Giant Bomb Thread #4: A thread of perceived slights

I subscribe mainly so I get HD on my Roku. The premium shows are cool, but not my main reason to give them money.

I'd be content with Unprofessional Fridays, TNT, and 1 other piece of premium content each week. I don't think that's too much to ask for

Would you rather no video at all?

Yea, probably. I would have been bummed sure, but it's not like they're sitting around doing nothing.

Are some of you so seriously starved for things to do that 4++ hours a week (between TNT and the Friday show) of streamed content isn't enough? On top of the 3 hour bombcasts? And Quick Looks? And Jar Time? And the Wednesday show - which they stopped doing weekly for a great reason: it was content for the sake of content, and it was terrible when all of a sudden all they had was fishing games to play that week.

No, I don't think that's the point... I get that the Wednesday show wasn't working out, which is fine. They said that they want to do all all kinds of cool shit, which is exciting, but it doesn't actually look like they meant it. Which as a subscriber is pretty disappointing.

Like I said, I don't really care if they're bummin around all day doing nothing, I'm not gonna sit here be like "you guys need to be busting ass to entertain me all day!" f that. I don't know, it just feels like a weird "do they respect their audience thing". Ehh, I don't know, that's probably pretentious of me to say.

They have the dream job, they have the ability to do some awesome shit, but instead they live stream themselves sitting around literally doing nothing. Like they're not even trying.

It was just a dumb thing to stream.

I don't think you understand. They were required my management to clean the office. That's what they did today. They cleaned. They decided to stream it to entertain people. They didn't say, "Hey, you know what? Fuck games, I feel like cleaning today." It was either they stream while they clean or they just clean.

Also, saying this:

Like I said, I don't really care if they're bummin around all day doing nothing, I'm not gonna sit here be like "you guys need to be busting ass to entertain me all day!" f that.

then saying this:

seems really silly.

Didn't Patrick mention in ILM that CBSi was breathing down their necks on producing more video content? I wonder if this is some sort of passive-aggressive way of responding to that. Or they thought it would heeeeelarious.

But you don't need to be a subscriber to watch them live. Even the Professional Wednesdays stuff is on the youtube channel.

O that I had no idea lol, I use video buddy to watch the majority of the TNT and UF stuff

edit: wait Professional Wednesday wasn't subscriber content, it falls under Features

I think it has something to do with the cost of hosting a video of its length that generally doesn't generate a ton of views. Somebody gave an explanation about it once and thats what I took from it. I could be crazy and making all this up. I'm not really sure.

Okay that makes sense for their site but what about youtube? I don't think youtube charges for hosting and even if they did, a lot of the stuff on youtube is <10k views.

I don't get why the ability to use the youtube player on the site is a premium feature either.

I believe the Drake tracker is what he's referring to
Drake has a Kickstarter?

I watched for about 15 minutes, they didn't clean anything... maybe I missed it. But if they actually wanted to make something worth watching they could have cleaned up their shit then got to making with the funnies.

There's a difference between slacking off, and live streaming yourself slacking off and calling it content. I like the GB guys, I've been following them from the beginning, but that stream was bad.

Ah come on, they've done some dumb streaming of what they do during office hours waaaaay before this one. Like that one time they signed hundreds of posters, or that buck wild insane acid trip stream (to test the gear for happy hour I believe).

Also it seems like they aren't going to archive it, so it probably wasn't meant to be actual content for the site.

During the stream they specifically said that they were planning to do real streaming content yesterday but someone from corporate saw their work area and forced them to clean instead lol. I actually liked the stream, had it running in the background while I was gaming and it kinda turned into an extended mailbag. Also found out that Drew's been playing COH2 and we'll be getting a QL probably next week

The downfall has begun! They could've got away with being as filthy as they wanted to at the Sausalito house!

RIP Giant Bomb

I think its because TNT is a subscriber only feature

TNT live is a free. Archives of it are also freely available on the GiantBomb Twitch.tv channel.

TNT archives on the GB site are a subscriber feature. Originally it was because they tended to be longer and larger files, and that was to account for the bandwidth. It's just been grandfathered in that way even though QLs often reach the hour mark now.

Catching up to the garbage day stream (honest question, should I bother?), did Brad just eat a year-old chocolate egg? That seems like a real bad idea.
There are a couple funny moments (Patrick's glasses and the heat pads) but at best it's background noise while you do something else.

I just bought a month membership for the first time (wanted to watch the dota 2 TNT). So glad I had my headphones on. That clip of the bombcast crew cheering was almost worth the price of admission by itself. :-)

Doh, guess I could have gone there. Oh well, no regrets! More GB content to play in the background while I work is a good thing.

"Lolis" have been mentioned three times thus far.

Along with Brad having a certificate in sexual harassment. Weird stream.

Giant Bomb relocating to the Gamespot office space to be rebranded as Loli Bomb confirmed. Coverage will initially be limited to Gust titles, but they'll soon expand to playground equipment.

If this is your first time subscribing you should go check out the old Random PC Games. They're some of the best content GB has put out.

This stream is fucking lame.

It's actually upsetting me, and I like never get bothered by anything they do... It really makes it seems like all their hmming and hawing over how they're too busy to put up new content is total bullshit.

I'm paying the sub fee, and what the fuck are they doing all day?

I must admit I feel the same. Kinda giving up on the site now. I'll probably venture back in during E3.

I'm a grown man, and I like dumb stuff, but not at cost of good content. I used to enjoy the Bombcast but since I lead a perfectly interesting life I don't need a substitute source of in jokes and crazy stories. I get that at work, and through spending with friends. On the other hand I would like to hear gaming opinion and news on a podcast from...you know a video game site. Self-indulgent podcasts, and the yesterday's cleaning stream are the beginnings of believing your own hype. This won't change soon as there is a school of younger community members who seem to be in awe of the team further feeding the hubris.

Just my thoughts. No doubt I'll get told how wrong I am, and because Giant Bomb is "different" and character based content doesn't matter :D

Yah the bombcast is not as interesting for me as it was some years back. It's just too much out of the guys life I really have no interest in. I know many enjoy this and there are pretty good stories sometimes, but I am skipping it very often now.

Scoops made a comment on ILM about a new Spookin' With Scoops for Slender: The Arrival tonight. Should be good if it actually goes down tonight.
