Yeah. Good ones too. Super Mario 64 and Super Metroid are current rewards. They expire today. Tempted, but just want Wii U versions.
I've been thinking about picking up Mario 64 recently, but Japan Club Nintendo doesn't offer it :(. I'll probably just wait for the Wii U eShop version.

Also, today I finally became a full member here :). All that's left is my GAF Gold cheque to clear.

I just got Super Mario 64 with some of my club nintendo points. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I really didn't want to get it since I have to bust out that dumb wii remote AND classic controller but I would rather do that than wait an indefinite about of time and spend $10+.

Grats on finally becoming a full member! I hope I'll get there...eventually haha

Why is the camera lens on the gamepad surrounded by a big rectangular bar? Seems like there's just no reason for it to have that? It's not a complaint or anything, just odd.

Oh my god. The gamepad has a sensor bar?!? Holy shit.

So... It's like... a completely standalone Wii/Wii U console?

Edit: Or does it only work on some games?
By standalone... I mean the GamePad can't function without the Wii U, but yes, you can use it instead of the TV in games that support wiimote + off TV play.

Edit: You can't play Wii games on the gamepad though.

Just some games, unfortunately.
I mean, a lot of games have Off-TV Play but only a few allow you to use the gamepad as a "TV" and a secondary input as your controller (Wiimote)

That made me wonder why Nintendo couldn't just send the TV feed to the gamepad with Wii mode and then utilize the gamepad's built in sensor bar. I can't think of any legitimate reason they couldn't do that.

Because then they couldn't spend years rehashing Wii VC onto Wii U and charging for it if Wii mode went to the gamepad.

I think they're paranoid about connecting the easily hackable Wii to the Wii U in any way. Better to keep the Wii mode completely quarantined, or so they think.

Haha, sounds about right.

I don't know, though, because it wouldn't really be doing anything different. It's still going into the Wii mode in the same way, doing everything the same way really. It would just mirror the same feed - that you're always getting - to the gamepad, which is technology that's already built into the system.

I hope they cut the price and do a decent Ambassador program.
Something like Luigi U for free if you registered your Wii U before the cut

Man I love playing SMW on this thing. Seriously I would be thrilled with my Wii U if it was nothing but a pure Nintendo legacy machine. Give me tons of great VC games and the occasional HD new Mario/Zelda/Metroid etc. and I'd be ecstatic.

There's no way they'll do another ambassador program. It cannot become a habit.

In any case you already got awesome VC games for mere cents. Kind of a gift from them already.

Ambassador program worked so well for 3DS I don't see why they wouldn't do it again. They need to apply a $100 price cut in H2, so I'm definitely expecting it.

Can someone tell me why the battery of my GamePad is completely dead when I don't use it for a week or so?

During gameplay sessions and daily use the battery is fine. But as soon as I don't use it regularly, it drains to a level where it cannot turn on at all.

I've read other people that has experienced the same. Perhaps there's some fix for it?

I just leave it plugged in when not in use. Sucks but that's the only solution I know of.

The fix is to use the craddle ;-)

Rhapsody >> Join the Rayman Challenge addiction

I actually forgot about Rayman, haha. I'm going to have to do that then.
we didn't even have Club Nintendo back then ;-;

man, the coins I'd give for a Fire Emblem reward...

I'm hoping they'll do one. I just hope they don't do one just for Platinum members though. I'm 250 coins away from Platinum and decided to just stick with Gold for right now.

Take the battery out?

Hmm, the cradle might be my best option then.

I just don't understand why the battery sucks as keeping charge. My other controllers doesn't drain because they aren't used. I know batteries lose charge over time, but this is way too fast.

The battery drains two ways:

- Switching the console on must also switch the gamepad on, so that's an open bluetooth connection constantly running.
- Also, the ability to use the gamepad as a TV remote without even turning the console on must take some battery too, especially when the micro-OS needed for that pops up instantly on the screen.

Edit: are you by any chance from Madrid? Your nick sounds really familiar from geolocalization apps...

I dont have a clue about when wiiu games will hit Club Nintendo, but they already have a message on the rewards session: "You must have a Wii U, Wii or Nintendo 3DS to redeem. Featured games are also available for standard purchase from the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo eShop."

They're just referring to the Shop Channel within Wii U's Wii mode.

Oh! I didn't know that the console actually turned on the gamepad when booting up. Makes much more sense then.

I'm Danish btw.

So far the game that I've spent the most time with on my Wii U has been Super Mario 64, bought through Club Nintendo coins and played on Wii mode.

Had the time to get the full 120 stars – very sad state of affairs.

I only knew we could save Miis on Wiimotes. What else can be saved?

I recall using it to transfer some sort of save data/controller configs for Brawl and Monster Hunter Tri. Not sure what else it can be used for, but there were at least 5-10 games that had some sort of function besides just Mii transferring.

Leave your phone off for about a week, and most will see the battery drained as well. It's not exclusive to the Gamepad.
