i played bf3 on ps3, looking forward to BF4 on next gen, especially more players and bigger maps where you don´t go minutes without seeing anyone.

btw, if you look at Alan Kertz´s (BF4 Lead Core gameplay designer) recent reddit posts (http://www.reddit.com/user/Demize99), there´s some interesting hints about stuff that may make it into BF4 (FOV change options, revamped squad perks, Barrett M82).

64 players on consoles?? Am I reading that right?

If you've never experienced a 64 player battle in a game, or played BF3 on PC, it is fucking WAR, son.

Interesting. 64 players XO and 32 players PS4?

I reckon Microsoft/EA will claim that it's all thanks to the power of the Cloud, when really it's just the age old advantages of dedicated servers.

This is all hypothetical of course.
Because consoles and I'm a pessimist.

I guess PC gamers never experienced a 256 player online console game before... oh wait.

As for the 360, I think MoH: Frontlines had 50 players.

I think there was also Xbox original military shooter that had 64 players online, it got trashed by reviewers & I am having a hard time finding the name of it.

Battlefield isn't 64 or even 32 player on consoles because Dice isn't talented enough to work it out when they are doing multi-platform releases.

After playing Planetside 2, Battlefield's 64 player maps feel tiny and the fights insignificant. I'm actually hoping they push the player numbers seeing several PC mods for Battlefield 2 have 128 players.

Ehh. I like PS2, but the combat doesn't hold up to the the crazy firefights you can get into in Battlefield.

Even in Bad Company 2, which had a much smaller player cap on PC, shit was way more tense just due to the amount of destruction you can have on the map. That house wont protect you from that tank.

Hold on, I just read through the last page, people need to cool it with the insane MS/EA partnership talk. Yes EA came out on stage at MS and not Sony's press conference, but that was to talk about sports, not Battlefield or anything else.

While there are rumors that this partnership involves more than just sports, it doesn't mean much for Battlefield. The people saying things like the XO version will have more players or will be vastly superior or things of that nature, no, absolutely not. Maybe it will have exclusive camos or early DLC, but there is no way the versions will differ in player count, FPS, anything like that.

My predicitions for BF4 at E3:

-Amazingly edited MP trailer AND a live stage demo at the EA press conference, similar to the MoH 2010 E3 presentation. (this was previously confirmed)

-64 players absolutely confirmed for next gen

-If they talk specs, it will be 1080p/30fps, 60 would he a nice surprise

-Map on the floor will probably be mostly infantry/urban focused so it is easily accessible for show goers.

-Behind closed doors presentation for the press will show off a different map. Large, lots of vehicle combat, and a perfect place to show off the new, improved, and streamlined Commander mode.

-Beta in September, like that poster suggested

-BF4 will be there day 1 on both next gen systems

I know most of these are gimmies, but I'm very interested to see what it is that they've chosen to show behind closed doors.

On my phone right now so can't watch the video, but do they really say ps4 is only getting 32 players and x1 64?

No, he doesn't say anything about player count on the PS4 or Xbox One. All he says about them is that the visuals in Fishing in Baku gameplay is what they're aiming for with those consoles.

Was I watching the same footage as everyone else. I was watching it with my jaw on the floor the whole time. To me that completely went poop all over Killzone!

I have a feeling that the beta will start this month.
No way in hell. DICE and EA's definition of a beta is so incredibly skewed. They are glorified demos to them, used as a way to market your game soon before it's released. I'd be shocked if the Beta came out before September.

Hmm, hard to say how I feel about this. Looks good, but I'm more looking for multiplayer. Not sure why EA feels the need to push the single player ahead of the multiplayer.

That seems like a hard thing to aim for if the gameplay there was actually running at 3k resolution tho :/

This isn't really true. Both the BF3 and BC2 betas were actually quite clearly betas. BF3 beta was plagued with bugs and performance problems, and the BC2 beta was very unoptimized.

I want to max this game out on my new gaming rig that i'm building. 1080p/60fps on ultra. My wallet is going to have a tough time ahead!

So I watched the gameplay in the OP again. Still pretty damn good. I just hope DICE can put together a compelling campaign like the Bad Company games. Anything has to be better than BF3's

I just didn't get where this came form

Because Microsoft are eluding to XO games having dedicated servers, and have mentioned bigger game world's etc. We know this as PR fluff, but my assumption was it'd be bigger maps and more players for online games due to dedicated servers. Not saying it is the case, just throwing a guess out there.

But BF3 on PS3/360 already uses dedicated servers...

When you find a server where everything is legit, it's beautiful, fun chaos.

Awesome. This is my favorite level on PS3.

It's amazingly frustrating LOL

Still very good. A perfectly chaotic tug-of-war for Rush and Conquest.

Looking forward to BF4 Metro (if it ever comes out). I want to play that level and many other levels on PS4 (better framerate and graphics). I hardly ever play any of the other levels on PS3 because they just do not run very well on it. Hopefully PS4 fixes all of that for me. ^_^

The BC2 beta on PS3 (Nov 2009, Arica Harbour) was quite polished despite being a fair way out from release (more than 3 months).

The BF3 beta on PS3 on the other hand was the buggiest code I ever saw on that console. It was horrendous. There were people falling through the map all over the place, crazy animation bugs and graphical glitches everywhere you looked, camera failures, etc. The scariest part was that it was put out only four weeks prior to launch.

The tearing was the worst I've ever seen too. Turn your head and the screen would separate in five different places. It gave me headaches.

I hope the opposite. I hope they don't bring back the disease that Metro was. Nothing but full of grenade, rpg, and c4 spammers all trying to get to 100 colonel in an enclosed map that should be ashamed to be called a Battlefield map.

people stats padded on that map though. That's why it was liked.

the DLC maps were much better than vanilla, sadly people doesnt seem to be talking about them.

It's not going away, it's become a staple of the franchise for better or worse.

If so, then the next Battlefield will have less destruction, smaller tunnels, and limited flanking options.

I rather hope that DICE goes back to their roots than create small meat-grinders and staple them as a Battlefield map.

It's one popular map, not the base of the franchise.
