Puzzles & Dragons Z coming to 3DS

MY EYES.

I'm pretty interested in knowing how this will be sold, what kind of entry it will be.
Will it be a sort of porting of the original iOS / Android hit, so FTP (even if saying it's FTP is a little a joke XD)? In the case, it could be sold like PSO2 on Vita: FTP version on eShop and a retail SKU with some bonuses and other things.
Or will it be a different story? An expanded entry with many brand new content that would mean retail release?

If they can make it different and unique enough from the smartphone version, this could be huge. Otherwise I don't see why people would stop playing this on their phones.

This, Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest have secured their domination in the East.

I just wish we'd see these kind of mega acquisitions in the west. Come on Nintendo, get crafting those money hats!

Woah I loved the phone version I just hated the typical free to play traps of it.

An actual game version of this would be wonderful.

Can anyone explain that game to me? what is it? Why is it so successful?

(have never heard of it before)
Pokemon + Bejeweled is basically what it is. Became successful because for a freemium game, it's genuinely really fun and involves a lot more than just waiting for your energy to refill.

Pokemon + Bejeweled except with far deeper gameplay than a combination of those two games would suggest. You could fill novels writing about the nuances of gameplay and team building strategies.

Some new info from scans:
- Winter 2013 targeted release date
- 200+ monsters, some exclusive to PAD-Z, some from the iOS/Android version
- Looking like a spinoff ala Maplestory DS / Ragnarok Odyssey instead of a port
- Probably not going to be F2P

The scan provides a link to http://pad.3ds.gungho.jp, but that site hasn't gone live yet.

I could have declared I heard this was going to Vita but oh well. Sony's loss.

Considering the dire straits they are in at the moment, I doubt any studio would accept a money hat from them.

If the money hat covered the cost of development and marketing (and isn't a super gigantic franchise), they'd most certainly do it if they got to keep the profits.

If it's not F2P it'll be interesting to have a way to get monster you want without spending $1000 and pray.

You never had to do that on the OG game.

Likely this will just be the dungeons with a more liberal Magic Stone and Ranking system, since everything else that made the game addicting will be stripped (And several factors already sound worse)

GungHo... Just cut your losses and do a straight up port.

The ONLY way this would be somewhat palatable is if there were tons of different abilities between monsters that do weird and whacky things. doubt they would put that much thought into it though

Unless it's a port of the game or at least has all the same mechanics, then it won't have any legs. P&D is all about that collection and progression, don't change that up.

Ya, my wife has great valkyrie, Ama, Hera, and a few others (plus all the healers, mystic knights, etc) without spending money. Just requires more patience. GungHo throws you a decent number of free stones through special events and login bonuses.

Thank you very much. A strange, yet interesting concept. Will check out videos.

yeah if you regularly play and are in the game for the long haul, you don't need to feed real money into stones.

PAD is honestly the most awesome mobile game I have played-deep, skill testing, huge amounts of content. I look forward to any spinoffs (including this one) that GungHo makes.

Hopefully this one actually comes out in Canada so I don't have to import. I don't think the iOS one ever made it.

man. hope it comes to the Vita soon :/
wasted

EDIT: before anyone else further misunderstands.
I just feel that this is really a missed opportunity for Sony

It's probably worth it to just get the .apk on your Android device (Or region spoofing for iTunes). You'd still be able to play, just have to do a bit of 'searching' and reinstalling the newer .apk every few months when there is an update. This version has less than half of the current monsters at a much lower resolution, and will definitely lack the 'progression' a mobile social game will have, and will definitely lack updates.

Awesome. I have no problem paying for that game, a 3DS Port has great potential, I hope for some nice exclusive content.

I don't know if they can take away sales from the Android/iOS versions, but this is sort of a mini megaton. That game has like 10million+ downloads.
