That was one of my favourite announcements yesterday. The PS4 version will be my first MMO ever lol...really looking forward to try this.

Edit: Oh shit i was confused this thread is about Versus!Well that was also one of my favourite announcements yesterday.Glad they ditched the XIII from the title.:)

Are KH3 and XV both exclusive to PS4 too? The phrasing in the tweet makes it seem that only XIV is. And is XV confirmed to be open world as shown in the old Versus trailers?

Now it's a mainline title, I expected it to be multiplatform. I was more surprised at Dead Rising 3 being Xbone exclusive. I know the first game was 360-only (kind of) but I thought Capcom had decided to go multiplatform all the way sometime last gen.

This is all true, but with Dead Rising 3 there is one catch: Capcom is not publishing it, Microsoft is.

Feeling very excited for Versus- such an unusual angle for a FF game to take with its more action orientated approach, and most importantly the story doesn't look like a teenage drama ala FF13. I hope the open world approach remains- and given it's on PS4, thats not an unlikely prospect.

That million was pure profit because MS funded the port. Do you think they would do it again now that Japan has sunk into irrelevancy?

Plus his logic doesnt work because it would be the XBone that would be a platform not 360 install base (which is 0 one X1)

The public thinks this is exclusive for the most part

maybe they are finalizing it and possibly be known at TGS.

yup. But at this point it seems to be PS4 only

This is the game that will make the playstation return to its glory days. They should have revealed the release date though out of respect for the scandal they pulled.

This looks so incredible and inspired. I've been wanting to see/hear more of this game since its early "Versus" days. I nearly lost it at that dinner table scene with young Noctis. "Ah, but you mustn't say so, lest the cook be sent away." LOVE that line. Game looks and sounds more classy than any previous entry. Getting very, very minor Vagrant Story-levels of seriousness here. I sort of want Alexander O Smith to translate the game.

Gameplay looks pretty wild during those set piece events. I'm sure there will be plenty of grounded combat as well. Too early still (lol) to comment on stuff like battle system/mechanics, etc. I'm just stocked that we're finally getting a mainline FF title with an actually cool-looking/more mature cast of characters.

looks really good, hopefully this can recapture some of the magic i felt was lost with 12 & 13.

I don't understand why people are so obsessed with the exclusive thing, 80% of the fanbase will buy this for PS4, like MGSV. This will probably only exclusive in Japan.

because they're fanboy manchildren?

The game looks amazing but I have been skipping FF since after FFX. When they decide to bring it back to Classic RPG, till then I will get back to it.

Reminded me of the flashback cutscene in Shenmue where child Ryo is getting sagely advice from his father about why he should make the effort to eat his vegetables.

They're covering thier bases. Despite all the doom and gloom the next Xbox is still going to sell well, and Square Enix can't afford to turn thier backs on that.

The last FF I played was FFXII. I skipped the series this gen because frankly it didn't seem interesting to me, but I always like the concept of Versus XIII so...

Faith restored, I'll be there day 0.

I hope so, itll really help the PS4 take off. FFXIII was crucial for PS3 in Japan but it came way too late.
What difference would it possibly make? If there was a PS4 version, and an XBO version in Japan, the PS4 version would outsell it massively. Being exclusive wouldn't make any notable difference I'd imagine.
you mean like FFXV.mp4.exe? because that's what the link is hosting
Downloaded it, it's the video file for me, no idea what's going on with that.

Part of the FF series is making a total commitment to the console, and being rewarded for that commitment with a barrage of emotions, feelings, and sensations that only a game carefully crafted in a symbiotic relationship with a single console could provide. Square has violated our trust, and this bond, it's never going to be the same again.

Graphically it looks good and full of action. But I mean... nothing about it made it look like an RPG at all. Not really interested.
There's HP, so obviously it'll have exp as well as leveling up. Just because they haven't gone into detail with all the different mechanics doesn't mean there is none. It's an action RPG, a highly polished, fast-paced & cinematic action RPG, but an action RPG still. With SQEX recent track record with action RPGs, I'm not withholding my hype.

When they approached Sony after the FFXIV 360 fiasco (MS apparently wanted a cut from the monthly fee and gold online only), Sony requested total exclusivity for the game (in exchange for helping for server costs) and they still wouldn't say yes.

My guess is they are waiting to see what is going to happen to XBone and Wii U, but they have nothing set in stone. If PS4 succeeds the way PS2 did albeit in a smaller way, nothing is gonna happen.

You mean FFXI?

Since both of the next consoles are fairly similar, there is really no more need for compromise as there were in the days of exclusives.

Especially since it will likely feel like an inbetween generation game and not full next-gen game.

I just wanted the fucking game to come out at all.

I think we will get this Q4 2014 - Q1 2015......... Still a long time ahead of us :(

But again we have been waiting for 7 years now, what less than 2 more years will do harm?
