I plan on doing a diet that simply involves not eating.

I thought I had read somewhere that eating less than 1000 calories day long-term would cause your hair to slowly fall out, but that may be a complete load of crap that I dreamed up once.

Regardless, this doesn't sound like a good idea, although you said that yourself in the OT. I don't know what to say other than good luck I guess.

Atkins. If you have never done it before and you are obese, your fat loss will be staggering. Eventually, you will tire of steaks, bacon and cream, but you will have lost a lot of weight. Perhaps by then you will be able to incorporate exercise into your lifestyle.

I suggest you try a diet that, you know, doesn't kill you at the end of the day?
Seriously though, OP. Do you think nobody has tried this before. Have you heard of a single success story of this diet working? Google the results, you won't like the outcome. There are people smarter than you and paid more than you who come up with better dieting methods, do some research and use something that will get you results without putting you 12 feet underground.

That's kinda low

Like borderline starvation low

Not good for the long run either

I say 2000
Are you sure? If we go by the recommended daily intake you see on food packaging, 2000 is an average woman's and 2500 for men. 1500 isn't that low. 500 is that low.

Breakfast: Oates in skim milk
Morning Tea: Banana
Lunch: Tuna and a protein shake
Afternoon Tea: Apple
Dinner: Poached Chicken and Broccoli
Plenty of water.

It's not hard ffs. None of that above is any effort at all for lazy people like me.

I only eat once a day too bro, don't listen to the haters. But I eat between 2500 and 3000 calories in 1 sitting after my workout so try doing that.

Going to try to lose weight, but still drink sodas. Sounds like a great plan. Good luck.

And you will pig the fuck out if you even think of trying this. You'll make it through the first two meals of the day, and by the time dinner rolls around you'll eat until you're miserable.

I personally prefer the 12-14x your bodyweight way for maintaining current weight and 10-12x your body weight for losing weight

I'm sure a malnourished smoker won't get any loose skin from sudden weight loss. Because smoking boosts collagen production and elasticity like nothing else.

You need nutrients to grow hair.

220 lb currently? How tall are you? 220 would be more healthy for me (I'm 6"1). I'm currently 230 and on my way to 220 and below.

No idea on the hail part, but I heard this too, that it is generally bad for you to go below 1000 often.

I currently do about 1600. (more if I work out, obviously). My trick to to find meals that are both good and little in calories (like lunchables)

This is a stupid idea, sorry OP :p
Especially as you're still considering foods that are indulgent, like sandwhiches and soda (wtf?).

IF you're going to something like this, I suggest you follow a basic diet consisting entirely of protein and fat. With a lot of water for fluids, nothing else.

If you're vegetarian, that means milk, egg, cheese, and protein powder - that's all you're allowed to eat.
If you're an omnivore, that means any non-processed meat and the above.

You probably shouldn't eat less than 1,200 calories a day.

Well more healthy yes but it still has you at a 29 BMI. Just one point away from obese.

I've had borderline eating disorders before.

I will tell you right now, if you drink a few cans of soda a day, and eat nothing, for an entire week, you won't lose any weight at all.

I go through periods of not eating for several days. I gain weight instead of lose it.

So...yeah, not going to work op. The only thing you are doing to do is make yourself miserable and unhealthy and exhausted.

Err, wouldn't that deprive him/her from nutrients found in vegetables and fruit?

If you're actually serious about losing weight you would not drink Coke at all.

This is absolutely my favorite thing about this thread. No food, but soda? This is the equivalent of cutting down a forest to prevent a wildfire while carrying a running flamethrower.

Don't do this, can't be good for your body.

Also, why do you have a habit of making threads and never coming back to them?

1500 is low. That's the calorie intake level they used for Minnesota Starvation Experiment. Granted, that was for a long period of time - but the diet really fucked up alot of the participants.

But 1500 calories makes sense if you are actively trying to lose weight - it's just not effective for living.

Sounds pretty reasonable IMO

Just like every single person who talks about weight loss, it's all bro-science. Everybody says something different, and nobody is necessarily more right than anybody else.

