Game looks great graphically, I'm pleased with that part. Wish it at least had night racing though.
Just watched it. Very good, Dan is great at these.
200-300 'canon' cars mentioned as 'must-haves' in racing games, plus open wheelers (hints at roster number?)
Mascot forgot this part, 25 minutes in
I'll patch it in
Brian (who had been watching the screen with an increasingly worried face)
"ahem, ok, so let's answer some of the questions from the community...aaaandd..."
- OMG OMG IT'S COMING, IT'S COMING
- NIGHT WEATHER!
- RALLY RAIN DARK HEADLIGHTS SQUIRRELS !
- and customiz...ah, well, nevermind WEATHER WEATHER NIGHT WEATHER !
- SNOW HURRICANES
"...so the community wants to know about the customization options !"

Until Brian couldn't keep ignoring the questions and reluctantly asked..
Porsche apparently confirmed out with no plans to add them according to fm.net forums.
"Unprecedented Partnership"
Link.
I'm so tired of Porsche. They obviously see no value in games other than to collect a check. It's such a wasted opportunity for them.
That would be unforgiveable.Did they really halve the number to allow me to open the damn doors ?
Porsche isn't at fault...
So..
No night
No weather
300-ish cars
No Fanatec wheel support
No Auction House
No Storefront
No Porsche
No offroad
No tyre sidewall markings
I wonder what other good news is in store..
It's their brand, of course they're at fault. EA not sharing is just a side story.
This reminds me of the MS saga. Negatives after negatives.
It's not shocking really. Forza 2 was basically Forza 1 HD.
MS obviously rushed them to get it finished for the release of the console. Which is a shame. Should have given them another year.
EA has complete control over the Porsche license in videogames.
What I'm saying is Porsche should be dissatisfied with their arrangement with EA. It's not in their best interest to be excluded from the biggest racing games in the world, and just about every other lesser one as well. It's not beneficial to the Porsche brand, and I wish they'd realise this.
Forza 5 hasn't shown any big new feature so far IMO.
Forza 2 was delayed for a year (seemed like MS believed it needed one year), but gave us new physics (for reals), 100 more cars, painting with ten times more layers, proper performance ratings, engine swaps and 60FPS. Could be much more as I never played Forza 1.

They can be dissatisfied all they like (Protip: They are), EA has control.
Sure, but saying it was just Forza 1 HD is flat-out ignorant.Fm2 also removed
long p2p tracks
night racing (fm1 had it)
Stuff like paint staying on guardrails after a crash, debris staying on the road etc.
Few more things.
Number of cars don't dictate the longevity of a game, not by a long shot.I hope they carry over more than 300 car models, otherwise it would be a huge waste of resources and a serious hit to the games longevity.
I missed the part of the Gamespot stage demo where Dan was briefly talking tracks, and Turn 10's new <6mm laser-scanner, noting that they've recaptured existing tracks, as well as scanning new ones.
This is a huge development for the series, and it's borderline criminal Turn 10 hasn't been talking it up more. Earlier, I was skeptical that they'd go back and rescan the older GPS-sourced tracks, despite SatansReverence's valiant efforts to convince me otherwise. I stand corrected, SR; from the sound of things, you seem to have been right.

You just have to keep digging that knife in, don't you?p.s. Doesn't Prague have a certain PGR vibe to it?lol

I'm still confident
This a game seller to me, and ultimately probably a system seller.
So, Jalopnik played some FM5 and posted this shot of some of the career mode (?) racing leagues:

That kinda looks like Spa.
Wait..........that really looks like Spa.
I'm pretty sure thats SPA.
THATS SPA.
THAT IS FREAKIN SPA.
You are doing this thing that the Internet loves to do which is collect and list only those thing perceived negative while ignore the positives....like eye bleeding graphics at 1080/60 and other things badass about a new Forza on new hardware.So..
No night
No weather
300-ish cars
No Fanatec wheel support
No Auction House
No Storefront
No Porsche

GT has been doing that for a while. So has NFS Shift 2 I believe.
No offense to anyone who uses it, but really hate watching videos of people who use the driving line. It just screams VIDEO GAME.and this is the Nurburgring
He's just being Saladine. He's a good guy and a fan at heart, so we put up with his endless whining about audio and Australian cars and whatever else his drama queen ass is upset about at any given time. He's pretty much cemented as a part of the Forza landscape at this point. You are doing this thing that the Internet loves to do which is collect and list only those thing perceived negative while ignore the positives....like eye bleeding graphics at 1080/60 and other things badass about a new Forza on new hardware.
You are just looking for things to say no to. Like the Auction House and Storefront obviously they aren't scrapping the system but changing how tunes, liveries, and graphics are shared. We no nothing more and this is a game with 6 months of development left and a long feature rollout plan.
Everyone relax. The game will be awesome.

Its about how much it reminds you of it. Simulation-style games are supposed to be immersive. They are designed to simulate reality and put you in the driver seat. When you see color-changing arrows on the track, its a huge immersion-breaker.Because it is, no?

So I've been watching some Forza 5 interviews and I'm really starting to get intrigued with the new Drivetar thing. It seems like the game will be constantly evolving as new player based AIs are created to race against. Then I watched this interview with Indycar racer Tony Kanaan at some MS E3 party where he's saying that he plays Forza so you might end up racing against his and other real professional driver's AIs. That sounds awesome depending on how good those AI simulations will end up being in terms of mimicking people's real driving styles and decisions.
