While I'm still undecided which next-gen console I'll be going for (can't see the gf ever letting me get both, haha) I'm excited for this conference. Most of all, I want to see what 3rd party exclusives MS has moneyhatted. While it seemed during this gen that 3rd party exclusives are dying out, the existence of some at MS's conference is the only logical explanation for their confidence. Why else would we get comments about how great their E3 is going to be, or how they will kill Sony? No matter how good they think their own 1st party offerings are, they know Sony will have something to. However in the case of 3rd party exclusives, they know 100% that 'this is something those other guys don't have'. To be honest though, if it is just Dead Rising 3/ Mirror's Edge 2 I won't really give a shit. If it's Beyond Good and Evil 2 though...

There's a lot that could go wrong at either of the titanic conferences. But I'm optimistic and hugely hyped for both mainly because the absolute minimum is still going to provide numerous reasons to be excited.

I don't buy into the infinite power of the cloud, but I do buy into enhanced multiplayer thanks to the cloud, I hope they highlight that.

I'm not disheartened or even particularly bothered by any of the DRM or second hand policy stuff, but I was disheartened by rumours of downclocking the hardware, so I really want to see reassuringly hot graphics from Microsoft.

I was a huge fan of most of Rare's games on the 360, I hope they get the recognition they deserve on the XBone.

Someone, anyone, please show me some next-gen destruction, a la Red Faction: Guerrilla.

I'm in cruise control right now.

Watching nba finals. Chilling with an adult beverage. Laptop on lap and daydreaming of all the stuff from both MS and Sony pressers tomorrow. When you're buying everything, you don't have to worry about who get's what. You just get to sit back and enjoy everything (including the meltdowns).

I was here for FFXIII and the Dragon Quest 9 meltdowns. Tomorrow should be glorious!

this has likely been asked countless times already within the last few pages, but link to a spoiler free E3 thread (mainly for the press conferences)?

Even after they explain that little motto of theirs, it's still going to be stupid. They're screwing up so much people are going to start mistaking them for Sony.

They can fix it all by showing Crackdown 3.

Is that really so strange?

I love what they're doing with the HDMI pass-through. I no longer have to switch back and forth between Comcast and Xbox inputs on my TV. It's not that it's trying to be a receiver or cable box, you'll of course still have those. It's just that with the One it's the only input you'll need to use on your TV since it brings all of that into one box.

Yeah enjoy watching TV content with your TV set to game mode.

Besides there are AV receivers for that "all in one input" stuff.

What kills me about the online requirement is that they could pretty easily get rid of it entirely and have the conumer have more responsibility in regards to still allowing trade ins. If they want an all digital conole with the worlds current infrastructure they should be more open with their thinking.

What they should have done seems obvious to me. In order to allow trade ins while still limiting ownership they could have the one time access system they plan to have to link a game to your account, which would require a connection at time of installation or download. This would be the only time you would NEED a connection at all. Now assume that all other policies not related to the internet are the same, so that there would be a limit of one private sale between "friends" which would then also require the internet to exchange licenses. Trading in would easily be allowed as well, instead of having the participating trade partner being the party responsible for deactivating a license leave the deactivation up to the consumer. The retailer would still need whatever system Microsoft is providing to verify that the license has been removed from the exiting account.

With the above policy Microsoft would not have to force a 24 hour online requirment at all. If someone wants to trade in a game how hard would it be for them to go to their account and simply deactivate it? It seems to be backward thinking of them. I have a stable internet connection and don't trade or buy used too often, but the fact that if something were to happen to my connection for any reason I would be stuck with a TV/DVD/BRD doorstop with an account that is able to play games I can't access. That sucks and it is a shame because Microsoft could pretty easily make the system more palatable.

And keep Licensing the same as it is for the 360 with any gme downloaded from the marketplace. If I download GeoWars2 on my console at home I have to be online, obviously. The game license is attached to my console and my account. When I go to a friends house I can log into my account and download GeoWars2 and play as long as I am signed into live. Once I leave his account doesn't have access to the game even though it is on his hard drive. If the internet goes out, even if I am signed into my account and have already downloaded the game we can't access it because the hardware license isn't the same as what is on my account.
The lisencing is a simple If/Then equation:
If I am on my account, on the hardware I downloaded the game on; Then I can play on or offline.
If I am on my account, on different hardware than I downloaded a game on; Then I mut be online to play it.

TL;DR
-Get rid of 24hr net requirement
-Require the consumer to deactivate games from account to allow trade in
-Retail partner only has to verify game has been deactivated to take trade of disc
-Keep the 360 licensing policies for on and offline play
-Keep all other policies
-Use lubrication when taking advantage of customers

Without the 24hr requirement, how does an offline console know to revoke your license to a game in the transfer / used resale situation?

Here's a franchise that gets zero attention, (perhaps deserved ....)

Lips! I wonder if with Kinect the need for microphones is removed.

This would be a popular game to use the 'share' feature with as well I imagine, could cultivate a good community.

I expect their Karaoke service to be onXbox One

You think you'll be able to rent an Xbox one?

I doubt it very much, console rent days are over :/ I'd need to borrow a pals X-One and Wii U to play those 2 games. I spose I'd throw them some coin and buy em lunch / dinner a few times.

I don't have any other interest in the Wii U and the Xbox One - only Jade Empire and Forza 5 would do it for me.

They did have that XBLA version that vanished (or turned into the Karaoke app). If it did well for them I'd expect to see some version of it on the new xbox.
