I miss the GC era. I got a Baten Kaitos artbook via Club Nintendo. That was godly.
we didn't even have Club Nintendo back then ;-;
man, the coins I'd give for a Fire Emblem reward...

Yeah. Good ones too. Super Mario 64 and Super Metroid are current rewards. They expire today. Tempted, but just want Wii U versions.

I've been thinking about picking up Mario 64 recently, but Japan Club Nintendo doesn't offer it. I'll probably just wait for the Wii U eShop version.
Also, today I finally became a full member here. All that's left is my GAF Gold cheque to clear.
Grats on finally becoming a full member! I hope I'll get there...eventually haha
Probably want in on the gamepad. Why? You can play them on your Wii U in Wii mode. I heard it's just as good.
Mileena was being sarcastic, and rightfully so.Probably want in on the gamepad.
Why is the camera lens on the gamepad surrounded by a big rectangular bar? Seems like there's just no reason for it to have that? It's not a complaint or anything, just odd.

Do you mean the sensor bar?

Me too.Mileena was being sarcastic, and rightfully so.
By standalone... I mean the GamePad can't function without the Wii U, but yes, you can use it instead of the TV in games that support wiimote + off TV play.Oh my god. The gamepad has a sensor bar?!? Holy shit.
So... It's like... a completely standalone Wii/Wii U console?
Edit: Or does it only work on some games?

Because then they couldn't spend years rehashing Wii VC onto Wii U and charging for it if Wii mode went to the gamepad. That made me wonder why Nintendo couldn't just send the TV feed to the gamepad with Wii mode and then utilize the gamepad's built in sensor bar. I can't think of any legitimate reason they couldn't do that.
I think they're paranoid about connecting the easily hackable Wii to the Wii U in any way. Better to keep the Wii mode completely quarantined, or so they think. That made me wonder why Nintendo couldn't just send the TV feed to the gamepad with Wii mode and then utilize the gamepad's built in sensor bar. Mario maker reportedly looking to smartphone games to help platform return to profitability by offering "professional-use conversion software" to developers.
"...modify the hardware so it can run.."
Already a thread.
EDIT: And technically fairly old news presented in a different way.

I hope they cut the price and do a decent Ambassador program.
Something like Luigi U for free if you registered your Wii U before the cut
Can someone tell me why the battery of my GamePad is completely dead when I don't use it for a week or so?
I just leave it plugged in when not in use. Sucks but that's the only solution I know of.Can someone tell me why the battery of my GamePad is completely dead when I don't use it for a week or so?
During gameplay sessions and daily use the battery is fine. But as soon as I don't use it regularly, it drains to a level where it cannot turn on at all.
I've read other people that has experienced the same. Perhaps there's some fix for it?
The fix is to use the craddle ;-)Can someone tell me why the battery of my GamePad is completely dead when I don't use it for a week or so?

Hmm, the cradle might be my best option then.
I just don't understand why the battery sucks as keeping charge. My other controllers doesn't drain because they aren't used. I know batteries lose charge over time, but this is way too fast.

I dont have a clue about when wiiu games will hit Club Nintendo, but they already have a message on the rewards session: "You must have a Wii U, Wii or Nintendo 3DS to redeem. Featured games are also available for standard purchase from the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo eShop."
They're just referring to the Shop Channel within Wii U's Wii mode.
The battery drains two ways:
- Switching the console on must also switch the gamepad on, so that's an open bluetooth connection constantly running.
- Also, the ability to use the gamepad as a TV remote without even turning the console on must take some battery too, especially when the micro-OS needed for that pops up instantly on the screen.
Edit: are you by any chance from Madrid? Your nick sounds really familiar from geolocalization apps...
Mind blown by the gamepad sensor bar.
Yeah, I thought I had read everything about this system and I had no idea.
This reminds me of when people eventually realized the Wii Remotes have 6 Kb of available memory which can be used to save various data to them.
I only knew we could save Miis on Wiimotes. What else can be saved?
Leave your phone off for about a week, and most will see the battery drained as well. It's not exclusive to the Gamepad. Can someone tell me why the battery of my GamePad is completely dead when I don't use it for a week or so?
