Battlefield 4 "Fishing in Baku" 17 minute gameplay video reveal

Game looks fantastic. I'm surprised at people thinking this will be 720p on PS4; PS4 was built with 1080p in mind; this gen was 720; 1080 isn't even that demanding when you remember that current consoles are so ancient.

The first part with the big area, using a vehicle, flanking, a bit of destruction and pseudo lite squad orders was kind of interesting.. then it came the bombastic shit of COD and here we go -_- (seriously how they take the heli, I don't want Arma levels of realism, but that was embarrasing) . I'll keep an eye in case they have something interesting in the campaign, but it'll be probably another military lineal scripted shooter. I would love Dice to have a singleplayer campaign that was like BC1 and Red Faction Guerrilla, using vehicles, destruction and open world design (like Crysis 1 for example).
Who am I kidding? U_u
 
I think, overall, the SP looks like it could have better pacing/flow than BF3's. It looks like there may be a minor amount of "dynamic" combat, in how you approach solving situations, which always helps.

However, there is still much of the same shit:

-Press F to do something you have to do to advance the story
-How appropriate that the game starts you off in a corridor
-Disconnection from consequences of actions (this is conjecture--however, I'm willing to bet that when you're asked to do something, the game will wait for you until you do it)
-Hoping that a lot of those explosions weren't scripted

Could be fun. Bring on MP.

Multiplayer probably wont be talked about until the E3 show and that isnt until the summer. It would have been nice to get some info on multiplayer – the new features and such. We need to know if its 64 players on consoles – because this still is not confirmed yet – its all riding on that for me.

Its whats being promoted and what sells. CoD trailers and commercials never show MP either, it always shows bombastic SP events.

I think a majority out there does buy these games because of the Single player and corresponding trailers. BF started this approach with 3 and it wasn't a relevant seller until then.

Ew, BF3 console was awful, if it's not on. Next gen consoles EA are shooting themselves in the foot.

That's what I figured, announce it at E3 when both consoles are unveiled instead of having just a PS4 logo and MS fanboys going crazy.
It would have to be on next gen systems, otherwise that just seems like a terrible move

Looked pretty good to me. You can tell there were times in the footage where the player made use of the environment to flank or put themselves in a position that was advantageous without the game forcing that choice. It seems more open in that regard than what we normally get.
 
Looks nice but no,i was excited about BF3. But at this moment i do not feel anything about it. Also why did they show SP? I do not care about that but hey it is dice want show of there excellent and thrilling scripted events. Will buy at a low price maby not going to pre order anything from EA.

Edit : I expect the same thing what will happen with launch as it did with BF3. Yeah i will wait.
 
I wonder if the "suppress" button is purely contextual or an actual game mechanic. I thought it was a mechanic but he uses it to tell his mates to suppress and then the chopper to suppress, so I don't know.

DICE had lots of smoke and mirrors with BF3. I've been conditioned to not even believe the destruction in this trailer is representative of what the engine can do--you just can't tell.

Even if they "do" confirm it, it can still be BS. I remember when Demize pointed out that you can destroy the Caspian Border radio tower. Oh wait, you can't! Wait, soon you will be able to--within the last 30 seconds of the round.





But it's cool, I'm over it.
 
If that forest outdoor section is what MP forest looks like I'm impressed but I imagine pretty much all that foliage will be non existent. It's nice to dream though.
 
I've enjoyed every minute of this, it looked fantastic through and through. I think it looked more 'real' than KZ:SF, but KZ looked prettier due to sci-fi imagery, all the glass and reflections, and art direction. I love the look of both games, and I sort of now expect this game to run at 30 on PS4 as well.

The only thing that's "wrong" with this footage, the reason that it doesn't provoke the intended response from people is that characters are someone you've never seen before and thus hard to care about. If it was Solid Snake or Drake going through this same exact sequence here, and not some nameless soldier dude, I think people would be literally flipping their shit.

BF Multiplayer trailer update -


Bitty (a popular supplier of BF info prior to it being "officially" announced) has stated the following regarding a trailer for the multiplayer aspect of the game that so many are dying to see:


"'There will be multiplayer trailer on 30th of March. Trailer with elements of gameplay. It's not gonna be like any other trailers of Battlefield series. I'm not gonna say anything more."

Bitty also confirmed prior to it being common knowledge that the BF4 trailer would be "longer than 12 minutes". He also, UNFORTUNATELY said the mostly hated "blue filter" is back for BF4. Dice really listens to their community...

IMO it doesn't have as much as a graphical leap as bf3 did but it still looks great. It looks like Dice improved the lightning effects and the faces look much better now.

Demize has outright lied multiple times in the past to the community. Bitty on the other hand has literally called about 20-25 solid pieces of unannounced information since the Bad Company 2 days.

I trust him over Demize any day.

I never understood that mentality. It's like they think will be better marketing leaving MP for last.

I would personally showed 10 mins of SP footage and 5 mins of MP just give people a little tease. That would been more cool.
