Final Fantasy XV Announced for PS4

Guessing I'm eating more crow, rewatched the conference and he said Final Fantasy 14 was coming to PS3(4) not 15, oh well. I sure hope this and KH 3 gets released on PS3 as well. The install base is astronomical huge. If just PS4, sounds like a lot of wasted sells. I understand they need games to sell the PS4, but if you remember FF 15 was once a PS3 game and announced as such.

Does anyone feel Déjà vu with this? It was announced around the PS3 launch, now its back again being announced at the PS4 launch.
 
Imagine if this game ends something like Romeo and Juliet but instead the final boss is Stella and Noctis has to kill her and you get romantic flashbacks during the battle and in Noctis commits suicide.
 
- Very interesting setting (present day like megacity surrounded by more fantastical ones)
- Scenarios that makes your imagination soar
- Non-cringeworthy character design, composed by actual men and adults (mostly). Also: Beards! Non-generic females! Yay!
- Huge cities with complex maps a la architectonical blueprints omg YESH
- Seamless integration between narrative sequences and battles
- Real time-esque combat system, but with a hint of strategy behind them (people already spotted menus with different weapons and magics). If they go trought the action rpg route, I hope for a huge, expansive and deep system of strategic customization prior to battles

Yes, I am excited for a mainline ff yet again. I cannot believe that I am actually saying this.

Versus actually started concept development as a PS2 game but got pushed to PS3 because of hardware limitations.

That's how ambitious Nomura is with this project. It's missed two entire generations.

Yep. The revenge-reborn games is seemingly a theme among japanese developers as of recently, especially with Square and Kojima Productions.

-MGS: Rising turns to Metal Gear: Rising Revengeance

-Final Fantasy XIV becomes A Realm Reborn

-Final Fantasy Versus becomes XV altogether
 
I'm not sold on the gameplay (really hate real-time games like Kingdom Hearts/Crisis Core) but gosh that was pretty. The story stuff and characters and music were all awesome though.

Probably a joke, but it's about Noctis and his pals. In real life a guy tends to have....guy pals. Not always, but probably. Anyone who has a major issue with that needs to lighten up. Not everyone is deliberately sexist/racist or what have you. Just sit back and enjoy the game.
 
I'm actually hyped for this game for a change.

I had zero interest in Versus before this e3. Now it actually looks really good! Actual game play innovation to the FF franchise.

Difference being, it was revealed on PS3 with a CG trailer and no game behind the concept.
It's quite clear from this trailer the game is a lot further along.

Imagine playing this on the Xbone, and you lost your internet connection that day. You're really close to to the most important scene in the ending, but you're only a few minutes away from the next check-in.

What's really surprising as a whole is that the Japanese games looked amazing. This last HD generation they really didn't do well.

Ironically, it will probably be more appealing to female gamers than most games.

I've heard that some women actually find men attractive.

youre going to have to wait until either square puts it up or when PSN store updates or next week. i'm waiting for the trailer to go up on their pr site so we can get some uncompressed goodness.

EDIT : we need a thread with a list of what next gen titles are coming to pc, it's hella confusing times right now.
 
There is only one way to save FFXV; it MUST pull a MGS2. In the game, Noctis gets killed in the first 2 hours and Stella takes over as protagonist. Do it, Nomura; it's your chance to make a difference.

I still can't see the last minute from the video on YouTube, it just keeps buffering and freezing,..... weird...


YouTube lists the game as PS4/XBone, is this correct? It's Multiplat now? Same for KH3?

wow so after rehashing ff13 all this gen they couldn't even come up with a new ff in all that time and just used verses 13 :/ square is really starting to blow the amount of time this game has had and it probably still won't turn out good
 
after watching XV trailer few times, I went back and watched versus trailer from 2011. And it looks so bad (the gameplay part) compared to XV trailer.

why would they spend millions on a game that frankly you didnt play (so its new) to scrap it and waste more money on a whole new game? This was the best choice. All that money being poured into this and it being treated like a spin off when it was a mainline title was not happening
 
I love the setting. Modern fantasy has always been the best setting for games. It works well in Persona, so I hope it works well for this. And for those worried that it might be linear, watch the trailer again and look at the maps. They are pretty big.

Yeah, it was obvious to me that the 2011 trailer was the first build of the battle system and whatnot - the animation was nice but nothing connected at all. It's amazing to see how far it's come.
 
only watched the XV trailer once, on a sub-HD stream, so I hope to sweet baby Jesus they drop the trailer on PSN today.

I lost my shit when I saw the battle with huge Leviathan.
