Maybe... Lego City Undercover, New Super Mario U, or Nintendoland?
These 3 for sure. Nothing else really great on the console that a child can play.
Yes those 3 are good, although NSMBU is on the tough side IMO, NSMBwii is easier.
I would add Sonic Racing if he likes racing games or NFSMWU.
Yeah I was gonna mention NFSMWU, might be hard on his own but it's still fun wreaking havoc regardless, and the co-driver mode works well if he has someone better to play with to compensate on the controls (albeit still a bit crazy as I found out when playing with my nephews and nieces a few weeks back).
Don't forget eShop stuff, maybe set up an account for him/parents and give a gift card.
LEGO City Undercover should be your NUMBER ONE CHOICE.
Seriously, for a 5 year old, it will be a dream come true. It'd be the ultimate "cool" gift, and by extension you'll be the coolest five year old cousin!
Watch him sit in front of the screen and play it for hours and hours.
He may give up on NSMB:U (too hard), and get bored with Nintendo Land, but LEGO City Undercover is something he will treasure!
sorry if I'm a slight OT but I'm a Junior

thought this could deserve his own thread, but I can't open it.
Note: I'm not familiar with this brand though. Never heard of it.
I've asked for this since day one. Now what we need is an anti vibration support for the consolesorry if I'm a slight OT but I'm a Junior

How is the netflix app working? Considering signing up. (edit: EU)
What about Toki Tori 2? Yes, it's a "minor" game, but we are at a time where even those minor games can be awesome if they are well designed, and this is the case of this AWESOME game.ive got it, and i really like it, the gamepad is quite awesome
like a lot of people I just wish there was something to play on it
maybe I will get injustice for it
That seems the best way to go.
Someone else earlier in the thread claimed this worked for them, but never explained how you remove sync of the gamepad?

I don't think you do. You press the sync buttons on the console and controller, and it should re-pair.
Just bought darksiders 2 but I can't seem to get the pro controller working, any help?
Guys, is the Wii U getting anything significant between now and...Pikmin 3?

yesKirby out already in the US?
I know this isn't the 'Wii U customer service thread', but it seems to be the most active and general purpose one currently in use, so apologies in advance for posting a little off-topic - I'll edit if people are truly irked by it. Anyway...
Has anybody tried to sync their Gamepad after the inital synchronisation process?
I've tried to do it (after having a few Gamepad connection issues) and it has resulted in the controller display freezing on a message screen which tells me I've already synced the device. The 'please wait...' seems to be perpetual and so I need to reset the console to get out of it.
Would be interested to hear if anybody else has experienced this, or even if people haven't after trying to re-sync. Cheers, people.

I haven't had any connection issues with my gamepad but I tried this out and yes the controller locks up (or i'm just not waiting long enough to see if it does finish whatever it was trying to do).
yea I would assume you can if it can now read data from 2 different HDDs but we'll see I guess.I am excited about the Harddrive features of next-week's update you can transfer your stuff from one drive to another but I wonder if you can plug in two at the same time I would like to have a small SSD for my most played online games on my Wii U
also like being able to press a button while starting up to go to Wii Mode which I have ignored and not sure if I'll ever finish Skyward Swords or The Last Story if I don't find Wii Mode interesting and easy to get to
They are getting my 5 year old cousin a basic set this week for his birthday. He will be playing some Wii games for kids on it since his Wii died last week. Any recomendations though on which Wii U games would be good for him? I might get him one for his birthday! Serious question here so help will be appreciated.
I have been thinking more and more of buying a Wii U. Although it is the price that is still an issue... Tried WU at a friends, and it really feels nice with the gamepad & off tv play.
The thing is that my storage is full of old consoles, and l really cannot afford just to have another thing that I don't play.

Many thanks for the feedback.
It's interesting to hear another person is getting the same thing with the locking up while trying to re-sync. I'll see if any more responses come back before contacting Nintendo's CS to see if this is supposed to happen. Although if your system is working fine and you're seeing the same as me, then I'm more inclined to think that it is a quirk of the OS, rather than a problem with the hardware.
The browser locks up a lot <_<
