So I'm lvl 21 PUG and just finished the main scenario( Woods will be done I think). What do I do now? It doesn't tell me to go anywhere else..

So who can I send a message too to get into the gaf guild this time? I tried last time but everyone was busy in dungeons. So can I send one to just about anyone who's a guild member?

God the map needs some getting use to...I hate tracking a quest that is outside your area map,so confusing to the point of being a game breaker to me...I easily get lost in MMO's lol so the map doesn't help...I will have to follow the quest I have also and not take random ones on the way...take 4 quest, finish the 4 before starting others hehe...

In case you aren't aware,You can open you quest log and go to the quest and hit the map button at the bottom of the quest log entry will show you the zone the quest is in

That's as far as quests go in beta. Go try leveling different classes, exploring, etc. You can also do some leves for more exp and you should be able to jump to level 30 by speaking to the wandering minstrel so you can do the level 30 dungeons.

I'm getting pretty angry with the login process. My username and password work fine on the website, but for some reason they're not good enough for the game client, brilliant.

Client wants username, not email.

Can't wait to get back on today!

My guy is only level 14 so this is a genuine question and not being posed rhetorically, but is this game going to end up being too easy to have the same staying power as FFXI?

So far, I don't get the impression that there are super rare items for me to dream about and never get. Not even anything that will require me to spend a week desperately working towards it. Everything seems a bit too obtainable. That might sound silly, but I think the difficulty of FFXI played a large role in its ability to remain attractive to me for so long.

I accidentally entered a contest for an EU beta key.

If anyone in the EU has a spare US beta key, I'd love to trade, otherwise I'll give out my EU key eventually. I just really want to try the beta as well after reading some impressions!

End game raids should give staying power. As well as story progression

Where is the wandering minstrel?

So... I'm on my 1.0 character. How do you call your personal chocobo or goobbue mount? I didn't see it in the Actions & Traits menu (I did see Chocobo Barding as something to click on, but it does nothing). Do I have to go around completing low level quests to get that to open up? :(

End game raids
Well, every MMO has that right?

What I mean is that I remember camping Leaping Lizzy and getting a pair of Leaping Boots as being one of my most memorable moments in a video game, and that was before level 20.

You also had stuff like the Peacock Charm which was even more valuable and more difficult to obtain. That was a mid-level item and not attached to raiding or anything. It was just hard as hell to find.

Then when you finally do get around to raids, you had gear that people would spend several months working with a Linkshell to be able to lot on because it would only end up dropping once in that time span.

In a couple of years, is everyone going to have everything and we'll just be waiting for expansions to get new stuff?

Anyone know how to get to sastasha?
Do the story quest

I doubt we will have anything like that again because it goes against the design of the game.

There will probably still be rare raid drops and stuff but I highly doubt there will be anything that's damn near impossible to get anymore. WoW is pretty much like that, everything is accessible by everyone but you need a group of solid players to get it. Then at that point it's random drop chance.

With that said we are supposed to be getting content updates every 3-4 months with an expansion planned for release 1 1/2 years after launch.

GameRadar is giving away 3500 PS3 beta keys for the UK.
Go claim yours now.

Quote this post for a UK PS3 code.
Beta code:
Square code:

Not sure if they work for the EU, but they should.

Gonna give it a shot. Never played an MMO before, and I probably won't have time for it in the long term. But it could be fun, and if I like it, I'll get the PS4 version.

Thanks for link!

No one knows. Anyone who claims to is blowing smoke.

That said, that kind of situation wouldn't surprise me with the direction this game is going in.

No one knows? It's pretty obvious with the stuff that's been said and the way they want to release the content how progression is going to work.
Like WoW

I was, the stupid map wasn't helping me.

I was referring specifically to the despairing sentiment of "everyone has everything and is bored until next content." Yeah, they've made their content progression framework clear, but that doesn't mean it's going to be so limited/easy that "everyone has everything." It's been a couple years since I played WoW so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but even there only the dedicated people clear the heroic raids. Yoshi has promised challenging content to keep dedicated players busy but beyond that we won't know the specifics of endgame until we see it.

One thing's for sure, though... XIV isn't shaping up to follow in XI's footsteps with dull time wasting things like NM camping for leaping boots or peacock charms. And good riddance, I say.

Sucks that I have work until 4.
Even more that this session ends on Sunday.

But I'm looking forward to giving this a shot on my PS3. My laptop couldn't even handle the benchmark thing when the original game beta was out.

Yeah, I know, I don't know what it was, but it worked a few minutes later.

My first impressions are pretty bad, it runs like complete crap on PS3, the UI is really inefficient and it's very boring game design wise, the art is pretty awful too. I'll play more later, but yeah, I don't think it looks like something I'll be buying.

Downloaded the PS3 beta from my Brit account. So now i have the client.

Now im going to attempt to input my old Beta code i was sent a half decade ago into my US account.

Wish me luck.

Edit:

Its saying my code was already registered....

Guess ill try the UK code. Doubt that will work though ;_;

Edit2:
God dammit.

SE screw you, i just want to play your goddamn game.

All guild members have invite permissions so feel free to ask any other member for an invite, but keep in mind that not everyone will know how or may need to figure it out.

Otherwise, check for one of the officers listed in the OP or wait until I get home at 5. :P

Is there a link that talks about the pros/cons of each race?

You shouldn't even consider the differences in racial stats when making your character, seriously.

All races' starting stats average at 20 with about 3 points of variation. By the time you're level 50, your primary stats are gonna be close to 400 even without good endgame gear. In good gear, your racial stat differences are like <1% difference. Not even worth considering for min-maxing, seriously. As level cap and gear eventually go higher, the difference will become even more meaningless.

It should work. But I would edit out 'risky' parts of your post since it's not allowed in the PSN/SEN eula.

Anyway, some Turkish website is giving out 600 beta keys for the PC. I should probably mention that this is also for the EU only.
Go grab yours here. At the moment of posting there are 223 beta keys left.

Register, then click on the "Anahtar Al" button and check your private messages (top right) for your key.

Thanks, I've been trying to get into the guild ever since last week lol.

I might need some more help here from someone. So what level can you switch classes at? I'm a lvl15 conjurer and I traveled all the way to Ul'dah to become a Thau, but nothing's showing up when i go to the Thau guild. Not sure if this is on the beta or not but just want to make sure I'm doing it right or wrong.

Hello GAF, i humbly seek help

I started in gridania and i've completed the "gridania enjoy" i cannot seem to find the next quest and i really want to play the dongeons.

One Gaffer told me that my next main quest should be in limsa , but unfortunatly i'm not seeing it ... Could you guys provide more information ?

EDIT : Silly me , it's not in the city ?So i should just head north ?

Yeah, my beta code doesnt work. It claims to be already used.

Whatever, im just playing from scratch on my UK account. It wouldn't save any progress i made with my actual character anyway right?

Good to know, but my question relates to if certain classes are restricted to certain races or if anyone can be anything?

After the level 10 quest at your starting class' guild you'll unlock the armory system. Then you speak to the guild receptionist at other guilds and do the "So you wanna be a..." quest to unlock them.

I dunno where you are exactl in the quest but it takes you to the other two cities and then you go back to Limsa and talk to the guy next to the ferry in the Lower Decks.
