I think the solution to players wanting better pay etc lies in diversification of tournaments, especially into the online sphere. That is for the future though.
He didn't like how he was being called out on the mic in front of everyone for not walking 10 feet.
Flash claimed that the bracket runner made eye contact him, knew he was there but still didn't sign him up. He didn't like how he was being called out on the mic in front of everyone for not walking 10 feet.
It was a trivial matter that was really not handled well on both ends from the sound of it.
Do tell/link?
TotalBiscuit has always been a massive tool. I hate the way he talks, and often times he speaks from ignorance or not knowing something, and not even in a charming way like the GiantBomb guys do.
He's a deeper voiced DSP to me.
Man I am not making this stuff up nor am I defending these guys (lol I really don't care about their tournament problems), I am just said verbatim what those guys said. I am not even on that stream anymore, I am about to play a game of DOTA 2 to take my mind off of "irregardlessly". I only did it because someone requested it in the previous page... better one person watched it then 10 people watching it.Oh man I have heard the eye contact story in many different cases. I remember I had a friend who was a teacher's aid and how one of the scumbag kids went up and just started punching a kid because they thought they made eye contact and looked at him. But you know, the freaking teacher was standing next to the scumbag kid and was actually, you know, paying fucking attention and looking in that direction. I remember other situations where I basically had to cooldown a fight that almost broke out because someone was spacing out in a direction and someone thought he was giving them a nasty look. Eye contact isn't a 100% confirmation and it doesn't always happen just because you think it does.
It is and I agree. The main issue I see with any "FGC needs more money" plans is that those plans are not really FGC plans at all, they are just ways for a couple of guys to get a bit more money (which isn't a bad thing of course, but isn't really going to lead anywhere).
Besides the passage of time (for things to grow) what is holding everything back is the games themselves. The only way anything is going to happen is if games are created that support the online environment and business models that the FGC actually needs. It doesn't have to be Dota, but it needs to be Dotaesq in my opinion. Maybe these games will come next gen, maybe they will not.
In my opinion, top players lobbying capcom or Namco now, or getting together with people like the Skullgirls mob to kickstart something designed specifically for the FGC would be a better use of time. If there is one thing we have learnt over the past 6 months, it is that the wider FGC has money and is willing to throw it at a quality cause.
I see this effort as more fruitful than creating youtube videos or paid downloads to scratch together a couple of bucks. Because with that, the available time will always be a limiting factor, and real life will always win in the end.

I dig.I can't find the video, but it involved Pok Chop talking trash to Gootecks in a pools match asking "Don't you know who I am?" and Gootecks responding "No, I never heard of Pok Chop." It was funny the way Gootecks told it.
It would be difficult or even impossible to create something that focused on the online environment given how bad the Internet in western countries are compared to Asia. Lobbying developers won't do anything.
LOL so how is Capcom going to make money next gen.... Resident Evil and Monster Hunter only?We don't even know if there is going to be a nex gen fighting game right now.
You mean the people who are about to develop for a cloud backed, online only console?
Online play for fighting games is perfectly viable already...and games are not even generally designed around it. I don't buy that it would be too hard at all and think the time to start planning is now.

oh youMaybe if fighting games were less anime they would be esports big
This is like a discovery channel special.
It's an excellent tool to have. I've heard several cases of people literally turning down the PS3 version at locals, but a computer ought to be universal. It's a good way to get people from both sides of the aisle invested at venues. What arcade stick doesn't work on laptops? The PC version and Squiggly beta, though I am unsure if Evo will allow that.
That said, SG being on PC and stll having work done on it puts it in a good position to survive this gen, though it will end up being run on PCs like how Melty is.
I think in 2-3 years majors will need some laptops to run a few games.
I've been messing around with Anji and he dope as hell. His combos get some great screen carry without much effort. What bugs me is his FRCs. Regular red cancels cost more meter, but they give me far friendlier combos compared to Baiken's FRC stuff.Nobody, game's too complicated right now v_v
Interested in Anji, Ky, and Baiken though.
I love me some Bacon. If you stream a Bacon run through I would watch it. She's pretty easy to manage meter with because I honestly just use it for FRCs and more FRCs. Sometimes her forcebreak but most of the time it's just a lot more FRCs.
Daisuke should be doing the character artwork for GG Xrd...
Baiken is GG's best lady. I'm having a lot of fun experimenting with her counters and Tatami FRCs. I got no clue how people keep pulling off dust FRC combos in AC+. They're stupid hard compared to her dust combos in #Reload.Baiken always with the spread legs.
Yeah, this was a fantastic write-up. If top players can figure out how to better market themselves they don't have to hope for a knight in shining armor who'll drop a couple mil in their laps.
SeriouslyThread title is waaaaaaay too relevant with certain internet rumblings today.
Anything but that...Skullgirls or ASW. Your choice.
edit: Third option: Games Blanka should be added to.![]()
omg
Don't worry, the cloud's still too busy reticulating splines!I don't really want the cloud to calculate my hitboxes, thank you very much.
I dig.

Thank you, bookmarked for now. Here's a bit of the video.

Damn straight. The guys running the pools are too busy to babysit the players.

I think that's presumptuous. We've seen Deep Down previewed, and E3 is almost here.I don't think even Capcom knows the answer to that.

My guess is that theyre gonna wait a year or so before SFV (Or Alpha IV or whatever).Oh shit, I remember this.
edit: Also, there's no way Capcom doesn't release AT THE LEAST a new Street Fighter for PS4/One. The IP is too well known not to. It'd be the definition of leaving money on the table.
toddhunter said:The point is where is the FGC sitting down and saying, this is the game we want, these are the features we need, somebody build it or we'll try to get something funded?
The SFV situation is weird. Ono says that they haven't even started talking about it, and they're making an update that just started recently. Yet the generation is about to come to a close. It makes me wonder if Capcom has any fighting games in the works for the next gen right now.Oh shit, I remember this.

Fantastic write-up. Probably won't be acknowledged by the people who need to do so, but it's fantastic.
Definite good point. I like the part about the whole "offer private lessons, paid tutorials", because, I feel like that is something that could potentially work out well, as well as helping bring more people into the scene when they see how helpful people are to give advice and help people train. Just my two cents on that little bit, really.
Nobody, game's too complicated right now v_v

And in any case, assuming that someone knows who you are and should mark you down as having checked in just because they make eye contact with you is near the very height of narcissism.Yea I believe you 100%, I'm just pointing out that Flash has a problem with the 100% eye contact confirmation thing because I know first hand that people fuck that up.
First gen ps3 mcz fight sticks had some issues with nvidia chipsets iirc but that was a while ago. It's an excellent tool to have. What you're saying is that the games themselves will probably benefit if players were a lot less Fanatiq and a lot more Peter Rosas & Seth Killian?
From what I can tell Capcom games do have some stat tracking for their online games. They put out statistics for character usage online plus win ratios for Vanilla Marvel once.

Considering a big part of Evo is international competition, there have been a bunch of Evos where the "best" haven't been there. Think of all the Japanese talent that stays at home for every Street Fighter event. The only difference is that you know who ChrisG is because of the weekly team spooky streams. You don't know who MadKOF or Fuudo is until the tournament happens.

Whether a console is cloud based or not doesn't change the fact that the internet is limited here. Sure, online play is probably viable in Japan or Hong Kong but definitely not in North America. Without a doubt, lag will be present if you notice it or not. Cable companies have so much power and so little competition that no amount of planning or lobbying will do anything in the near future.
Poor MODOK. Lower than both of the DLC characters that most people didn't even buy.
