Yep, it takes a little time to get used to. The typical 3rd person shooting jank and overall wonkiness of control that is to be expected from Rockstar games. Put some more time into it and you will get more comfortable and able to manage fine. You can start abusing Deadeye pretty heavily as well. I turned off the auto aim bullshit because it was just annoying and it's more satisfying without it. Deadeye is OP enough that auto lock on is not necessary.
I thought the world was awesome, characters, dialogue and overall mission structure were some of the best ever in Rockstar's legacy. It has some rough spots, and some pacing issues, but overall it's an amazing game. Mexico is a bit of grind though, just push yourself through it if you get bored. Blackwater is so much better of a locale and the missions and story pick up in pace and weight considerably.
Yeah just played some more. Just randomly at night, was looking for some woman's kid, only found a shoe and some blood, then started picking some flowers, shooting snakes, rabbits, bucks etc. Got a bit too trigger happy. Some random guy comes up says they are hanging his buddy. I wasted all my dead eye, and so it was so hard to aim and then when I'd tap LT, would target onto the enemy.
Complete clusterfuck lol, not only did the poor guy get hanged because I couldn't shoot the rope, I accidentally shot and killed the poor guy who told me of the mission, along with the bandits.
Hopefully this will get me in the zone for GTA V, already have that pre ordered. Though the graphics for Red Dead are pretty good considering it's three years old now. Imagine what they'll be able to achieve with the power of XbOne and PS4 and then by comparison what the PC versions will look like.

Well you've just seen one then now? Lol, I played it a bit more. Definitely takes a while to get used to, but I've sort of gotten the hang of it. Started to enjoy the riding and hunting. I will still say the controls are a bit wonky. Should get me pumped for GTA V though.
For those who have played LA Noire as well, how does that play as compared to RDR and GTA IV?
Completely different. You basically have no freedom at all, especially compared to those games.
There's not a whole lot to do. Just drive from crime scene to crime scene or chase criminals.
The main character is completely bipolar. One second he's depressed and the next he has rage issues.
Always felt like they focused on the face-mocap thing and forgot about the rest of the game.

I finished Mirrors Edge and Bioshock for the first time last week as part of my "destroy the backlog" mission.
Bioshocks last hour or so is fucking horrible but the story was good and I liked the setting
Mirrors edge lost its charm really quickly, The last few areas are really weak and the ending was terrible. The first few missions and the best, I always felt too limited by the environments and the lack of scale really bugged me everything felt very enclosed and like it was building to some epic leap or chase which rarely if ever came. The music was nice and relaxing. The story was horrible as are all the characters. 1 dimensional is a overstatement for some of them, but it understand it was not the main focus. Also combat and shooting suck balls, being forced into situations where you have to do one or both was the weakest point of the game.
I'm currently playing Doom 3 BFG, Really enjoying it, mainly for the atmosphere. It really feels like a going back in time playing something like this.

I would say BS1. Sounds like it anyway.
The last hour of that game was not so great, with the boss being totally unnecessary.
Yeah at least when Infinite drags on its not that bad and the final act of the game is beyond amazing.

It was a great game. The mid point was fantastic with all the twist and turns in the story but it started going down hill gameplay wise just before that, during the second bullshit fetch quest to build the bomb. (after the first horrible fetch quest to make the Lazarus serum or w.e it was) but when it got to the fetch some potions because "code yelllow" and now fetch some boots from library and now spend forever escorting this slow ass lil sister while she repeats 3 lines of dialog over and over and finally a boss that is shoot it till it dies. Your reward? a 30 seconds cgi cutscene of some hands.
I get what they tried to do at the end but it all fell kind of flat and the gameplay before it felt like a chore.
Yeah, I wasn't a fan of Bioshock 1's last parts either. But Infinite.......mah god.

Nice games last night fellas, I have to change my routet or it will drop my connection everytime around that time.( 2am for me)
Except the last game on Longbow it was all really good stuff ...holy fuck did they butcher longbow with that vehicle set up.
I'm in for some GunGame today also for anything other before.
DAmn Kittens still can't get over our close doubles match I fucked up so badly and died too many times because I got cocky

Mirror's Edge is in my top 5 all time. I know it's kind of broken at times but when it's at its best it is unlike anything I've ever experienced. I beat it on Xbox last week (beat it on PS3 originally). Those last few levels are rough, but if they fix the combat it should be fine. Both times I've beat it I never used guns (except that one part) and got the achievement/trophy.

You have to shoot the servers to destroy them, That area, the sniper section and the elevator room(survive until it arrives) all heavily push the player to going for weapons.
Its besides the point, Hand to hand and Shooting are godawful in the game yet they are presented as viable options to tackle the level. Pacifist runs even force the player into awful Hand to Hand engagements at least twice

No you don't. The only shooting you EVER have to do is the sniper part. You won't get the "no shooting" achievement if you shoot at any other time. I do agree that the sections need to be more balanced for non-gunplay, but they are fully doable without as I've beat the game twice now with no guns.
Key with the servers is to run behind them and make the other guys shoot them.
There's an achievement for finishing the game without shooting an enemy. And I never felt like it was undoable. Trying to avoid combat altogether was the most fun part of the game for me.

Maybe you can, the whole section was kind of messy and i was playing late.
I still feel like gunplay should have not even been part of the game and the hand to hand fights are still incredibly weak points.
It was a solid game but it gets worse towards the end in my opinion. Glad I've played it and looking forward to playing an open world version with ME2.

Is Red Dead Redemption basically western GTA?
Basically...but better. You ride your horse around and do missions, the shooting is so much better than GTA as is the story. RDR is probably my favourite Rockstar game.

The setting of RDR makes it feel so much more boring than GTA to me. It's literally an open, barren wasteland. I think RDR is one of the most overrated games of the generation, really.

I can see how it is boring to some people. I just liked the change in environment over another city game. Also, the lead character was very likable unlike the GTA games.

Yeah but right now the infinity slayer playlist with these pro settings in there is better than the normal team slayer playlist in reach( thinking this will be the playlists with the main population)
Before anyone wants to say Reach is better... vanilla Reach is the worst Halo.

When I went back and played some Reach not that long ago, I had more fun playing it than Halo 4. I was pretty shocked.

Yeah, that's the problem with Reach right now. The only playlist that has a decent population is Team Slayer, but it has vanilla settings. I really wish 343 would just make the TU settings universal (where possible) and consolidate the playlists.
