game.

But that is because there are very few of the high end consoles games which target 1080p. Even playing games on my laptop, which had a gtx 485, the difference between 720 and 1080 is very noticible...

Pretty much what I expected next gen to look like to start off. A few steps up on what we have now but whit heaps of shit flying everywhere.

I'm more than happy.

While extremely impressive in it's own right I couldn't finish watching the whole demo. Nothing shown was particularly interesting beyond the visuals. I'll be more interested in seeing this engine in Mass Effect to be honest. Still extremely pretty, but this is something I'm gonna have to play myself to enjoy.

Anyone who says this looks like BF3 is out of their minds. This looks so much more detailed in terms of character models, textures and lighting, as well as particle effects. It looks awesome.

I can't wait.

Hoping we get some actual authentic military uniforms rather than the usual guys that look like they are in some air soft tournament.
