I so want to play this right now, but it's like 3AM. Tomorrow is gonna be so good. I think I want to make a trek from my home in Limsa Lominsa to the deserts of U'ldah. I gotta see what that place looks like!

I'm just getting a black screen with the music playing in the backround. I haven't been able to download the entire thing yet. 
I expect the retail client will be able to build on it, but it's still going to be a big DL because there's a lot of stuff not in the beta that will be in the final game.

20-40 fps in 720p/Maximum on my laptop. That's not bad I suppose considering it's a laptop. The benchmark actually seems to measure my laptop's performance closely to what it actually performs in the beta, unlike on my gaming PC.
So far, I haven't been disconnected from the game tethered to my phone. Does anyone know how to measure latency to the server?

Just as in FFXI, that's packets sent/received, not latency/ping. I suppose I could netstat that and see what's up.
edit: Well, if anyone cares, I believe the Montreal server cluster can be found at 199.91.189.41 and it responds to ping if you're curious about your latency to FFXIV.

So does ARR have skill chains like FFXI did? I always loved those. Especially with the magic bursts from the mages. 
Added some nice strategy into some bosses besides just spamming whatever weapon skill and spell you wanted.

Looks like I'm going to be stuck at work all day today.
What a waste. I like Yogscast but after watching the character creation video, I didn't bother with the rest. Pretty bad.

Did my first Tam-Tara run, it was another fun experience. though the first dungeon of which I don't remember the name was kind of more fun. I even managed to win a pair of cool goggles.
Considering how normal stuff goes directly into your backpack, I wonder why they made it so you have to click on a loot window to pop up a need/greed/pass window with the good items to roll on, instead of directly opening the roll window. It's another part of the needless clicks the game seems to be filled with (this is something I need to post on the beta forum, I think they should tone down some clicking for the PC UI).

We've had our characters back since last weekend, check the old server your character was on and it should still be there.

The one thing that got me when I first did this is the login is different for different things, so you have to be careful.
I remember the log in for the account section was different than the login for the beta forums or the game client.
In this beta phase, yeah. When it switches to the next, it'll wipe.
Nope, everything's still being tested, it'll all be reset after the end of this phase of the beta in a couple weeks. Once they hit Phase 4/Open Beta, character progress will start being saved.
It did last weekend. I think the bar stays red if you have over a bar worth of rest exp.
Kill a mob and see if you get a bonus to exp.
Exp Bar stays red when the entire bar is rested.
is the bonus exp the % inside ()?

I thought normal exp bar was red but it was probably yellow.

New players are on Ultros and Legacy players are on Sargatanas. Both of these servers are on NA time though, so I don't know how many people would be on during your peak hours.

God the map needs some getting use to...I hate tracking a quest that is outside your area map,so confusing to the point of being a game breaker to me...I easily get lost in MMO's lol so the map doesn't help...I will have to follow the quest I have also and not take random ones on the way...take 4 quest,finish the 4 before starting others hehe...