So, I say this: Go consult a doctor and tell him what you are going to do. See what he says. Insist you are going to try it, and ask him to tell you what signs to watch out for. I get the feeling you are going to do it regardless, so at least try to be vigilant about it. There was a Reddit thread about a man who weighted 400 pound who didn't eat a meal for a year and survived. Lost 265 pounds. Probably had health problems later, but he did indeed survive.

Unless you are American, then you likely can't afford to visit a doctor... so if you are American, don't do it.

How stupid.

If you're serious about losing weight and living a better lifestyle, literally anything is better than not eating.

Yeah.

Here's the actual fastest way to lose fat without dying:

1. Diet:

You are eating protein, leafy greens, omega 3 fat and nothing else (with calories in it). example meal day:

1. Baked chicken breast slathered in dijon, mixed salad (no carrots, peppers or nuts/fruit), no dressing.
2. Protein shake in water (isolate, no carbs)
3. Omega 3 oil capsules
4. Multivitamin

That's it for the day.

2. Exercise:

To keep your extreme deficit from making all your muscle disappear, you need to lift weights. No cardio required here, you're eating 500-800 calories a day here! Example (2x a week, monday-friday):

Day A:

Squats, Bench, Deadlift (low volume, high intensity)

Day B:

Squats, Overhead Press, Chinup (same)

Ta-da. You can lose half a pound of fat or more a day, but your metabolism will FRY and you'll feel like crap. Getting off this diet involves a slow reintroduction of calories and food. I wouldn't stay on it for more than a couple of weeks.

PS: i recommend this for no one. It's overkill, and there are safer, healthier and less unpleasant ways to lose fat.

Before I start, yes it's a bad idea. I get that.

I currently weigh 220lbs. The easiest and best way for my to lose this weight would be simply to diet and exercise. I'm not doing that. I'm going to simply stop eating.

Most days I will not eat but in order to stay alive, some food needs to be consumed. These will be limited to items such as sandwiches or cereal and only once a day at maximum. Liquids and any drinks have no effect on this test. I will still drink tea and will still occasionally buy a can of Coke or similar.

Other notes:

  • I do smoke
  • I do work full time
  • I can't cook but do eat a worrying amount of take-away.

I also started a blog, just to get my progress down on paper. I also honestly believe no one will care but it's more fun with people pretending they're interested. :)

trying to live up to your username, are you?

Add more vegetables, fruit and some grains. Too bad grains have been demonized recently.

Keep your calories in check and you shouldn't have a any problems.

And again, see a dietitian.

Why are you arbitrary leaving out nuts and carrots and other fruits? Carbs are pretty beneficial too.
With a healthy varied diet you do not need to use a supplements.

Dead

well not really...yet
OP

How about every time you feel hungry, you simply smoke a cigarette to substitute for food

Like, don't eat anything, just smoke

I think that would be more effective

no?

I mean, might as well go all the way, rather than this halfbaked idea you cooked up.

Not eating or eating on a starvation diet is the worst thing you can do. Speaking as someone who lost extreme amounts of weight over a 14 month period on 1000 calories or so a day it simply did more harm than good. I looked and felt very ill and I also gained about 80% of that weight back in less than 2 years. Moderation is key. Try eating about 1500 calories a day for an extended period of time. Up to two pounds a week will come off even with moderate activity. That quickly adds up.

Stopping smoking and stopping eating so much take out will be infinity better for you than pure starvation. You should look up what your body will do if you stop giving it a constant stream of calories.

Not being able to cook is bullshit. You have access to the internet and can probably follow simple directions so you can make all kinds of stuff. My wife has learned to cook all kinds of delicious stuff just from the internet.

Here's a really easy one:

1. Buy some raw chicken breast and various vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots.
2. Chop up said meat and veggies into bite sized chunks.
3. Put everything into a skillet with some olive oil and whatever spices you like.
4. Fry over heat until the chicken is fully cooked. Stir frequently.
5. Eat that shit!

Congratulations, you have just cooked and consumed a healthy meal you made yourself.
